The What's for Dinner Thread- June 2012 (recipe index in OP)

Dinner all done now. We are now gorging on strawberry cheesecake from Canter's deli. Bad choice, but oh so good.

We went out for dinner. I had a salad of spinach, rocket, peas, nuts, quinoa and warm braised lamb over it. YUM.

Hi! Well, I broke down and cleaned today, and boy! It feels so much better! I still have more to get done, but I at least I am not going to aploogize f someone stops in.

Ellen- Congrats on the iphone and ipad! I signed up at the Apple store for a class when I got mine, and the time was so worth it for me! Just remember that both are pretty similar so if you learn one, the other will follow. I took an Apple Applications class last semester, and let me tell you! That ipad can do a lot!

I was a little disappointing with out WW meeting the last time (okay it was a long time ago) I went.I have no problem sharing, but I was pretty mad that the leader did not want Marisa or me to share how we were doing on Core. At that time, it was still part of WW, but you cannot buy products on Core, and she did not want her sales impacted! Get what you want out of the meeting, and don't worry if you dont share your progress. We will support you here!

I still have not decided dinner. Buddy went to Mass, but I stayed here cleaning and finishing homework. He is doing well with the therapy. I see a difference in his mobility already! Good thing, because he really needs to get to work...just sayin!

I have no idea what's for dinner, I just know I'm not cooking it. We're out at DL and I'm about to ride BTMRR while Fran goes shopping for some new merchandise that was released last month and she has been patient, but since it didn't sell out, she is treating herself to the figures and artwork.

Ellen I hope you figure out your iPhone. I really like my Android and don't think I'd switch.

...what was for dinner last night? Grilled chicken, caulifower, and quinoa.

We had a very simple dinner last night.

Grilled chicken tenderloins, and some stir-fry asparagus and broccoli. We also had some mango for dessert.

Week 6 of the Quit Sugar diet and my thoughts are turning towards what I do to tweak my diet. I think I'm going to minimise carbs at the end of week 8.

Monday came way to fast.

Alison ~ I was SO with you on not wanting to change - I had a Galaxy and loved it. But I do have to admit I love the IPhone. And where I was getting an Ipad I wanted them to be compatible.
So glad you enjoyed the car museum. Yes, you do need to go back again and a again and....... Sounds amazing.

PIO ~ Yes you can get a pass to not weigh in. I hate that part! I really think I can do this on my own - I will give it a couple of months and then I will not go to the meetings. I really don't need anymore clingy friends telling what I need to do. :rotfl2:

Nan ~ Glad to hear Buddy is doing better. The nicer weather will help also.
You made me :rotfl2: with your suggestion that I go to an Apple Store. Honey, you have to remember I live in small town Nebraska. We are lucky we have a Wal Mart. And we do have another grocery store. I am not sure if Lincoln even has one - I am sure Omaha does, but that is 3 1/2 hours away. Everyone in the family has one (Iphone) - especially Matthew so he has been a big help. We got him an IPad when he graduated college last May so he can even help me with that.

Kimmar ~ We had quinoa for the first time on Saturday - we loved it. I am hooked. But geez it is really expensive. Any good recipes?

OH ladies it was b-e-a-u-t-I-f-u-l out yesterday and took full advantage of it. I even worked out in my flower beds some. We even grilled last night with a beer on the patio. I know it won't last - it is suppose to be cooler tomorrow and rain and they are even saying a few snow flakes. YUCK - but those days will be few and far between now. And even if it does snow (and I am SURE it will) at this point it won't last long. Come on spring!!

Well me and the Ipad are friends now......but early Saturday afternoon I wanted to throw it out the window. So much so that I had to put it down and let it be for awhile and walk away. But now we are friends again and I love them both.

WFDT ~ grilled pork chops and steamed broccoli with strawberries and fresh cream.

Make it a great day!

Ellen - Nice to see that there is good weather in your part of the world. Hope that you're enjoying your technology.

Alison - Sounds like it was an amazing preview.

Nancy - Way to go on the cleaning. I so need to do that here! Hope Buddy keeps getting better.

Brandi -

Kimmar - Quinoa? Seems to be the super grain flavour right now.

So today, DS come home with lemon muffins from his Home Ec class. MUFFINS!!! Both DH and I looked at each other and caved in. I had 1/2 of one. The things we do for our kids, right? :rotfl:

Tuesday night here. I think y'all know what I had for dinner better than me! ;)
Actually, I passed on the potato. I ate the lentils and mixed in some bacon, with coleslaw on the side. It was a nice hearty meal.

If I don't have enough confusion and new in my life, Doug and I went and got me a new Iphone and an Ipad last night. I am so excited as I only had a Galaxy before. But man oh man there is a lot to learn. I told him that I was going to get my phone set up first, then I will work on the Ipad. I have wanted one for so long. I just can't wait to get home and play with it all.

WFDT ~ Chicken and quinoa, roasted brussel sprouts and strawberries.

Make it a great day!

Ellen,

Go into iTunes, and search for a book call tips and tricks for iPad... It is free.
That will give you a very good basic tutorial for your iPad...

Have fun!

:wave2: Ellen

Thanks for asking. We ended up getting there late so we didn't get to run around and look at much other than the gallery that they were opening. And they ran out of the cupcakes! :sad2: I did get a few glasses of wine and a cup of coffee. It was fascinating. The new exhibit was on cars that bridged the "horse and buggy" to "self driven cars".

I learned that the reason rich folks had chauffers was that the cars were really a PITA to drive and maintain. They needed a specialist to take care of the cars. All the drivers sat in an uncovered (convertible like) part of the car while the rich folks they drove were in a covered compartment not subject to the elements. Nice rich people bought removable covers for their drivers, but most were subject to rain, sun, wind, whatever elements were out there. It was fascinating. They did an hour or so long presentations showing photos and other cars not present in the gallery. After we understood about the cars better we had about half an hour to 45 mintues to take a look around.

I chuckled because kids today who would not have heard the lecture would probably ask, "How come the servant gets the convertible?" :rotfl2:

We have a membership to the museum and this was the first time we got there. I'm looking forward to taking a day and going back and spending it just looking around. I told Fran we need to schedule it in the next month. There is also a Johnny Rockets attached to the museum, so we can make a day of it. Go up in the morning, see some exhibits. Have a burger and malt for lunch and finish up the museum in the afternoon.

Alison,
this sounds like a great evening, sorry no cupcakes!

But the next trip sounds really cool too...

Have fun

What wonderful news that Buddy is doing good already! Prayers, positive thoughts and pixie dust coming his way.

last night for dinner was a huge salad, roasted broccoli with "not-cheese" sauce, and a black bean burger...

It was all good...

Happy Hump day all!

Brandi ~ I wondered what Rocket was also, thanks for asking.

PIO ~ Lemon muffins.........what was he thinking. :lmao: You are a good Momma.

I got a call late Monday night from Elizabeth wondering if I could watch Liam on Tuesday. She had a field trip with Ethan and Liam was to go to a friend's day care but was not feeling good. So I made a few calls and was at their house at 6am yesterday morning. Oh the fun we had. Loved it!!

Last night Stephanie and I went to a Taste of Home Cooking Show. We had a ball, didn't win anything but fun none the less. We got some new recipes and hints so all was good. I didn't get home till 11:30 last night. I was a tired girl for sure. But in a really great way!!

My Committee is serving dinner tonight for our Lenten Service. I am in charge of the Chicken Noodle Soup - So that will be WFDT!!

Make it a great day!
