We enjoyed it very much. But it was/is much like restaurants we would normally go to here at home (near DC). We were there 1st week Nov, on DDP, substituted a massive latte for our "non alchoholic" drink, had a few Margaritas with dinner. Food was great. Kid selections were fine, big and spacious, nice atmosphere. We will be going back a few times this June. We went the day we were at MK, so just hopped the Monorail to Contemporary.
I really enjoyed it on our September trip. The atmosphere was contemporary, the food was very good and we had good service. No complaints at all and I would definitely visit again.
We went there for lunch in December. We found the lunch menu to be a little uninspired. It is just a handful of salads and sandwiches with the only exception being the fish of the day. The food was good, but nothing that we were particularly excited about. The desserts were wonderful and the highlight of the meal. They come in the form of little tasting trios. The atmosphere was modern and it was quiet uncrowded even during the peak lunch hour. Only about 20% full.
I wouldn't recommend going for lunch. See below for the lunch menu at All Ears. It was the same when we were there.
For those of you who have been, did you find the lighting to be dim at dinner?
Yes, I know it's ambience, LOL. But my mother did not want to return to Kona Cafe this trip because she said her food was good but she couldn't see it.
I wanted to try The Wave, but I made our ADR at the GF Cafe instead because I know it's light, bright and airy there. Sheesh, and I thought it was bad enough working around the kids' preferences. My mom is worse.
The Wave was the best all around dining experience we had on our last trip. Atmosphere A+. Service was outstanding. The best cocktail that DBF & I had all week (although I am mighty fond of the gran marnier slushies in EP) and the kids had yum,my shakes. While the menu is a tad more limited than some other venues, everything we had was fabulous. Since there were four of us we got to try all of the desserts and all were great. And it was nice to sit down in a slightly nicer place that was not a 2 meal credit thing. We are going again in June for supper and breakfast.
Thank you, LOL. Maybe I'll save it for next trip and keep the GF Cafe this time for mom. Next time it will be just DD 6 and I. She loves to go to the Neverland Club. Do you think a solo diner would feel out of place at The Wave?

It is really a big place, I don't know that anyone would notice. They also seemed to have a bar area with tables, maybe out of the main dining room area would be possible. With the lighting, who would notice ?!!
SHHH!!!! Stop telling people the food is good. We had a wonderful meal there over Christmas, one of the best ever at WDW. Great server, great food. It needs to be a secret, like Le Cellier used to be.
This really bothers me and so many of the restaurants do it. My mother has an eye-disease that makes her nearly blind in dim lighting. I felt so bad for her as my brother and I navigated her around every queue line, restaurant, etc. She was not only embarassed by not being able to see, but it just constantly reminded her of her disease, which I'm sure put a damper on her vacation, though she'd never admit it to me.
We ate dinner at the Wave in November and we liked it very much. I did not find the restaurant to be dark. It is not overly bright but certainly not dark. More like recessed lighting I guess. It was probably the best overall meal we had. I choose 3 different items from different three trios for dessert. They were all wonderful. They hesitated at first to let me do it but I really didn't like all 3 items on any of the trios so they let me do it. They were a perfect ending to the meal!
We ate at The Wave in December. It was very good. It was darker than other restaurants, but not too dark. The crab cake appetizer was very good in my opinion, and our entrees were nice too. The high point of the meal is the trio of desserts that they serve. That was one of the main reasons we chose to get ADR's there in the first place.
My girls and (8 & 3) I ate there 7/08. We all loved it. My DD3 had the children's fish and my DD8 had butter noodles. I had the fish of the day. Yum, Yum!!
