The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

Good morning everyone

Laura & Becky You all have a wonderful time at Disney. I'll be looking for you 2 and Aimee. I'll have my peepers looking for ya:3dglasses

We have another snow day here kids are SOOOO happy 2 in a row.

I really need to get packing haven't started and we leave Wed. am early (driving). My husband and a guy he works with were talking and he offered that since he was going down to to Bradenton his family has a big orange field that if we want we can come pick oranges some day think were going to do that to.

BBL :grouphug: to all

Last post before the trip! Thanks for all of the well wishes. I am sure we will have a great time. I still have not been able to add Greg to our California Grill ADR but I am thinking we may have better luck closer to the reservation date.

Laura's bringing Liam's laptop so we may check in with you guys once or twice. We'll have lots of photos to share for sure when we get back, I am bringing all three of my cameras! They'll be on facebook though, because Laura does not want me posting pictures of the kids here anymore.

WFD tonight: Laura's making a lasagna and bringing it to my house...she and the kids are spending the night at my place because I live closer to the airport.

I did get some of my packing done last night...and I think it's going to fit in my carry on ;) John on the other hand...I looked at what he laid out to pack and I think he has six pairs of jeans, crazy man. I will most definitely be editing his pile this evening!

Talk to you later, ladies! :)

PS- I need to go find more WFD friends on FB!:grouphug:

Ellen- Holy Smokes! That is scary! And cold!!!!!!!!!!! Thinking of you, your family and Jay

Becky- I know I am breaking every DIS rule but just bring Gregg to CG, talk to the CM checking you in. No way will they turn a Soldier who was able to get a leave before deploying to Afghanistan and who has never experienced Disney with his kids. The CM's on the phones cannot manipulate the schedule but the folks actually seating and managing their tables can manage what they need to.

I am with Nancy on this!!!! They can't say no to those kids big Irish eyes just wanting their Daddy with them!!! I can honestly tell you that we are the type of people that if overheard the situation would not only speak up but would offer up our reservation.....I am sure there will be others like that there!

I just have a moment to stop in....I went back to bed after Ross left and only got up a half hour ago:rolleyes1:headache: I only planned on sleeping till 8:30....ugh....I have a few things I need to get done around the house besides the everyday things....and I had hoped to have a few minutes to read, but I think I slept that away.

Lauren--My friend.....we are the one group you can count on to understand your hectic schedule...we don't expect to hear from you daily....we miss you of course, but understand your state of anxiety....a lot on your plate there Missy!!! Relax, pop in here and there so we know you are ok. I wish I lived closer so I could help you out, and Ross and A could hang. I know they would get along great...close in age and love sports and video games, lol...(nevermind food:rotfl:)

Gretchen--Kris has had computer issues at his office as well...they were down for 2 days in the middle of end of the year inventory...he said the tech guys worked all night trying to get it going.

Ellen--Brrrr!! (That is wicked scary...glad Doug came home when he did) I love to work the book fair...have fun!

Kat--Love the eating tips!! I am afraid that those are ones I can follow to well!! I need to get my butt back on my gym schedule..it got messed up when I had bronchitis..No excuses I have to start next Monday!!! (remind me I said that on Sunday:lmao:)

Nancy--Please give Kady a hug from me, hope she is feeling better soon!! I am sure Marisa is going to be exhausted tonight!

I am anxious to hear how Aimee's appointment went this morning!!
I also saw on FB that poor Vickie's migraine was back...I am worried about her as she is having some really serious symptoms with it! We might need to get on her to go to the Dr ladies is she isn't feeling better by the weekend!!

Ok I really need to go shower and get my butt moving!

Hugs to all who need it!! Good day to all!!:goodvibes

Supper is Hamb. gravy over noodles for Ross and mashed for Kris along with creamed corn (gag) I will have cukes or something!!

Morning Y'all,

I was going to say it's cold here, but obviously I know not of what I speak!!!

Janice, That's freakin cold!! Ellen, That is Hell froze over cold!!!

Laura & Becky, I guess I missed y'all. I'm praying that your family has the best vacation ever!!! :wizard::goodvibes

Stephanie, I will go check the websites. I wish I had known I was in the Black & Gold shop on Wednesday. I'll let you know what I find.

Kathy, Love that!!

Lauri D, How is your foot feeling?
.
Nancy, Enjoy your day with your girl!! I'm surprised but happy to hear that Marisa is doing well enough to travel for work.

Gretchen, I want to come to your house for dinner!

I wish I had taken a pic of the bread pudding plated with the sauce. It was so good.

Dinner tonight will be leftovers.

Gretchen - Glynis' inside out eggroll recipe is on the last thread under side items.

A quick fly by - I will BBL

Well the outside thermometer says -15 and it is D**n cold in my house this morning. We run our furnace on Propane. No natural gas way out here in the country. Last year we had to put in a new frunace and this one has a safety on it, that when the propane (which is a man made gas) gets to cold and turns to a liquid that it shuts down. Last year our old furnace without this safety feature finally plugged up. Matthew and I were in the house and turned the furnace on an filled the house with Carbon Monoxide. Doug just hapened to come home and realized what happened. Probably saved our lives - actually he did!! Anyway that is why it is on 52 degrees in here this morning - I AM FREEZING!!! We have wind chills of -32 so it will have to warm up a bit before the furnace will run. Oh the joys of living in the country!!

I am off again today and am going to go to Ehan's school to work at their Book Fair. It should be a fun day. Elizabeth and I had planned on doing this together but they are in Kearney getting ready to say goodbye to Jay as he leaves for Iraq at 6am tomorrow morning. So I am on my own today.

WFDT ~ Pesto Tortellini with a vodka sauce and garlic bread

Make it a great day my dear friends and stay warm.

Wow! I can honestly say that I would never leave the house if it was that cold. I don't do well with cold weather... *brrrr*

PM me your trip plans so we can see if we overlap!! :yay:

I concur.

Welp, things were discouraging but not horrible. He is afraid I have a partial bowel obstruction, which would be causing the intense spasms of pain, but he is also concerned about the fistulas he found in the scope since this new drug doesn't seem to be doing much. I have a small bowel followthrough on Tues morning so he can see what is going on better. He wants that before I leave on the trip. In the meantime, I get to go on high doses of evil Prednisone and keep my Vicodin handy. Hopefully the steroid will kick some of it down a bit. Once he sees the results on Tues, we'll know better what we're looking at. :sad2:

Aimee, I feel so sad for you! I will start praying for the prednisone to help a whole lot! You need to be feeling okay for your trip! Hugs  prayers :flower3: and a bit of Disney magic too!:wizard:

Oh Aimee.....How frustrating!!! Fingers crossed that the steriods start to work so you can have an enjoyable vacation...cause Lord knows you need it!!! ((((hugs))))

Sheryl--YUM on the pics!!!

Wow, fish from our admittedly meat and potatoes midwest girl. ;) Is Becky's tofu next? Or would your husband revolt?

:rotfl2::rotfl:Oh you are soooooo good!! Actually Doug came home around 2 and asked what was for dinner and I told him. He revolted BIG time, :scared1: so the Tofu would really be out. ;) I ended up with scrambled eggs with cheese and turkey sausage. Sad I know but at least he was happy.

Aimee, I am sad but happy that it isn't anything worse. Hopefully they will be able to figure out what is going on, on Tuesday. Please take care and let Disney make it feel all better.

Marilyn ~ I hope the computer bugs are all fixed. There is nothing more frustrating than computer problems when everything you do is on them.

LaurieD ~ How are you feeling better today? Surgery is surgery please take care.

Kat ~ I love the eating tips - my girls would not but I do. Thanks!!

Lauren ~ WooHoo!! You are up and running girlfriend.

Vickie~ Hope the headache is better today. If not get thee backside to the doctor. PLEASE!!

Janice ~ be careful out there today. No slipping around!!

Nancy ~ Have a wonderful day today with your angel. I get Ethan all day on saturday. I am very excited.

Ann ~ have a great day my friend

Stephanie ~ you have been added to my list. Expect a card real soon.

Sheryl ~ Your pictures had me drooling.

Well my fingers are finally thawed out. It got up to -5 and the furnace turned on. :cool1: :dance3: It is almost 65 in here and still runnng. Oh it is glorious!! But truth be told I would much rather be cold than hot. This girl does NOT do heat very good.

I am off to the Book Fair. Should be fun, but I wish Elizabeth was with me. We were so looking forward to this day together. She just text me a picture of Jay and Ethan going down a slide. They have holed up in a Hotel near the airport. Just a day of fun!! Before the day of heartbreak tomorrow. :sad1:

Have a great day and I will check in later tonight.

Dinner tonight is going to be meatloaf. :headache:

I didn't get home until late yesterday, walked in to find half the lights in the house on, no dinner and a piece of half eaten poundcake with a partial cup of milk sitting on the kitchen counter with crumbs all over the place. My DM's purse and coat were gone but I did walk through to make sure she wasn't lying somewhere. Called her on her cell, she didn't answer but she did call right back as she was walking in the front door. I made her go get me Burger King, she forgot to make dinner. :sad2:

Hey All,

Well, I popped on last night then fell asleep, over slept this morning and A missed the bus so I had to wake T and drive to school. I hope to be able to catch up later...I am on now as I eat lunch. I then have to go pick A and a friend up at school so they can hang.

Aimee, My prayers are with you to start feeling better and that they figure this all out quickly.

BBL to catch up...

dinner is grilled cheese and soup....easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Marilyn ~ I hope the computer bugs are all fixed.

No! I think this office has some sort of ghost or something! Last night it kept telling us that the computer wasn't hooked up, even though it was. Today it said it was ready to print but when I tried to print something the document just disappeared.

I made her go get me Burger King, she forgot to make dinner. :sad2:

Between you and me I could go for a Whopper with cheese right now!

Well, I popped on last night then fell asleep, over slept this morning and A missed the bus so I had to wake T and drive to school.

You overslept because you are tired. I wish I could figure out some way that you could relax but I honestly cannot. Please try to set a little time for you becasue you are bound to get sick if you are not careful.

You have me smiling thinking of your "kids" enjoying their family day :cloud9: My heart breaks for them tomorrow though. You are going to have so much fun with Ethan!

Buddy would rather chew glass than eat tofu :lmao: He would not even say that word, he thinks it is profanity!

Well the outside thermometer says -15 and it is D**n cold in my house this morning. We run our furnace on Propane.

Holy Smokes! COLD!!! I am not complaining any more!

I am geting jealous of our travelers!

Another one with too much going on  Try to get some rest

Nancy, Enjoy your day with your girl!! I'm surprised but happy to hear that Marisa is doing well enough to travel for work.

She is doing really well. She cannot drive but she can be driven. I think that PT she had before the surgery has a lot to do with her success, she was in good shape to start. Right now she is at a 75 degree bend for her knee which is lightyears better than the Dr had hoped for at this point. SHe is going to be tired though.

Kady made a miraculous recovery this morning :upsidedow

Welp, things were discouraging but not horrible.

I really hope that he can make this right!

I agree 100%!

I'll be keeping you in my prayers.

Hey All,

Well, I popped on last night then fell asleep, over slept this morning and A missed the bus so I had to wake T and drive to school.

Get some rest my friend.

Well Christmas came a little early for me. My Santa (Janice) called me today and left me the best voicemail message ever...Our split stay in Feb which was BWV/SSR has now become a complete BWV stay!:yay::cool1::banana::dance3::cheer2:

Just a quick checkin, it's been a busy day. I ventured off Cape Cod (a big deal for me!) and went to Target and some other places.

Ann- I was in Bath and Body works and they had they're antibacterial soaps on sale for $3, limit of 10. I think you were looking for a sale for them.

Roast chicken, mashed potatoes, and a veg for dinner.

Well the temp got all the way up to 8 degrees today. I am very gratefull that this cold snap is short lived. Tomorrow should be in the low 20's with the upper 30 for the weekend. :thumbsup2:woohoo:
Ellen Take of yourself this cold is dangerous.

Needless to say tonight we are having chicken tortilla soup and sandwiches. No library it is too cold to go out unless absolutely necessary. Sorry Pokemon is not a nescessity :rolleyes1

Aimee I really hope the doctor can stop your pain so you can have a great trip.

Lauren Take care of yourself.

Just checking in....

I have a wicked migraine today. I was drinking coffee for it, forgetting that most types of coffee tear my stomach to bits. :headache:

I read everything from yesterday and today and forgot what I was going to say. Stay warm up there. I can't say much. I was freezing this morning and it was like 45. :rolleyes1
