The What's for Dinner Thread- June 2012 (recipe index in OP)

Dean - Hope that there is nothing serious with the eye?

Brandi - Dinner sounds delicious!

We're having friends over for dinner tonight. So, I'm cooking some fried rice and putting on sweet and sour chicken and a stir fry veg with it. I don't know if I'll be taking pictures today; I decided to send my camera in for a service/clean when I picked my lens up. I might see if I can *borrow* DH's camera for the afternoon.

Hi all!
Dean- I hope your eye issue is not serious.

PIO- I have not had company over for inner in way too long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made hicken and veg over rice for the guys working at teh shad. It is raw out, so I wanted something good and hot. ''Buddy and I are having hot chicken sandwiches and gravy if he ever gets out of the shower. I am starving!!!!!

I saw Lauren had a Winter White Cosmo, and had to look it up.

Ingredients
1 1/2 ounces cranberry vodka
1/2 ounce Cointreau liqueur
1 ounce lime juice
1 ounce white cranberry juice
3 -4 frozen cranberries
Directions
Combine ingredients over ice in a shaker tin. Shake and strain into chilled martini glass. Float 3 or 4 frozen cranberries on top for garnish.
Recipe offered from Bonefish Grill restaurants: www.bonefishgrill.com.

This is going into my Holiday recipes!

Mmm Mexican chipotle sounds nice.
I had an appointment with the eye surgeon today, so I didn't feel like cooking
We went to Fasta Pasta & I had Minestrone & appetiser sized lasagne which was huge ( yummy tho )
Brother in law's 50th birthday today, so we are having a BBQ :) ( along with a few beverages. Lol)

Hope your eyes are ok?

The lunch sounds good, and how wonderful a Birthday Celebration! Enjoy the food and beverages....

I think I might need to bring my camera in for cleaning also! The lens refurbish I had done this spring made a huge difference.

Have a wonderful dinner, looking forward to the pictures...

Mmm the White winter Cosmo sounds yummm :)

Thanks to all for your well wishes - unfortunately I have a monthly standard appointment with eye surgeon for macular degeneration
Treatment has significantly improved / stabilised my vision - but it's usually either an injection / or lazer therapy on most visits.
Strangely enough I prefer the injection in the eyeball. Lol

Tonight I have cooked shepherds pie using leftover veggies / ground beef topped with mashed potatoes & cheese & baked in the oven
Yumm for comfort food.
Will have to go shopping tomorrow

I think we are going to have to buy a new camera for our upcoming trip.
We plan on taking a few photos, but we are camera novices.
I think we will look for some automatic ( thinking point & shoot... Lol) & any duty free deals at the airport might get worthwhile

Brandi - I hope the sensor cleans makes a difference in the camera. I've just been noticing a few more spots on my pictures lately. I'll get it back tomorrow.

Nancy - That recipe looks potent!

Dean - Happy shopping!

Dinner was great last night. We really enjoyed having company over and as it was just the 3 of them (mom, dad and kid), we had decent conversation as well.

Today, I'm just chilling. I took out some bolognaise sauce that I had froze. Spags Bol might be on the recipe for dinner tonight.

Good Sunday Morning!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope everyone is enjoying a nice weekend!

I think I need to buy some small bottles of Cointreau and cranberry vodka so i can test run that cocktail. After I spend most of teh day on a project I have started for Cost Accounting, I am going to need a treat!

I also am not sure what to make for dinner. Last night I joined Marisa, Jeff and Kady, and Dan and Erica for inner at a local restaurant for Italian food. Dan and Erica left early this morning for their cruise and since my DDIL finds dinner out the night before vacation at this restaurant is a tradition, who am I to argue :thumbsup2 Erica grew up without a single tradition, so she tends to want to establish them, and I love that!

Well, Nola and Rylee are coming by this morning. They hate hate hate to shop with their Mom and have been coming here ever since Nola could protest the outing with Welby:rotfl2:I have shopped with her and I would protest too :rotfl:

Dean- It is good that there is finally some effective treatment for MD. I think that there needs to be more research into protecting vision longterm!

Dean - Glad that your eyes are being managed. Good luck with it all.

Nancy - Cost Accounting? You ARE going to have fun. :crazy2:

I have the choice between hamburgers for dinner tonight or spaghetti bols. We didn't end up cooking the pasta last night; DH and I realised we had a ton of food leftover so we tried to finish up the leftovers first.
Unfortunately, I had already taken the hamburgers out to defrost by that stage; so I guess we'll have leftovers one way of the other.

PIO- that is what Buddy andI are facing....a fridge full of food. I am glad of it though becaue he started a fire in the fireplace and I am parked in front of it with a glass of wine. I think heating leftovers sounds good!

shepherds pie is a standard comfort food for the winter here! David loves anything with Beef and Potatoes...

There are some great Point and Shoot models out there. I am sure you can find a good deal. Anything you are really looking for?

I think we'll be skipping dinner. We're on the very tail end of our Band weekend at Disney. After abiut 27 hours hanging out with friends, enjoying good food, wine and company as well as making great music together, I'm pooped. We had late late lunch as guess where PIO! Mmmmm lamburger....

Now we're doing none other than shopping. I found the cutest holiday minie & mickey figure. Then its home and a gkass of wine for me!

Mmmmmm. Now you've got me salivating for the Uva lambburger.

Thank goodness I've got standard burgers on the menu tonight. I might need to put some Feta and peppers with it.

Hi y'all

We had hokkein noodles with beef / veggies & terryaki sauce
I cooked it up in the wok in a jiff :)

Still thinking of what to cook tonight as less than a week to go before we fly out.
We need to do a small shop @ supermarket before we go, but don't want to go overboard, however
We didn't do our weekly shop last Saturday as we were both working / busy for weekend & attended a rather interesting birthday party ( BIL ) it was his 50th & by 3pm he had fallen asleep from doing shots of Gentleman Jacks ( Jack Daniels ) with everyone who attended the BBQ lunch.
Cheers
Dean

The realtors are taking us out to dinner at a swanky restaurant tonight. It's sort of an old school place. I've never been there but they serve steaks and abalone and oysters and all sorts of good stuff. I will be so happy to get back to my own cooking after all the eating out we are doing!
