The What's For Dinner Thread - August '09(recipe index in OP)

Hoping for a Saints win today!! I'm going shopping for some things for vacation today and then I'm trying a new recipe for BBQ shrimp fettucine. We discovered an awesome Asian restaurant last night...Dungeness crab in a black bean sauce...pure heaven! Have a great day ladies!!

Hi!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Buddy downloaded a virus and my computer was "frozen" until this morning. Jeff had to work hi smagic. I am so going to get a new computer!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am on Marisa's now while Kady is at catechism calss.

I tried to catch up but will never remember everything, hoping all of you who are sick or have those nasty infections get well soon.:hug:

Vickie- undercrackers :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Gretchen- give yourself time. I know that everyone says it takes time but it really does, for me it was almost like a dream. I went through the motions of something but it was as though I was not really there but watching someone else.
Maria-

Sheryl- I'll call you, dairy is way more than milk. There are dairy products in so many food, cake mix, pancake mix, frozen meatballs, hot dogs...it goes on and on. For now look to see if there is whey or cassein in the ingredient list. The product should also list milk under allergy info.

Friday night Marisa and I took Kady and her friend to dinner at an Italian restaurant and then out for ice cream. Last night Buddy surprised me with a wonderful meal at the Riverton Inn. He had enlisted Marisa to gather up my family along with gail, Debbie and her friend Alex and Kady's friend to join us. I never knew what was happneing until i walked in and they were all there. :goodvibes

Today we were supposed to go to the Big E, Kady saved the rides for her Pa. It is rainy and yucky so we are putting that off til the middle of the week and will go as soon as Buddy gets out of work. I don't go to fairs in the rain. I actually weighed in at WW on Friday so that I could eat my way all over New England!

I have to figure out dinner, we are supposed to get together with a neighbor to meet her parents but I don;t know what time or where so I will plan something easy for us to have. Marisa and Kady are coming for dinner and to watch Amazing Race with me.

Be back later after Marisa and I hook my computer up.

Aimee, Bethany, & I will have a pity party and hold down the fort here while you experience the magic together!

Kathy, toast away...and we will toast to all of you when we are there!!!!

-------
I'll join that party! Actually its nice to know there are still gonna be some of you here. I was thinking the entrie WFD thread was moving to Disney for the week :lmao:

We'll be doing burgers on the grill and spicy boiled potatoes for dinner.

Kathy- Rouse's had a couple of the Iron Chef sauces, a Garlic Sesame one and a Teriyaki sauce. The also had Iron Chef flavored panko crumbs.

Lauri U - Where were the sauces in the store, around the ketchup, bbq sauces?

Now y'all know I take my laptop on vacation and post so you're not getting rid of me for a week. I'll try and take pics and post too!:goodvibes

I was going to ask who was posting a live report throughout the trip - glad you already planned to!

Happy Birthday Nancy!! It sounds like you are having a really great weekend of celebrations!

I am home earlier today because we are going to the state fair for awhile and then to see Mary Poppins! :woohoo: Mom actually scheduled her trip to fall when it's here so we could see it together. I hope it's good!!

Dinner will be at the fair, likely. They have fried butter at our fair this year but I don't think I'm willing to try that...

Ohhh - pictures, I :lovestruc pictures! Take plenty, please!

I found them in the oriental section, the Rouses by me has a fairly large selection and they kind of are just in the middle of the group. I didn't even see the panko, Bob pointed it out to me after I walked further down the aisle.

Ya know, I love butter, but even I don't think I could try that...

Thanks Lauri, I'm going to look for them!:thumbsup2

Hi, everyone. I haven't checked in for a couple of days, but I have been reading along. I'm so glad that Caili is ok, and also Stephanie's kids. What a scary couple of days!!!

I took Jacob and the twins to see Up yesterday. What a wonderful movie! We all loved it. The beginning was difficult for me to sit through, as it reminded me of my mom. However, I thought the movie was great, and now I can't wait to own it!

We are still waiting on dad's test results. Hopefully we'll know everything tomorrow. I'm a nervous wreck, and have been snapping at Alan and the kids all day. I just want to "know", you know? I hate the unknown. Anyway, we're trying to be positive, and just wait. It's hard, though!

Dinner tonight will be roast pork with sweet potatoes, stuffing and roasted onions. I'm also making a pear pie with the rest of the pears from our tree. It smells wonderful. Can't wait to dig in. I think we'll be watching a movie as a family tonight, but we can't agree on one, so who knows what will happen.

Happy birthday, Nancy! I'm so glad I didn't miss it! I hope you enjoy your day (and your new computer)!

Kathy - was it today that Kyle was making a quick trip home? If so, I hope you enjoy your time with him!

Have a great day, everyone!

Glynis, still keeping Dad in my prayers. Stay positive.

---Went to my parents for lunch and watch the game. We ordered pizza.
DM & I shared a mixed green pizza. It was a salad style pizza with feta, marinated chicken, olives, red onions, diced tomatoes, on musclin greens.
It was heavenly. I have the rest for later on...DH won't eat it, to healthy for pizza!

Happy Birthday Nancy!

I'm trying to be normal, but it takes more effort than I thought it would.
 I hope Kenny is feeling better today. I know that is painful for everyone.

So, I went to the clinic thinking I had pink eye. Turns out it's a massive sinus infection that's seeping out through my tear duct.

That's gross, but at least it isn't pink eye. That is so hard to keep from infecting everyone. That is really scary about the accident. I am so glad everyone is okay, and the kids weren't traumatized.

Laura -
How does she react to a fall ?

Under the best circumstances, she does not enjoy falling. However, she knows how to fall, and most of the time, she is fine and gets right back up. Sometimes she needs a hug and a kiss. This time, though, it really scared her and I'm kind of surprised you didn't hear her screams all the way in Scotland. The girl has a really loud wail.

Ice skating (as many other sports) can be a dangerous sport to participate in.

Any sport comes with a degree of risk. Figure skating isn't usually considered a contact sport though! I'm glad you had a good retreat. I'm sorry the restaurant wasn't as good as it could have been, but at least you had nice company.

Aimee, Bethany, & I will have a pity party and hold down the fort here while you experience the magic together!

Becky and I will be here too. Nice win by the Pats today! :thumbsup2 I do not envy your husband being out in this weather though.

We are still waiting on dad's test results. Hopefully we'll know everything tomorrow. I'm a nervous wreck, and have been snapping at Alan and the kids all day. I just want to "know", you know?

It must be horrible waiting. I hope you hear good news tomorrow.

Welcome home, Maria!

Yesterday, I made linguine and clams for me and my neighbors. I made a pizza for the kids. Today, we had seafood fra diavlo, arugula salad and bread. Both meals were delicious, but I could probably slay a dragon with my garlic breath.

Caili developed a fever while we were at my parents' house. There has been a virus going around the neighborhood involving a fever, headache and sore throat, so I am guessing that is what she has. She won't be going to school tomorrow.

First, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Nancy!!!!!!!

Second, thanks for all the well wishes yesterday. After 2 days of treatment I am feeling almost 100%!

Third, oh I'll be posting pics from wdw too! Love my iPhone for that!!!

Laura--so sorry Caili is sick. PD that she gets better soon!

We had Frank's back a town chicken tonight. Got rave reviews from Katelyn! Now I'm headed out for a women's event at church.

Laura - Sorry to hear that Caili is sick, hopefully it won't last long.

Steph - Glad to hear you're doing so much better! That back a town chicken is so good, glad Katelyn liked it too!!!:thumbsup2

Another awesome win by our Saints!!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Undercrackers are exactly what you think they are Kat.

Two years supply every trip from Victorias Secrets.

And trust me,thats a lot of crackers !!

:rotfl:

I think only half of us are going to WDW ;), I am staying home although I was supposed to be there then. I hadn't said anything here because I wasn't sure if I would be able to meet anyone. My sis and I were going to take my DN for her 6th birthday and were only going from late Sunday afternoon to mid Tuesday afternoon.

My BIL is going to CA in February and she and the girls are going with him. She didn't really have the money for both trips and didn't really want Z to be out out of school for more days.

As some of you may already know, I didn't have to stalk Paula Deen afterall, I got to meet her!!!!!! :woohoo:

A friend of my sisters had extra tickets and gave them to another friend of my sisters and me! We were being rushed through the line because she had to leave for the airport so I didn't get a picture with her. Her DH Michael was with her and both of them were so nice and just smiley. We did stalk her though, we waited at the elevator for her to come out.

Dinner at the winery was just great. Best meal out that I've had in a long time. We had crab, lobster and shrimp bisque and I had a chicken saltimbocca and my friend had penne pasta with a lemon cream sauce. No dessert cause we thought we were going to explode. The portions were huge. If we had a designated driver we would have done the wine flight.

Laura I hope Caili feels well soon and that this is just a 24 hour virus. Around work there's a 3-4 day thing going around. I hope I miss it.

Stephanie Glad you are feeling better.

Merle I am glad you got to meet Paula she looks so fun.

Well that wine I had is starting to make me sleepy so I will try again tomorrow.
