Just found out that some extended family will be at Disney when we're there, so we're trying to arrange dinner for 9 people one night. We'll be at different parks that day, without Park Hoppers, so I'm thinking eating at a resort would be best. We're all staying on-property, at Ft. Wilderness and Contemporary.

Looks like The Wave, Kona Cafe and Citricos are available when we'd want to dine. It will be 6 adults and 3 kids (7, 5, 3). Any recommendations on which would be a better choice?

We dined at The Wave last year for a late dinner and the food was very good. The restaurant is highly underrated.

We also had dinner at Kona Cafe and were slightly underwhelmed. Sushi was just okay and the other food was average. I had been wanting to try Kona for dinner and was slightly disappointed, although I hear lunch is excellent.

The atmosphere at the Wave is quieter and feels slightly more formal, but not in a bad way. Kona was very crowded and very loud.

I would highly recommend The Wave, and their pricing is reasonable. My only disclaimer is that we went for a date night and did not bring our two young children. We did take them to Kona, which they surprisingly slept through. I would say that both locations are suitable for children.

We have not eaten at Citricos, so can't provide comment.

Citrico's by far.
Citrico's is a signature location with far more quality of food and service than Kona, and much better than The Wave.

Citrico''s is a Signature Restaurant, and one of the more formal, quieter ones - at that. It will be far more expensive and for more adult that the other 2.
Although I have never eaten at the Wave, that would be my recommendation. Kona, while good, is loud and it would be hard to have a conversation

Depending on the time of your ADR, and your budget, I'd go with Citricos. Being a signature, it is expensive, and I would only go with young children if its a very early ADR and they know how to behave in a restaurant

We have enjoyed the food at the Wave, but we found it SO LOUD we could hardly hear each other without shouting. Perhaps we were just there on a particularly rowdy night? but we won't be back.

Kona, likewise, can be a bit loud, due to its location. But we have enjoyed the food.

I noticed you didn't mention GFC. Was it unavailable or did you rule it out for other reasons?

If you all want to sit together and be able to talk I would go with The Wave or Citricos. I don't think they can easily seat a party that size together at Kona's (unless your adr is right at opening) The Wave has a few tables for larger groups and I think Citricos may have an easier time putting tables together than Kona. We love The Wave and dine there almost every trip- the food has always been very fresh.

Im not very fond of the dinner menu at Kona, so I wouldnt recommend that place. Citrico's is good, but i was underwhelmed to be honest. I expected more for a signature restaurant. it is beautiful thou. I havent been to the Wave to be honest but i'd go with that one simply because the other two options just dont do anything for me.

This pretty much sums it up for almost every place in disney! If you read some of the posts on this board, its a constant complaint about most of the restaurants in disney.

Thanks, everybody! I think I'll go with The Wave -- sounds like the food is good and they have larger tables. And, it would cost my part of the group $50+ less than Citricos.

FYI - Just so you know Narcoossee's does seat groups of 8-12 at 5:30 if you call them directly also.
