The What's For Dinner Thread - March '11 (recipe index in OP)

That 7-Up pound cake recipe has me drooling! I'm thinking I may have to make that this weekend! Thanks!!!!

I'm going to my SIL's house for Bunco this weekend, and that cake, along with my crockpot cake would be yummy!!!

OMG I've never heard hail like this in my life. Kyle is pulled over on the side of the road waiting it out.:sad1:

Kathy stay safe.....Hope Kyle is home soon.

I put the Ann, Emma & Luke photos on FB if anyone is interested.

Vickie - what an honor for your family! That sounds like so much fun. Be sure and post pics on FB of y'all in your fancy attire.

Kat - I hate hail! I hope y'all don't get too much damage. I hope Kyle just hangs under an overpass until it passes and then gets home safely. It's scary out on the roads in that kind of weather.

Thanks y'all, we're fine. Johnny had to go get Kyle because his car wouldn't start but he's home. We're not sure what damage we have yet. There are a lot of houses on my street that flooded and we hear there was a tornado less than 2 miles away. There is another round of severe weather coming through before 2am so we're not done yet. We're under a tornado watch until 5am. I'm just thankful my boy is home and we are all safe. Love y'all for caring.:grouphug:

 I am so glad they made it back home!

I have been listening to the calls coming in on WWL. The stories are crazy.

This was a violent storm, and I didn't get the worst of it at my house.
They are now saying we could get up to 5" in the morning, and those storms could be as bad or worse as this one that just rolled through. :scared1:

I am going to see how much sleep I can get. :grouphug:

Holy Hail! I am so glad that you all are safe! I saw that Bethany is still in heavy weather so be careful.

VIckie- post pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maria- i saw the little cuties on FB this morning! Thanks for posting, they made my day!

janice- I am so going to make one of those cakes. If I sub yogurt so I need fuul fat or low fat? I generally buy nonfat. Also, is this a cake that needs to sit overnight to develop the flavor?

Last night we had eggs and toast for me and tuna sandwiches for Buddy. He had a Dr appt and we ended up having a famiily meet there. Dan and Erica were sick and had appts and Donny dropped by on his way home. We are nutz!

Tonight I have to cook something, and need to get to the store. I have a mutiny on my hands, Buddy has revolted on the high fiber bread. He said he likes 5 sandwiches and if he eats the Fiber One he can only eat one or two. I told him that was the point...............have one sandwich, drink lots of water and he will be healthy. He said that since I am dieting he is getting all of the healthy food he can stand.:dance3:

If using yogurt don't use the light version because of the artificial sweeteners. Also nothing last overnight in my house I have a teenager.:rolleyes1

I will be back later to chat.

Vickie, I hope you had fun at the Oscars! Did the boy win?

How are the New Orleans ladies this morning? Scary weather for you guys!

WFD: roasted sausages and grapes, olive bread.

Just checking in, we're Ok, still frazzled though. I'm stuck at home today because Kyle had to use my car to get to school since his is still stranded.

WFD - Lime/chipotle grilled pork chops, salsa rice and grilled corn.

Glad our NOLA friends escaped too much damage! I hate that spring brings with it those violent storms. Some storms are fun, esp lots of lightening, but when major hail and high winds get involved, the fun is over.

Another long Wednesday; tonight, we have a small group of kids hanging out late with me so we're going out for food somewhere. Likely Mickey D's. It's close and has ice cream

We sure did have a rough night here. Scary, but the damage skirted all around us. The wind had water pouring through the doors & windows at Angelina's gym. Luckily employees & clients moved computers, etc. away from the water. They have a clean up crew out there today. There was some really bad damage all around the gym, it could have been so much worse.

Vickie, Hope the boy enjoys the limelight! I think that's really cool that his school is doing that. Happy Birthday to Colin!!! :goodvibes

Gretchen, Have a great trip!!!

That's all I've got for now, was up last night & even though I got some sleep this morning, my brain is mushy.

Marilyn I have been at Joe's in years I used to love that place.

It was good, expensive, but good. Would actually have liked some KC barbeque but it was snowing like crazy out there.

I can't believe the rain missed you! I could have sworn the weather people were showing y'all in a severe weather pattern this weekend. Guess I better leave the weather stuff to Kenny from now on.

I work 6 miles from home. One day it was nice and sunny and they had predicted TS's. Nothing happened here but at home we had a brief, fast one with hail go through. Came home to find the front sidewalk covered with leaves and ice.

I use a non-fat I get from Trader Joes. It is a European style and basically it is milk and the yogurt making stuff. :thumbsup2 None of that artificial sweetener or thickening agent. Works really well. And the teenager would stay away from it. :lmao:

Trip was good, I think he has made his decision. Put info elsewhere about it. ;) We ended up taking our time coming home. I'll write a little trip report and will hopefully get it up by the end of this week. Will also put pics up on FB. Had a few little adventures.

Dinner tonight will be Spring Rolls my DM made last night.

That is some crazy weather you all are having. Glad everyone is okay.

So I am glad the wicked weather is over for my NOLA gals! Holy smokes! It was crazy!

Dinner is decided. I am having ham steak, corn, noodles adn gravy for Buddy and maybe barley or sweet potaotes for me. salad on the side

I found 2 lemon cake recipes I have used and liked

Thank you so much for the cake recipes! Can't wait to try one out for Easter!

Have a pot roast on the stove top cooking away, adding mashed potatoes and cooked carrots. Made brownies earlier. Yum.

Hi new to this thread. Vicb pot roast is my favorite with cooked carrots. I usually add potatoes to it and then mash them on my plate with butter and pot roast au jou.

WFD: baked chicken w/ garlic and rosemary seasonings, mashed potatoes, and mixed veggies.
