The What's for Dinner Thread- June 2012 (recipe index in OP)

Been a long time since I've been on here. :wave2: For the longest time I kept getting a virus warning every time I clicked on the link to only this thread. :scared:

Not much cooking going on, which is the usual lately. Going to the game so dinner will be a hot dog at the game.

....the Nats? :confused3

....and, can you tell me ONE thing: why do hot dogs taste SOOOOO darned good at a game?

...she's chief cook and bottle-washer...not to mention NURSE, par excellence...

Thanks Kim, also don't forget feline caregiver, plumber and shipping wizard!

Fran is going to take me out for dinner at a neighborhood joint that has Prime Rib on Fridays and Saturdays for $9.99!

Not much cooking going on in my place at the moment. Life is one heck of a busy roller coaster!

$9.99 for Prime Rib?:faint:

..is it me or is the DIS running a little weird tonight? :confused3 None of the animated smilies are moving...neither is my cow-on-a-pole....which is actually a GOOD THING.

It could be you.....The cow on a pole is moving from where I'm sitting. But I've been having issues with the smileys as well.

...I don't see ANY of my tags OR that danged cow.....at first I thought that the Tag Fairy had taken it away.....:confused3

Everything is working for me, even your cow. Prime Rib was awesome! Burp!

So here's dinner tonight....

I started with a glass of Chardonnay ($3.50) and I added a salad onto my meal for $.99, Fran's came with soup or salad so she got clam chowder. It was decent and homemade, but nothing to write home about.

Way too many bean sprouts

Here's my Prime Rib

She got Fish and Chips (also $9.99)

They were good I had the small piece of fish on her plate, the one next to the tartar sauce. Technically I had Surf and Turf! We both ordered the garlic toast.

I ordered a glass of Cabernet with the main ($3.50). We had a $10 off a $20 purchase gift certificate from restaurant.com so the total bill after tax and tip came to about $38. Not bad since we both took home almost half our meals and were definitely full after what we ate of our dinners! The only thing was that the beans were canned and I don't do canned veggies, so I left them. We like this place!

Alison - looks like a great home style dinner.

WFDT? If the meat patties that I got from the Vic Market this morning thaw out in time, DS and I will be having hamburgers for dinner. If not, all 3 of us will be having cauliflower soup for dinner (which is what DH is having if the burgers work out).

Morning, all! Today dinner is at Panera since I have a session with my chess coach there. I'm not sure what I'll get. Eating at Panera is not as fun as it used to be since I started eating better. I normally got broccoli cheese soup or French onion soup in a bread bowl. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the ultimate comfort food. Now I usually make do with the 1/2 turkey artichoke panini. If only I could do salads. (long constitution story for another day) Anyway, at least I don't have to cook!

I'm also probably going to make some espresso brownies for my coach. After solving the big, "What are your vegetarian views on honey, eggs, dairy, etc.?" I can do pretty much anything for them, lol. I will probably throw those together this morning. At the very least, his kids (8 and 11) will go nuts for them.

I will try to take some pictures this weekend so you can see my progress. I did some major work in my closet this week (see Facebook) and got rid of a LOT of too-big clothes. I haven't shouted this from the rooftops for fear of judgement, but I will tell you guys:

I AM OUT OF PLUS-SIZE CLOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like I mentioned before, my pant size is the biggest thing I have dropped. My tops have taken me while, thanks to the "girls*." I went down to ladies pants/jeans awhile back but have had to work on tops. Now while I'm an XL in most, at least my sizing is not 1x, 2x, etc. This is been the biggest accomplishment for me.

Thanks to all of you for your support!!!! :cheer2:

*A note about "the girls:" While I have been extremely discouraged to have not gone down anywhere close to a cup size, my band size is smaller!!!! Yippee! This was one of the many times I cried on my mother's shoulder in the dressing room, lol. She actually laughed at me and asked me what the shame was in having C cup ta-tas? LOL. In all seriousness, she pointed out that sometimes people never lose in the actual breast, but rather the band size.

Lindsay - That is fantastic and I am in complete awe of you.

I'm not on FB; so if you have the time, I'd really appreciate a picture posted here. Alternatively, if you happen to have another youtube clip of you singing.....:thumbsup2
