Alison,

Please take care of yourself and Fran, I hope the drugs work soon and that you both get to enjoy the trip you have planned.

Glynis - those recipes sound so cute! I'm even tempted to make the eyeballs, but I won't have any time. I'll have to remember that!

Marilyn - I almost always have back to back to back busy weekends, but since we're self employed and at home a lot, I can usually get stuff done during the week!

Jen - Those ento-whatevers sounded really good!

First, I'm glad that he gave you guys the all-clear for travel. Second, I'm glad that Fran will begin to feel better soon. I hope her pain is better quickly. And finally, I hope you take care of yourself during all of this. Stress right before a trip! Ugh. Thinking of you both, Alison.

That's the story of my life, I've been dealing with her having some sort of illness since year #2 when she was diagnosed with RA. I had a triple whammy from 2004 - 2006 when her parents were both sick and crazy. Her mother passed in 06, and we had a year of relief until her father went looney until he died in 2009. Boy the stories I could tell!

I've learned not to get stressed out about it, in fact she has been complaining about the leg for several weeks and it wasn't until last night when I noticed the whole shin was dark red and other unpleasant things in dinner conversation were going on that I started really worrying. But if Dr. J says everything will be OK, then I know it will.

Arline is so happy we signed her up with this Dr. even though she lives four hours away, she is getting better care with her than her Doctors in the sticks. (No offense to those living in small towns!) In the last two years, her meds have been switched up a dozen times, she's been diagnosed with Parkinson's, undiagnosed with Parkinson's, had chronic wounds that won't heal, thought she was suffering from Alzheimer's, dementia and another long list of ailments. All of which Dr. J was able to undeduce in the 3 hour session that she had today. She has a whole new set of meds that should take away some of the dementia symptoms, the shaking, and even cleaned the wax out of her ears so that she hears a lot better! :lmao:

You know...I know you say you don't get stressed about it, and I can tell you don't, but I still hope you're able to lay everything aside (the both of you ladies) and have a kick-butt Disney vacation.

And :woohoo: for Arline. A good doc makes all of the difference!

How many days till Disney? 5 days? In 5 days, you get to smell Main St. :cloud9:

Hi, everyone! I'm back from Vegas

Your trip sounds amazing!!! I'm so glad you got to go.

Aimee - I work as a management consultant; so that means I have the pleasure of working on anything that a client/company doesn't want to do or finds too hard. I've been doing a lot of project management work lately; IT and Business. Just finished up a project in a large mining organisation and at the moment, there are a couple of opportunities back in the telecommunications industry that I'm hoping will result in a contract. Australia is rolling out a new national broadband network and I'm hoping to get on that project. But in true consulting form, something else will probably come along out of left field.

:thumbsup2

Kady is sick today so I think we are going to have leftover soup for dinner and just watch t.v. and relax tonight. Have a great day all!!!

I hope she feels better soon!

Well we're still very touchy, but we have the all clear for all our trips. We just left the doctor's office (well, we were starved so we got some fast Greek food.

We had set the appt up on Monday after our friend had her appt with the cardiologist, then the Doc was going to take a peek at her leg. Well last night it was clear that she had some sort of infection. The Dr. called in an antibiotic and I picked it up last night. The pain got so bad that we had to find the bottle of leftover morphine from her last knee replacement. Over night she took so much that she has been throwing up all day.

When we saw the doc today, gave her a new antibiotic, with a more broad spectrum and a prescription to help with the nausea. The Dr. gave her the OK to travel four hours up to take our friend home, but we would not have made it before midnight at the rate we were going so we postponed taking her home to Sat/Sun instead. The doc feels that she will be recovered enough by Tues to fly. I should go and clean up the wound.

Oh, I'm so sorry y'all are having to deal with this. Sounds painful! Didn't that infection get the memo that you're going on vacation?

We ate out - again. I feel like we go through these phases where we eat out for days on end due to my schedule. :sad2:

Just make sure that in between all of this wonderful care you give out, that you take care of yourself too.

Thanks! That's what those gift certificates for the Spa at the Grand Californian are for! :thumbsup2

How many days till Disney? 5 days? In 5 days, you get to smell Main St. :cloud9:

Actually we get in too late for any parks in 5 days, but in 6 days we'll be at Hogwarts and drinking butterbeer. In 7 days we will be eating and drinking our way around the world! :thumbsup2 I just hope that she feels better enough to do that.

Happy Friday, everyone!

An update: rehearsal Wednesday night went really well. Said Diva was not even there so I didn't have her haunting me. The BETTER news, there were praise team auditions for new people last week and our director ended up re-doing all of the teams. I am not longer on a team with the Diva!!!!!!!!!! Praise, glory, hallelujah!!! I'm so happy! I'm filling in on a team this week and love the people on it. It turns out, I am now on that team. Lindsay is very happy! (doing the dance of joy!)

Today we are having the jambasta I made yesterday. I have to run to Chattanooga and pick up a few things for our trip. Also, I need to run by Bath and Body Works and pick up a few Wallflowers. A youtube guru I watch was saying how nice and pleasant they are so I tried one out. Every time someone walks in my house lately they have commented how warm it smells. Eureka! (I use the cinnamon one) I am very anal about my house smelling good (since I pretty much have ZERO sense of smell) so I wanted to pick up a few more.

I also need to run to MAC and pick up a few things for vacation. I don't know if I mentioned it or not, but I recently applied for a job there :)

I hope everyone is doing well this morning and people are feeling better. I'm off to go refill my coffee cup! :surfweb:

Lindsay - I'm doing the dance of joy with you. So happy for you. (But how did your singing go??)

ps. I hope you get the job at MAC.

I hate back to back busy weekends! Do you get to sleep in at all?

Yes. The party tomorrow is not until 6, I just have to be up in time to go shopping for a birthday gift. :rotfl:

Actually I will probably get up and go to the farm tomorrow morning, just not super early, then go shopping for a gift.

The party on Sunday is at 1 in VA. It's for my youngest DN, she turned 8 yesterday.

Lindsey, dance of Joy sounds wonderful! So glad that you are away from the stressful situation! That is really great news....

I use the wallflowers also, I really like them. For us they seem to no longer have a strong scent after about a week, but there is plenty of the liquid left int he container, but I may just not be using enough for the size of the rooms.... Oh well.:confused3

Keep us up to date on the job at MAC and so happy for you in the upcoming vacation! Have a wonderful day!

Jen- here are a few links that I have so far. I have teh magazines and they have a lot but I am trying to find some that also have pictures because my directions may not be very good.

The little witches hates are cute as are the spider cookies. Kids can decorate them without too much direction.

I want to make the decoupage lanterns with Kady. I have a lot of mason jars so my purchases are going to be minimal.

The candy corn pots are adorable as well and if you are up to having the kids decorate Cake Pops they could make mini bouquets.

This one has oranges the children turn into jack-o-lanterns as well as some pretzels that could go into the candy corn pots.

I also make a witches hat from a rice crispy treat made from cocoa puffs That Kady loves. It would not work as a craft thing in school but the kids really love it.

Hope you have fun at the party.....

We are heading to VA tomorrow, we are going to the Mount Vernon Grist Mill, I know it closes the end of October so i wanted to make sure I got there this year! Last night was the Octoberfest that David and I went to, just like a block party with Brats of all flavors and beer, so nothing was made for dinner..

Quick fly-by again :headache:

I miss you guys

WFD is takeout

Tomorrow I am having friend over for dinner. Yes I am cooking for my birthday.

Dinner tomorrow will be a Spanish themed dinner. Tapas, Paella and my fav part flourless chocolate cake:woohoo:

Lindsay I hope you get the job!! Glad to hear the Diva wasnt there!!

Glynis Glad to hear you had a relaxing vacation!! I really need a vacation :)

Kady is home sick. She was running a 101 fever all night. Normally her temp is 97.1 So this was high for her. The doctor wants to see her when it hits 100.5, but since it was nighttime I wanted to wait until the morning. She is now at 98.1 right now so her fever has finally broken. I knew it was broken because she told me she was bored:rotfl: Yesterday she stayed home with jeff yesterday and slept all day. So bored means she is starting to feel better :cloud9:

I am working from home today so I have to get back... Have a great day all!!!

So what is a BELT? I'm viewing from my phone so all I can see is that it's a sandwich of some sort.

Bacon, arugula, tomato, egg sandwich.

I hope Fran is feeling better today! Are the anitbiotics kicked in?

Dinenr is ravioli in red sauce and I made a chicken salad for Bud JIC. He choked down the soup I made yesterday, gagging the whole time and washed it down with 1/2 loaf of bread and leftover chicken wings. Apple cake to make sure it was all gone :rotfl:

:laughing::laughing::laughing:

Lindsay, I am glad that your rehearsal went so well and that you are in a new group! Good luck on the MAC application. That could be a dangerous job though...I had a part time job in a bookstore in college and I just used to trade my check for books every week!

Happy birthday Janice! Your dinner menu sounds great.

Glynis, I am glad you had fun in Vegas! I've never been there.

Dinner last night was a simple pasta with peas and bacon (yes more bacon). John was tired from his travels so this was simple comfort food. I didn't take a picture of it plated, here is one of it still in the pan:

WFD: John and I are taking Laura and the kids out to dinner.

I'm so glad it went well - and worked out well for the future!

I'm glad she's feeling better! Hopefully it's just a yucky 24 hour virus.

Re: Wallflowers - we used to use them in our house and Winston (one of my pups) started getting some fierce allergies. Licked his paws raw, scratched, sneezed, eyes watered, etc. Took him to our vet. She asked if we use any plug in scents, and how long, and sure enough - his allergies started immediately after we plugged one in! She said that they are so full of chemicals but usually don't bother people too much, since we are in and out of the house, but dogs exist almost exclusively in the room with one and breathing it in and out constantly can cause issues. So, we unplugged them and I gave them all to my SIL (of course I had just bought a bunch of refills, too!). Within 2 days, he was back to normal! So odd.

They did smell good. :sad2:

I have a retreat tonight/tomorrow - dinner will be fast food on the way with a teenager that is coming to help.
