The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

Hey...

First off I feel so bad for asking youse guys for suggestions then not replying.

I didnt just bail, Ive been in bed most of the evening, still suffering with my tum.

It looks like your wonderful recipes will have to wait a few days.

Thank you all for taking the time and even looking thing up for me (ranch dressing mix, Nancy thank youse !!).

I guess is says more about me but youse guys kindness and helpfulness still takes me aback.

Well I'll put it this way......I have one left of the rasberry, haven't opened the orange yet. Something else to pack on my goodie list for F&W!!!!!!

So you're going to have these cookies and NUVO...I may come straight from the airport to your villa.

Please keep my Mom in your prayers all the changes at the hospital are still so unsettled & it's breaking her heart. I really don't know what to do for her.:sad1: Of course, I'll keep her in my prayers.

Hey...

Don't ever feel bad here, we are a family. Take care and hope you're feeling better soon.

I actually have a "goodies" list started for F&W!!!!

Cookies for breakfast, F&W for lunch & dinner & NUVO nightcaps!!

My PIMs are always in the international food section...

Another one here who's never heard of Pim's cookies.:confused3

Me either. Not sure if we HAVE an international foods aisle. :confused3

So this morning I fell flat onto my face this morning when I got up to hit the snooze button one of the times. I got up, hit the snooze, and went back to sleep. :rotfl:

I tripped over the luggage, which has been sitting in the middle of the floor since OCTOBER. See, I went to NOLA in October and left it out because only two months later, in December, I went to WDW. Then, I left it out again because only 2 months later, in February, I went to NOLA. When I got back, I didn't put it away because I had put something else in the closet where they are SUPPOSED to live. And I'm not going to put them away NOW, because I'm going to NOLA again in 2 weeks. So yeah....but this is the first time I've tripped over them....I know to walk around them! :lmao:

Home from class!

I think I may have a sinus infection or something. Every time I blow my nose it really hurts and there is sometimes this weird whistling noise. I am also having sinus pressure too. Going to try and call in the morning and see if I can get a Dr's appointment.

I haven't either but I've yet to meet a cookie I didn't like!

I'm sorry your tummy is still acting up. I've been having some Crohns issues so I feel your pain. Frustrating.

Tonight we ended up with BBQ - BOGO free. Were going to go for Taco Tuesday but there was a line just to get into the parking lot! No thanks.

Prayers for your mom! I'm so sorry that it's so hard for her, and you!

Just quickly checking in. My MIL was admitted to the hospital yesterday because her hemoglobin was so low they couldn't figure out how she was walking. They gave her 4 pints of blood and were going to keep her overnight.

My FIL called us before 5 this morning and said she has been diagnosed with leukemia. They are going to transfer her to Vanderbuilt sometime today. We are in the process of getting ready and going to the hospital. She is currently in ICU.

Please pray for all of us. Kevin is in FL for work right now and won't be back until probably Friday. I am feeling so helpless because really there is nothing either of us can do.

Lindsay - I will keep your MIL and your family in my prayers.

WFD - Grilled steaks, baked potatoes and a salad.

Good Morning,

Lindsay, prayers for you MIL...

Maria, Continued prayers for your Mom.

Marilyn, Hope you're feeling better today.

I hope everyone else is doing well...hugs for all!

Tonight I will be making sausage, peppers and onions and I think I will serve it over pasta. Salad and italian bread on the side.

Have a great day!

Good morning everyone, the suns out today!!!

Lindsay- I know you feel like there's nothing you can do, but just being there when you can goes along way.

Glynis- I was thinking of doing a make your own pizza party for my daughter this year, I had one when I was about her age and I loved it. I also told her we will not be inviting the whole class, just a few kids so we can do more fun stuff. Do you mind sharing how you made the hats?

Hope everyone who's under the weather is feeling better soon.

I don't know what's for dinner again tonight. I was going to roast the turkey breast, but I forgot my daughter has a concert so that won't work.

I am definitely making this one :thumbsup2Do you think a cast aluminum pot would work?

Can aluminum be heated to 500 degrees? I don't know, but you should probably check first. I don't want to be repsonsible for a big pile of melted alumnium on the floor of your oven!! :rotfl:

I am sorry.

My FIL called us before 5 this morning and said she has been diagnosed with leukemia.

Oh Lindsay, I am so sorry.

I ended up making indian food for dinner last night. I wanted to make mutter paneer, but my paneer was sour so I substituted cauliflower. It was actually really good, and of course cauliflower is healthier than paneer anyway. So here is mutter cauliflower, I guess, along with some chickpeas in a coconut curry sauce, basmati rice and (store bought) naan:

Nancy- If I have to stack another piece of wood I'm going to scream. Our wood pile is my height (that's not saying much) and we are on our 7th palate. At least he does the splitting, I failed pretty bad at that.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: I actually don't split or stack. I help but I don't do nearly as much as Buddy and Daniel. Buddy will be out there until dark until he weekend when he will have Dan and then they won't come up for air until it is done.

I told him he can't have chicken nuggets and mac and cheese every night.

He sounds like Kady :rotfl: She told me that tit was not fair that I cook dinner, if I did not she could then have good stuff....nuggets and her soy Mac and cheese

I feel so badly for her :grouphug: She is in my prayers

Going to try and call in the morning and see if I can get a Dr's appointment.

Let us know what the Dr says. There is so much going around that you have to go to the Dr to make sure you get better

Prayers said. Lindsay, just being there is a huge help to them.

Enjoy the concert!

I do need to cook though, Chinese is good but I have to WI on Monday and it won't be pretty if I have take out more than once a week.

Oh my, this looks sooooooo good! :yay:

Lindsay - You and your MIL and your entire family are in my prayers! Please keep us updated. Wish I lived closer so I could help.

Good for you, Mom! It's tough to get them to try new things. Hopefully, it will get easier.

Thanks, Glynis. There are going to be busy nights where we don't have time for anything else, but I really feel like Liam needs more variety in what he eats. He is getting into that boy stage where he is hungry all the time.

Scotlass -- I hope you are feeling better today.

I think I may have a sinus infection or something.

This is the season for that. I hope the doctor can see you and you get some relief.

My FIL called us before 5 this morning and said she has been diagnosed with leukemia.
 I'm so sorry Lindsay. Like others have said, being there is a great comfort.

I was thinking of doing a make your own pizza party for my daughter this year

One of Caili's friends did this last year, and the kids all had fun. The only problem was that they invited too many kids (the friend is a twin) and they were still pulling pizzas from the oven as the parents were arriving to pick up their children. If you keep the guest list small, it should be manageable.

Have fun at the concert!

I am thinking about making a turkey panini for my dinner tonight. I'll have to think of something else for the kids...I can't torture Liam two nights in a row.

ETA: Maria -- I'm sorry your mom's work situation is still unresolved. Good thoughts, prayers and pixie dust things turn out well.
