Live still from OKW - the wind is kickng up and Fay's on her way...
I called for a ressie at the Wave at 3 PM yesterday and got in for 6:50.Duh -didn't realize it was not where Concourse used to be - it's on the main level!
The place is gorgeous - soothing in blues and golds and lights and with a tunnel-like circular entrance(wish the laptop had an SD slot). We were seated almost immediately in a relatively quiet, spacious dining room. No, there aren't any windows, but it doesn't matter. Our server, Amy, was finishing up with a large party and came over to let us know she'd be with us shortly. Without asking, I got a plate of lemons and the Equal for my iced tea( this is my usual - sometimes it hasn't happened). The kids had never seen paper straws before. The 7-grain bread came with some interesting butter with browned garlic salt atop.
DD opted for the kids' meal chicken tacos which, for $7.59, came with real haricots verts and baby carrots, and included a make-your-own sundae dessert. DS had the sliced marinated flank steak and subbed in fingerling potatoes. The marinade was milder than he's used to, but it was perfectly cooked. I had the tenderloin filet of beef with a side of greens salad and fingerlings. The cabernet sauce was similar to the one I enjoyed at Olivia's earlier in the week.MMMM!
DS and I shared the dessert sampler - there are 4 choices with 3 samples each. We chose the "decadent" sampler with lemon cornbread, chocolate mousse and blueberry compote with a small scoop of vanilla gelat
nly the cornbread was a miss - just a weird combo that didn't work for us.
The ambience is upscale and there were vacationers as well as conventioners. I peeked into the bar and the banquet seating in the front area and thought it would be an awesome place to relax with a cocktail - romantic even!
The check came to $74, which was less than the previous day's lunch at RFC Downtown Disney WITH the DVC discount for pizza and salads!!
Still, I can't wait to go back on DDP for the last part of our stay.
Try the WAVE!!! It's another hidden treasure!!!
