The What's for Dinner Thread- June 2012 (recipe index in OP)

Hi y'all

We had hokkein noodles with beef / veggies & terryaki sauce
I cooked it up in the wok in a jiff :)

Still thinking of what to cook tonight as less than a week to go before we fly out.
We need to do a small shop @ supermarket before we go, but don't want to go overboard, however
We didn't do our weekly shop last Saturday as we were both working / busy for weekend & attended a rather interesting birthday party ( BIL ) it was his 50th & by 3pm he had fallen asleep from doing shots of Gentleman Jacks ( Jack Daniels ) with everyone who attended the BBQ lunch.
Cheers
Dean

We too have a small shopping trip and eating things out of the fridge before we go... not long now and we get to have a DISmeet on a cruise!

The realtors are taking us out to dinner at a swanky restaurant tonight. It's sort of an old school place. I've never been there but they serve steaks and abalone and oysters and all sorts of good stuff. I will be so happy to get back to my own cooking after all the eating out we are doing!

That sounds yummy, hope you enjoy it!

Tuesday night and I'm waiting for the boys to get home. I can smell the baked potatoes in the oven; and there is a pot of spicy tomato lentils on the stove. We will heat up the bolognaise sauce and use that as well over the spuds.

Hope everyone is well.

PIO - Dinner sounds wonderful...

I am hoping to make a lentil burger when I get back!!!

I bought some lentil burger mix from the Vic Market the other day. I'm dying to try it out. I bought it without checking out the pack....but the company that makes it usually makes really good stuff.

Wednesday night dinner at mum's. Curry, rice and vegetables.

Sorry for the spottyness I have a project due tonight and am nowhere completed. We are eating grinders Ill check in tomorrow

Nancy, what you have been doing for yourself is amazing. I couldn't muster up that much ambition. I'm lucky that we can actually get it together to move!

We had a Rib Eye steak with leftover Rib Eye and baked potato. I made some frozen creamed spinach to go with it. We were over at the new house tonight, things are coming along....

We had a pizza... Wheat crust, onion, pepper, and sausage...

Alison - Glad to hear things are coming along...

Thank God it's Friday. What a work week it was! So happy that the weekend is here.

Dinner tonight was a simple ham and cheese toasted sandwich. I was home alone and couldn't be bothered with cooking.

TGIF - PIO you hit that right on! This work week

Dinner last night was Grilled chicken, Roasted Romanesco, and garden salad.

Remember my dinner from the other night for 15 years service? We went to the Flower Drum restaurant; one of the best restaurants in town. We had the Banquet.

Baked Crab Shell Fresh mud crab cooked in turmeric sauce together with a hint of onion and garlic then baked in the shell of a blue swimmer crab.

King George Whiting King George whiting pan seared and served with a shiitake mushroom sauce.

Quail Sang Choi Bao Minced quail meat cooked together with Chinese sausage, shiitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots and spring onion, served in a lettuce leaf.

Sauté Crayfish with Ginger and Garlic Sauté Crayfish, wok tossed
with ginger and a touch of garlic. Served with noodles.

Peking Duck Tender pieces of roast duck wrapped within a pancake accompanied by spring onion, cucumber and a touch of plum sauce.

We got two pieces each.

Grain Fed Eye Fillet w/Szechuan Sauce Black Angus eye fillet beef cooked medium rare and dressed in a spicy Szechuan sauce. Served with seasonal vegetables.

The Eye Fillet was served with Special Fried Rice; but I seemed to have missed taking a picture of my bowl.

We had a choice from 3 desserts. Lucky for us, between my dining companions and myself, we managed to select all 3.

Deep Fried Ice Cream Rickett’s Point organic vanilla ice-cream crumbed and fried. Served with a fresh mixed berry sauce.

Peking Toffee Apple Lightly battered apple covered in molten toffee and dipped in ice. Served with Rickett’s Point organic cinnamon ice-cream.

Banana Fritters Lightly battered banana deep fried with a toffee sauce. Served with Rickett’s Point organic vanilla ice-cream. Easily the pick of the bunch.

The meal was absolutely delightful!

And in case you're wondering......yes. I. absolutely. cook. like. this. every. night. :p
