The Walking Dead on AMC

In one of the first episodes, after arriving on the farm, someone made a big deal about asking whether or not they had closed the gate behind them. I think it was when they were rushing Carl into the house after being shot, not sure though.

So I assumed the farms perimeter was fenced in, and that's why they felt safe in the tents.

Yes I just watched that episode. Maggie asks Tbone and Glenn when they first arrive. Glenn and tbone are asking each other do they just walk in or what and then Maggie speaks and she is sitting on the porch and asks if they closed the gate.

So I just spent yesterday and today watching all the episodes. I had only caught a few here and there before. What a great show. I haven't read through all the thread quite yet, but I plan to. It's interesting to see people's take on things.
I may be in the minority but I like the various other story lines within the show. I think they have done a great job with character development and not just some zombie gore fest.

So, a few thoughts. Lori is not very bright. What the heck was she thinking going into town. Dumb dumb dumb. As for the baby, has Rick even considered it's not his? He knows about Lori and Shane.
I agree about riding around with the windows open. I kept saying close the windows!
The part where the arm falls off the truck. I wonder if that was to just show how desensitized they are becoming to the whole thing. I know they were upset over Sophia but I think that was different, but overall they do what they need to do and don't really think about it any more.
The other thing I noticed, which is going to sound strange, but just how many bras does Lori have? I have seen at least 4 now (hate that whole bra straps with tank look). How in the world does someone fighting for survival travel with so many? :rotfl:

Now that I have watched so many episodes in a row, next week will take forever to get here!

And what some people have said about what cdc guy whispered in Rick's ear. I don't think that is what he whispered. It just doesn't go with the flow of things and how Rick is reacting to his wife.

My theory is that Lori is going to have the baby and that baby will have the antibodies to ward off being a zombie or to kill the zombies. And that will be how the show eventually ends.

I would like that. I think Jenner whispered to Rick, after he checked all their blood, that they were all already infected. And that no matter how they die, unless it's by a blow to the head, they will come back a zombie.

And it would make sense at the end, to give it a hopeful spin, that somehow the baby has built up antibodies to the virus, and is "cured."

I give Rick a two-thumbs up on killing those dudes....but here is my fear...what if they are part of a bigger posse that we haven't seen yet?
I believe they are a part of a bigger group. The skinny one said that they had guys that needed "interaction" or something, that things had been rough on them, so I took that to infer they were a 'scout" team or something.

I missed the previews for next week, I guess. I'll have to go to the website, is it on there?

Wouldn't they have long sense shown signs of the "disease" though? I feel like when Andrea's sister turned it was quickly..not weeks or months down the road. Same with the other guy that was in the group early on that became infected.

I have always felt what Jenner told him was more along the lines of "there is no escaping it..you guys will get it eventually" type message. Maybe in that it would spread quicker/easier or something like that. Jenner clearly had no hope or he wouldn't have done what he did so it was obviously not an uplifting message. I know a lot of people think it was telling him Lori was pregnant but that doesn't make sense to me in regards to his reaction to her when she told him, his reaction to the news or the time he was I believe making a recording and started to say what Jenner told him and then cut himself off. I don't think his wife's pregnancy would have resulted in him acting the way he did while making the recording.

When was this? I don't remember a recording.

I think the key scene to answer your question is the one where Rick tells Shane of the pregancy. Shane has a hint of smile, since he believes he is the father, however, he never speaks this thought. Instead, after Rick begins to walk away he shouts "Congratulations", to which there is a long pause before Rick responds "Thanks". I think the fact that Rick never turned around, and the length of silence, spoke words for Rick's feelings about the paternity.

I feel the same way. I described it as if she was picking up a piece of wood. I think the upper level of that would be the fact she was willing to sit on the back of the truck with the zombie bodies. I also think the security they feel at the farm is going to be a problem for them if and when they leave. Notice how, after the barn scene, nobody was worried about screaming, etc, but before, it was all about not attracting the zombies?

I can't remember precisely what he was doing..in my memory he is making a recording...like a voice diary of what has happened/what is going and he starts to say something about what Jenner said and then stopped himself. Not certain what episode it was though..prior to Lori revealing the pregnancy but other than that not sure.

I don't remember exactly, but could you be recalling back when he was trying to get in touch (on the CB) with the man and his son from season 1 episode 1 and he was trying to warn them to stay away from Atlanta?

I hate to give her any credit, but Lori did say it wouldn't be a bad idea to leave (after Rick said Herschel wanted them gone) because the noise at the barn may have attracted Walkers. That said....WHY did she leave to go into town? She is such an idiot.

On a side note, I told my DH that I would NOT be strolling into the barn to get a shovel after all the Walkers had just come out of it like Andrea did :scared1:

Good pick up.

We've never been told 100% that a bite is what causes one to become a zombie. This is a virus and, just like any other, different people will react differently to it. "Just a matter of time" is definitely true for a lot of these so-called survivors.

Are the zombies really the "Walking" dead, or is it our pack of survivors?

I think they can get around this by saying that it's in a dormant state in the general population. But obviously if you get bitten or scratched by a walker, then you turn walker right away. Maybe all those scientists at the CDC who offed themselves came back as walkers, and Jenner had to put them down, and that was his first clue. Then, when Jenner checked their blood and said, "no surprises", that confirmed it. They all have the virus in them.

I agree that it probably wasn't about her being pregnant because Rick seemed surprised when he saw the abortion pills, and there was never any interaction between them that would make you think he knew that beforehand.

And Rick wasn't making a recording, he was talking on CB to those people in Atlanta from the first episodes. I don't really think he's expecting anyone on the other end will hear him... it's almost like his confessional.... he just talks to it when he has something to get off his chest. But he hasn't done that in awhile.

He promised the father and son that helped in in the beginning that he would broadcast every moring at sunrise. That is the premise for what he is doing when they show it.

They also left them a note and map when they left the campsite for the CDC.

Flesh on a corpse generally rots off the bone in 2-3 months. How long will it be before the Zombies are just skeletons?
:confused3

Well if everyone has the virus dormant inside them we will soon find out with the two guys Rick shot in the bar.

I loved when Darryl called Lori Olive Oyl. :lmao: She annoys me to no end, as does Andrea. Blech.

Loved seeing bad *** Rick!

The Talking Dead was great. We've been promised more zombies!

No, I believe he shot both of them in the head.

He did, and at the time I thought that was weird. Why shoot them in the head? They're dead due to a gun shot, not because of a zombie bite, so there's no chance of them becoming zombies...Zombies don't attack corpses, only the living. So why the gunshot to the head?

I think the speculation here, about what the doctor whispered to Rick at the CDC, may have something to do with his shooting them in the head.
