The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

Ann Hopefully there will be muffins left for him.;) I don't think I could wait.

Sheryl Thank for the visual. I thought it was some new dish I missed. :rotfl2:I am glad your cardinal was not tough and chewy. We eat Card's here also but it is summer food.

Good morning!

I was hoping to see a post from Aimee, I'm worried about her.

WFD - Pot roast, roasted potatoes with carrots & onions tossed with spinach...yum

Happy Sunday my friends!!

I can't keep up so I am starting fresh today...(I also can't keep sorted what was talked about on FB and here, lol)

Ann--I hope Ron got some muffins.....I am making some today as well..banana nut that and some brownies.

I need to have a few things to get by with for Kris' lunch. There isn't much in the house as we didn't bother to shop as we leave on Friday....I am excited for flip flops and palm trees but not so much on seeing my dad's friend....I feel like I have 2 trips I am going on...

Nola Girls--Woot Woot :woohoo::yay::cheer2::cheer2: Your city must be just a jumping today!!

Kat--I am so happy for you that your boy came home for the weekend....what a sweet surprise!!

Nancy--How did your time with Kady go?

Hmmm I am so far behind...but I just looked at the time and I have 1hr before the boys are home and I'm still in my pj's!

If anyone hears from Maria or Lauren please let me know!!

WFD--(ugh I thought it was ground turkey I took out but it was turkey breasts) We are now having..roasted turkey breasts with gravey, fresh cranberry sauce and roasted yellow squash and rice for Ross and potatoes for Kris.

Have a great day my friends!!

Happy Sunday! It's a beautiful day here today! I hope the rest of you are having a great day, as well!!!

Tonight's dinner will be white chicken chili. New recipe, and I hope it's good. It uses a can of white hominy along with white beans. I love hominy, so I'm really hoping it's good. I'll either make some corn bread or some biscuits to go with it. Alan will have a salad along with his chili.

I'm thinking about making some low carb cookies for dessert tonight, but we'll see how things go after church.

We'll end the day with a movie and popcorn. The movie tonight is "The Sword in the Stone." Should be a fun evening!

Glynis--could you post your low carb cookie recipe? I am missing my sweets on this low carb thing!! Thanks=)

Up and to early church. Doug had to sing and I sat with one of my very favorite little ladies. What a nice way to start my day.

I am trying to finish the wash and then Doug and I are going on a nice long walk. Matthew should be home later this afternoon and I know he will be STARVING. LOL

WFDT ~ Pot Roast, potatoes, carrots, gravy with a peach salad and homemade biscuits. That should satisfy him for at least an hour. Maybe!!

Make it a great day my friends and enjoy life!!

You bet I will... if they turn out ok. I'll try them on my hubby first before I post the recipe. They are not no-carb, but lower carb.

Well, we are about to walk out the door to church. I wasn't sure I'd make it today, as I have a really scratchy, sore throat. However, I don't have a fever, and so I'm going. I need to make sure my kids know how important it is to me that we all go, so I'm going to do it. I took some cold medicine, so I should either feel better soon, or be sound asleep during church! Hmmm, which will happen? Stay tuned.

Talk to y'all later!

Wendie – I’m glad I’m not the only one that can’t keep track of what’s being discussed where.:upsidedow

Ann – Hope y’all enjoyed those muffins!

Ellen – Hope you and Doug enjoyed your walk. I’m sure Matthew will love that dinner you made!

Glynis – Hope you’re feeling better.

We’re glued to the NFC game waiting to see who we’ll host next Sunday, looking like Minnesota and Brett Favre…..

Tonight is a church wide chili cookoff; I'm supposed to be a judge but I think I'm going to stay home. I wouldn't be tasting any chili today anyways  DH has to go so he'll have that for dinner.

I just had some chicken and stars soup - we'll see how it goes

I just came back from a short stay 4nights at Disney World My daughter was in a cheerleading competition which we watched on Saturday Her squad did great but didn't make the finals That was OK tho it gave us a lot of time to enjoy the parks and even the pool at the resort. It was 70 degrees last night , we sat on the veranda at the Boardwalk's lounge and had a night cap, January was a great time to go no lines no wait for buses .We rode in the same car as Randy Moss on The Great Movie Ride. My daughter slyly took his picture and quickly texted it to her brother. We had a great meal at Todd English's Blue Zoo We split an appetizer of a cauliflower gratin with a braised short rib topped with a seared scallop . I can't wait to replicate it at home
WFD nothing planned as my 19 year old daughter wants to back to her college tonite It's in New Hampshire and she's afraid of the snowstorm tomorrow. So it looks like we'll be in the car for the next 5 hours:confused:

We love BlueZoo and are going back next month. What did you have for your entree?

Hey y'all,
We overslept this morning & missed church. I'm still in my pj's, just watching football. We'll be facing Brett Favre & the Vikings. Hoping that home field gives us the big advantage!

Sheryl Thank for the visual. I thought it was some new dish I missed. :rotfl2:I am glad your cardinal was not tough and chewy. We eat Card's here also but it is summer food.

 Summer food!!! LOL! very witty Janice!

Kathy, No responses so far on renting points.:sad1:

We'll be eating leftover cardinal today, relish it while we can before we have to attempt eating very tough Vikings!;)

Aimee - for not feeling well. Prayers to speed up time to your surgery.

Kathy  for you and Johnny and MIL.

Laura & Becky - hope you made it to the shower and had a good time.

Ellen - waiting to here how the date was.

Lauri -- I hope you enjoyed your dinner!

Lauri ~ How did your dinner turn out? Great I bet!!

Dinner was really good. Sara made a no bake triple layer mud pie that was out of this world. I'll need to get that recipe!!

We had an overnight visitor - we babysat for some friends yesterday - they had a Mardi Gras ball to attend. It was lots of fun - Gabby is such a sweetheart.

Happy Sunday my friends!!

Wendie I'm having that same problem. I have enough trouble keeping up in one place!!

Yea - this city is nuts and its gonna get downright crazy!

I'm cooking for several days so I'm not sure what will end up being dinner. I'm making meatballs and lots of sauce, because we'll use it for other meals, and slow cooking ribs in the oven.

Hi,y'all, I made a crockpot meal I found on the Budget board and wanted to share it. It's really good, easy, and versatile.

Crockpot Chicken with Black Beans and Corn

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (frozen or thawed)
1 can black beans
1 can kernel corn
1 jar salsa
salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder (all to taste)
8oz cream cheese

Put the chicken breasts in the crockpot and sprinkle with the seasonings. (I added this part, so there aren't any measurements.)
Pour the beans, drained, on top of the chicken. Add the jar of salsa then the can of corn, drained. Cook on low for 4 and a half hours until chicken is done. Take out the chicken and shred and put back in the pot. Add the block of cream cheese, stir and let melt together for about 30 minutes.

We put this in tortillas and added lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, shredded cheese, and sour cream like tacos. You can also put on top of nacho chips with the toppings, or you can even just serve it on top of rice. To make it more figure friendly, drop the cream cheese.

Yes, the city is busy. I just got home from the French Quarter where I was cruising along at a whopping speed of 2 miles per hour.

Everybody was buying Saints stuff. :dance3:

Funny I saw this on the budget board and got the fixings for it. I hate my crockpot and thought I might give this one a whirl. Glad to hear you liked it. Thank you.

Ugadog! Hi there and where you been??????????? I am going to make this for Superbpwl Sunday. I dropped the insert to my favorite crockpot so my sister bought me a new fancy digital self starting one that I am terrified of. I think I will break it in on this dish!

Glynis- how are you feeling this evening?

Nola Ladies- I am dying here, reading every post to Buddy! :lmao::lmao:My glass half empty guy said to be careful........it is only the beginning. I said "Pooh on you!" He ignored me, we have been together for almost 30 years and no matter how many time he tries to explain anythign football to me I am still lost. I only understand Superbowl Sunday Commercial and food.

SHeryl- we skipped Mass this morning too. I have not been able to sleep lately so I am up every night watching my DVR. I went back to bed and did not get up until after 8!

Has anyone heard from maria?

Well we have had company all day. SOme friends came by this mornign to return a pan and she had it filled with blueberry buckle. YUM! It had some of their own home grown wheat flour. She also brought their home grown potatoes, a gallon of their maple syrup and some of theior own corn meal. I need to figure out what to make with that. Can you maake corn muffins or corn bread with it? She has a recipe for polenta on the package but Buddy would eat dirt before polenta.

We are craving some sandwiches so dinner tonight is grinders on fresh rolls adn salt and vinegar After I have another glass of wine. BBL
