The What's For Dinner Thread - March '11 (recipe index in OP)

I recorded it to watch when I got up - watching now, actually. DVR is great! I can fastforward through stuff I don't care about and get extra sleep!

I thought she was stunning as a bride and they look very much in love.

There is a concert at church tonight I have to be at so dinner may be on the run again. The entire weekend looks that way, actually! Busy busy!

It was on during prime time for me; so I got to hang out on the Dis with the other wedding watchers. They all needed intravenous intake from STarbucks by the time we were finished!

and as for " The Wedding ".....Im saying nothing.

Are you sure you're a Scot Lass?

This is now my new favorite way to cook Bok Choy

It's mine too...but I prefer the Chinese broccoli or Gai Lan.

I doubled up on the spices and also added a good teaspoon of cayenne pepper.

Me neither! That is why I am hoping John gets them--I like to try new fishes.

That chicken was better than finger-lickin' good!

Busy day with shopping for work then I was able to get to my godsons lacrosse game. Was able to get some great shots of the game. :thumbsup2 They lost though and he was not happy at all. :scared:

This weekend will be so busy. Swimming for my DN tomorrow and Sunday. My youngest godson has a game tomorrow that I am not sure I will get to. His dad didn't know the time just that it is tomorrow. :headache: And I think my BFF wants me to go take pics of her oldest whose prom is tomorrow night.

Sunday after DN's swim meet I have to run her to a girl scout get together, not sure if I have to stay with her or not. My Dsis has to take her youngest to something and won't be there and her dad is a swim judge and will be at the meet all day.

After the swim meet I am going to go to my cousins for a little while.

I think I need a vacation. :rotfl:

Hope you survive to enjoy the vacation!!

WFDT - My DS wants 3 minute noodles for dinner. :sad2: I think I'll make an egg and bacon sandwich for myself!

WFD is a pizza cupcake recipe I found on PW. Mr A requested that. I was going to make it last night but we had a computer crisis. That sucked up most of my time.

In case I never mentioned I am starting to really hate IE. It has taken a dislike to me.

Princess I am not familiar with Gai Lan? We have a huge Japanese market about an hour away. I need to make a road trip soon, as soon as the gas prices come down some.

Gretchen – Are there any summer camps that Amanda might be interested in going to?

Ellen – I was up at 3 am watching the wedding! I thought everything was perfect, well except Princess Beatrice’s hat… :scared1:.

Vickie – I remember those sleep over nights of no sleep.

Becky – I love anything Leah Chase cooks!! Thanks for posting the recipe!

Nan – I’m sorry the library was shot down again.

Laura – Kyle has had the time of his life this baseball season. He’s made so many new friends and has traveled to so many places but I think the best thing has been his coach. He is an amazing mentor and man.:thumbsup2

Marilyn – You’ve got such a busy schedule, I got tired just reading it!:rotfl:

Janice – Pizza cupcake????? I hate IE as well, I use Firefox exclusively.

WFD - Shrimp & artichoke pasta and a spinach salad.

I'm seriously considering upgrading to a MAC laptop. Then I'll only have to deal with Safari instead of IE. But then I'll probably end up destroying that <apple> key, which I know I'm going to forget I need to use instead of the <control> key!

I hope your Japanese market also sells chinese groceries. It will be one of the fresh vegetables that has a greeny-blue leaf, sold in a bunch.

This Gai Lan would have been cooked in boiling water and then the oyster sauce added on top. I like to fry a little garlic in oil and pour that on top as well.

I watched the wedding in bits and pieces... I enjoyed it.

Worked today 6 hours at the library so had a quick dinner of chicken kung pao stir fry with rice and a fresh pineapple. For dessert later I have promised an old favorite of my men... homemade chocolate frosting and graham crackers, they make sandwiches out of it... yummy!

My DD comes home tomorrow for a couple of days then back to school for her last two finals then home for good. My in-laws are coming on Thursday after a several year absence :rolleyes1 this should be an interesting mother's day. It is opening weekend for my DS's school play too so it will be crazy.

I've already baked lemon bars and pumpkin muffins ahead for their visit. I need to bake a boston cream pie tomorrow for DD's birthday dessert :lovestruc tomorrow we are having dinner with my parents at Olive Garden for the birthday.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

I am bushed! In the process now of uploading videos and pictures. I took over 300 today. :sad2:

Taking forever for the first video to load to FB. Need to go find something to eat. Not sure why I'm so hungry tonight. I had a half a Panera sandwhich, which was big, and a bagel for dinner.

Good luck with all the prep! Are the inlaws staying with you? How long will they be here?

DH had a gig tonight at a restaurant on the lake so I ate there.

I posted a few pics on FB of the tea but here are a couple for those not on there:

Aimee - that table looks so fun!!! Congrats on a darling job!

Dinner tonight is a barbecue at my neighbor's house. They are having a court of honor for their son who is getting his Eagle Scout award tonight, and invited us to celebrate! Yeah! I don't have to cook!!!

Aimee Your table is just awesome:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I am stuggling to finish the laundry today. I just am not in the mood to do chores.:rolleyes1

Thanks guys! It was fun but a lot of work so I probably won't do it again for a few more years.

We have a church thing tonight (all the church things this weekend are KILLING me) - dinner is there.

It's cold and rainy today - literally, 50 degrees outside :confused3 Anyone else get hit with a cold front?

Really??? It's almost 90 here. I wonder if that's coming our way.

Oh Kat PLEASE blows some of it up this way in the low 60s and cloudy. Sure wish it would warm up up here.

I have no idea how you are not exhausted! I see your schedule and take a nap1

Kat- I am so excited for you! So soon your trip! I am happy to see tha tKyle had a good year. i was sad to see that enthusiasm he had for the game seem to dwindle so the year he has had is the best!

We just are having sandwiches....tuna of course. I helped Gail this morniong host a breakfast. She always invites a group of bikers to her home for breakfast before the CCMC miracle ride but this year she invited a large group in memory of Mike. A friend was taking his bike to ride one last time :sad1::sad1:. I have no idea how Gail is so strong, I am in awe. My SIS Il and I were holding back tears while she followed his bike out. Mike never missed a chance to ride for kids.
