The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

Good morning! Laura and Becky - hope you enjoy your bridal shower

DH is gone so I will scrounge for stuff here, or go eat fast food. Depends on if I want to bother going out later...

I am chuckling here. Our mailman just delivered our mail....much earlier than normal for Saturday. His team is playing :thumbsup2

WHO DAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

I bought tilapia. Now what to do with it? I am thinking of dredging it in flour and Sheryl's cajun dust and frying. I bought some mango & peach salsa to top it with. I have never cooked tilapia, do you think that will be a good cooking idea?

Ann That sounds good to me. We really like Tilapia. You can do almost anything with it.

I am making Chicken spaghetti for tonight. I picked up the Pioneer womans cookbook from the Library. I know want to keep it for myself. I am resisting the urge since I am being cheap these days.

Nan - In fact it was my conversation with you about Kyle taking a landscape arch. class that led to the change!!!!!! Kyle called me right after you and I hung up and I told him what you said, a week or so later he met with an advisor at school and the rest is history! If he does continue and succeed with this course we owe you a front yard! Thanks for cheering for the Saints, we need all the cheers we can get!:cheer2:

Ann - I’ve done tilapia that way, it’s very good!

Guess who just surprised me and walked through the front door????????? Yep, my boy!!!!!:cloud9:

Kat- you made my day!

I have used lemon pepper adn panfried tilapia. It is a nice light fish.

I forget who made the Pioneer Woman's pound cake but I think I made that one for DH to take to work. I was told it was amazing.I hope that was the one!

I am alone this evening. Jeff got something in his eye so they are not going out. Kady is at a friends. i am trying to get my sorry self to the grocery store but am really not having much luck ;)

The house is done, windows are clean (well the bottom half). It is finally warm enough to wash them and the sills. Laundry is still going but I am on the right track.

That sounds really good! We love tilapia! It's a really mild fish! Let me know how you like it.

I have that cookbook on hold at the library! Did you try her white chili? I liked the look of it on her blog, and really want to try it out!

I think I looked pathletic this morning. I was reading it waiting for Alex to finish his Karate lesson. One goofy mom laughing and reading a cookbook :rolleyes1 I love cookbooks what can I say? Our library had 2 copies available. I guess there are many people around here who read the cookbook section like I do. :upsidedow

No I haven't tried the White chili yet. Tonight dinner was a toss up between the chicken pot pie and the chicken spaghetti. Alex picked the spaghetti.

Nancy Glad to hear the pound cake is good. I plan on making 2 one for us and one for tomorrow.

Hey y'all,

Laura & Becky, OMG! I hope y'all made it on time!

Kathy, Bob sends his apologies to Johnny for sending him out in the nasty weather for raw oysters!!!

A huge group hug for my girls!!! Y'all are the best!:grouphug:

Sorry if I've neglected someone, But I gotta go dish out the food & watch some football!

BLESS YOU BOYS!!!! WHO DAT!!!

I'm saying a prayer for no injuries & that our team plays the very best game they can!!!

Football food today, Roasted Creole Cardinal, black beans & gold rice!!! ;)

This is the "cardinal" I've been marinating since Wednesday, in Cuban Criolla marinade, cuban black beans, yellow rice ( & latin style cole slaw but I'll tuck that to the side since it doesn't fit with the Saints color scheme!)

Have a good Saturday y'all!

I have it on order at the library too, since December 13th. And I wasn't too far down the list. I am finally #3 so hopefully I will get it within the next week.

I also have The Lovely Bones on order, I am #64, probably get that in time for some Summer reading. :rotfl:

Went to the Amish Market today, got lots of good things to eat, loose sausage, apple sausage, bacon sausage, chipped beef, lunchmeat, Farmers cheese, Swiss cheese, baby red potatoes, chocolate and red velvet whoppie pies :cloud9:, some dark chocolate non-perrils and wheat nuts.

We also got lunch there, they have the best chicken strips and filled pretzels. I always get a few chicken strips, mushrooms (which they were out of) and a pretzel dog.

We also stopped at a bookstore where I got a book about Stephen King and at Rack Room Shoes where I got a pair of snow boots!!! :yay: I have been looking for a new pair and most stores have the cute boots that are really not appropriate in snow and I really can't wear.

:sad2: I think they decided to leave their ENTIRE game at home tonight.

And honest to goodness I am about sick of listening to how much of a God Peyton Manning is! :headache: It seems like every game I watch one of the commentators has to spend the entire game talking INCESSANTLY about one player! One game it was all about Ben Rothlesburger, AND HE WASN'T PLAYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :headache:

Sitting here waiting for DH to get home from work. I made a box of Duncan Hines Multigrain Apple Cinnamon muffins (I had a coupon). Hope they are good. Looking forward to reading the paper with a coffee and a muffin.
