The What's for Dinner Thread - August 2014 (recipe index in OP)

OMG! The pork tenderloin with apples and sage was Soooooo good! That was a definite winner! Normally I don't like sweet and savory mixed foods but this was so good. I need to start a sage plant growing, as well as plant my basil.

Sorry about the wrong winshield Ellen. That's a pain in the butt. I wouldn't even know about all those fancy bells and whistles. I'm happy that our car has two seat settings for the drivers.

Tonight we're having chicken thighs and veggie stir fry. I have about 9 hours to come up with something interesting, otherwise it will be my regular balsamic chicken. I'd rather do something new, but I just woke up and I'm not feeling so creative. Plus I need to assemble tomorrow night's dinner so I can just come home and pop it in the oven.

What's the matter with it?
....does this clarify anything?

Ellen - that would have made me super mad too, and I would have *****ed and complained. I agree there is no customer service anymore.

Alison, i love it when a recipe comes together and everyone likes it.

Kim - good luck with that

OMG Kimmar067! That clarifies a LOT! I hope you have a bedroom that is not a Construction project! We were lucky enough to move AFTER our house looked like that and believe me it took us almost nine months to get there. And even then we still had four to five months of workmen in the house once we moved in.

Wet and Windy Friday here,

Well I have an update on my windshield. I immediately call my dealer this morning and he wanted me to come right out. Well Joe took one look and like me knew it wasn't right. So on the phone I got. After a total run around trying to get the right person I was able to leave a message for the manager. She called me back yesterday afternoon and was very nice and accommodating. As she should have been. They called Cadillac and was able to get the right numbers to order a new and right windshield. I have no idea what she did the first time - it should have been done right then - but anyway it is on it's way. I have to wait a week for the glue to dry on this one and they will replace it. They did reverse all charges and she said she will make this right with a good discount. So all in all I am happy, except that I have to take off work again to get it fixed right. :headache:

Kimmar ~ :crazy2: :headache: Oh my goodness. You aren't living in that are you? WOW!! Bless your heart!

Alison ~ I have to agree, there is nothing better than trying something new and loving it. I love sage and yes I have my plants planted. I have sage, rosemary, parsley and basil. I love that I can just go and pick what I need when I want it. I have tried and tried to keep them growing through our winters but they just don't make it. So I am always glad when I have them started again.

Brandi ~ Yes I totally agree - Customer Service is SO lacking that it is very very sad. It's a throw away world anymore so people just expect it. To sad:mad:

This weekend till next Tuesday is to be a total washout. We have rain forecasted for every day. 75% today and 90% for Saturday and Sunday. We didn't have any plans really except to work around the house. I really wanted to work in my flower beds as this rain would be perfect, but that didn't happen and won't get done. Oh well, at least when the rain stops the weeds will be easy to pull. :rolleyes1 I want to paint my kitchen so that is where I will be. Oh Joy!!

WFDT ~ Hot beef sandwiches with mashed potatoes and fresh peaches and cream.

Make it a great day and a wonderful weekend.

.....wellllll, technically, it's not a bedroom....we are 'stationed' in an enclosed porch....

David and I will be staining a console that we are building for the new TV today and tomorrow, temps are finally above 55 degrees.

We have beautiful sunshine today so I am excited.

WFDT? - Pizza

I am so darn angry this morning.

 I hope you get it sorted!!

....if you saw the condition of my new house, you'd understand why.....:teeth: ;)

....does this clarify anything?

OMG! I guess that's keeping you and DH very busy.
I hope you'll keep posting pics of the work from time to time. I'm always interested to see how reno's progress.

I need to start a sage plant growing

::yes:: I have sage in the garden. The flowers are lovely. I just don't seem to end up cooking with it very often.

We have beautiful sunshine today so I am excited.

YAY!

Life goes on as normal here. Autumn is here and the trees are turning yellow and brown. A few go red; and they are lovely.
It's definitely colder here and I'm glad that the truly hot days are over. We just need rain.

I'm having a rare day at home today. I've been out too much with the camera lately that home kinda feels foreign to me. And I've been missing chatting on the Dis.
If I get motivated, I might head out to the shops shortly and get a few things. Might even stop by the supermarket and pick stuff up and do some cooking. WFDT? I have no idea!

Hope everyone is well.

Today has been a work day, I so was yesterday, I really hate working on the weekend, especially since I don't get paid for it.

WFDT - Spinach potato soup for me, David is Salmon, pico, and brown rice

Building an ark Monday.

Good grief we have gotten over 5" of rain and it is still drizzling/raining this morning. We really did need it and for the most part the ground, at least around here, is taking it pretty good. Our fields were very dry and this rain we have gotten was over 4 days. There are parts of the state that are flooding but we are loving it. Now we just need for it to stop and dry a bit so we can get everything planted. These spring rains are worth millions to us on the plains and especially the dry land farmers. For the most part we are happy today.

Kimmar ~ Wow, you really are in the middle of construction. We are to but ours isn't new but remodel. Our home is over 120 years old so it is a dirty, and messy process that takes for ever. But I (and you) must remember how nice it will be when it is finished.

PIO ~ I know the feeling! I hadn't been home for a few weekends and I really needed to be home to get some things done. It felt good, but now I just wish I didn't have to leave. I love my job but I like being home way more.

Alison ~ I hope Fran and you are feeling better.

I got 2 of the walls in my kitchen cleaned and primed. Now to just get the paint on them. I had taken the ugly blue paint off of my cabinets a while ago and stained them. But I am ready for a change, so I am painting them again. Doug thinks I am crazy, and I probably am, it took me months to redo them the last time. But I just want a change. I am going with an off white on the walls and a very pretty mint green on the cabinets. I only have one small window over my sink, so I think this will brighten it up.

I also defrosted my deep freezer on Saturday. I try to do this twice a year when the season changes. It is amazing what I find. ;)

WFDT ~ Ham and bean soup with cornbread. It's a cold and rainy sort of day.

Make it a great day!

...right?

I'm feeling better. Fran is still coughing. I'm hoping she feels better enough next weekend to go out to the Disney F&W Festival.

Ellen that sounds like a big project! Especially with how busy you are!

Kim, Yay for walls!

I'm trying to get packed for our trip to WDW. Today is single digits day! I'm only on Day 5 of our Mississippi trip report.

Last night we had bacon wrapped flank steak, zucchini boats, and cornbread for dinner. Tonight is Dungeness Crab, Caesar salad, and Texas toast.

Good morning friends,

Alison ~ I can't believe your trip is right around the corner. I have heard about all the changes. I hope and pray from here on out it is smooth sailing for all of you.

When I came to work this morning the sun was shining and it was a beautiful day out. Now it has clouded up and looks like it is going to start raining. We really don't need anymore right now.

I have an Eye appointment right after work. I am so hoping I don't have a change as I hate getting new glasses. Our insurance covers a new pair, but I really don't want any. If there is a change I might just change lenses. I really don't think there will be any change as I am not having any problems. We shall see.

WFDT ~ Ham balls, cheesy potatoes and roasted beets.

Make it a great day!

OMG I made it to Tuesday night.

My project went live 8 am on Monday and boy was it a major application, a public facing, payment processing, and an admin section, with an XML interface, etc...
Not to bore you all with that, but it was huge, and critical and it went on time, and I have been sitting there for two days straight. But I am home.

What's for dinner, sweet potato and broccoli, David has Chicken to add to his.

Alison, how far is Ft. Irwin from you and Fran.

Alison, how far is Ft. Irwin from you and Fran.

Well the closest city to Ft. Irwin is Barstow, and that's 2 hours from us. I'm not sure how far Ft. Irwin is from Barstow, but Fran thinks it about 30 miles.

Darn, I was hoping it was closer. I will be at Ft. Irwin in July, which to me sounds really HOT, but I think I fly into Las Vegas? It will be a work trip, so I was trying to figure out if there was a way to swing out and meet you two in person. I think the hotel I will be staying at is in Barstow.

But again this is all based on me getting the new job... I was told I was getting an offer letter today.

Good morning my friends,

Brandi ~ WOOHOO!! Good for you, that sounds like a major accomplishment. So proud of you.
Fingers still crossed for the new job!!

Alison ~ How is the packing going? Not long now!!

Well the Eye Appointment went ok yesterday. I love my glasses and do not want to get new ones. I have a black Michael Kors and a brown Coach pair. I had a change in the right lens so that is all I am going to change. Yea me!!

We are raining again. OK I have had enough. For awhile it is nice, but now I need to see the sun. Everyone's disposition is suffering. I have heard since last Friday we have had over 8" of rain. ENOUGH!!

WFDT ~ Grilled teriyaki chicken breasts, with asparagus and strawberry shortcake.

Ellen, that is a lot of rain. I know people are really effected by it and get almost angry from it.

That was the project keeping me from the DIS. And of course we are working thru some issues right now, but nothing that is major?>

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day.
