The Walking Dead on AMC

Does anyone else hate Lori? I mean, how long could Rick possibly have been "dead" for when she hooked up with Shane? She sure got over the "death" of her husband in a hurry.

I was saying the same thing!!! she seems to have been over poor Rick very quickly, and got with Shane.
when that all comes out, I can't imagine what will happen.
she is really annoying me too. Rick is such a good guy, how she could just forget about him when she thought he was dead:confused3

As a fan of the comics, I will say that after the crapshow that True Blood has become, I HOPE that the Walking Dead sticks to the comics. They are awesome!

:thumbsup2

I tell people I'd like to TIE allan ball to a chair and read him the Sookie Stackhouse books because he just stole the characters and basic storyline and I hate alot of his changes. He keeps killing off major players in like the first 8 books! GRr!

I've read the first like 60 issues of the WAlking Dead and I agree with you. Honor the comics because that's the story. You didn't create it. You're making a tv version. So while some things need to change most of it can be followed as written.

This is why I am always dissapointed when I watch a movie adapted from a book. They like 95% of the time get it wrong. I just don't get it. :confused3

Lori is simply hedging her bets. She wants/needs a man around to protect her, so as soon as she thought Rick was dead, she hooked up with Shane. Did you notice she recently asked Shane not to leave? She wants to keep Shane around in case Rick gets killed, she will still have a man.

Lori went with Shane because, before the virus outbreak, she saw him with no shirt. :rolleyes1

Seriously. I agree that she went with Shane because it was better than being alone. Sadly, I think Shane really does care about her and Carl.

I have a different take...

I think she really did fall in love with Shane...But when Rick came back she felt/feels an understandable since of loyalty(for lack of a better word) to him. I think she loves both of them in her own way.

Is it love, or is it a need to connect with someone you care deeply for because you share a traumatic experience? Strange how there is such a fine line of emotion. I suppose the same could be said for any of these characters who begin having romantic feelings for each other. This is why I say a romantic relationship between Daryl and Sophia's mom is a possibility. He is looking for her child and she is giving him the assurance that he is a good, respectable person. I think it is just deeper for Shame and Lori, since they were friends before the breakout.

I agree however if you remember the flashback episode were he is shot I believe she is talking to a friend about how he was great but she had been angry/fighting with him over nothing and seemed to not be happy with her marriage at that point. So things were rough on her end, he is assumed dead..not horribly odd she moved on so quickly.

I think She had a troubled marriage before Rick got shot. Maybe she was already having an affair with Shane.

Good point...

Just a reminder for Walking Dead fans that we have 2 episodes left for this "half" of the season. The plan is to go on Winter hiatus and then return in February for the 2nd half of Season 2.

Things are heating up and, if the comics are to be followed, they are approaching a perfect part to break this season in half.

I have only been a very diehard fan this season. Although I did manage to see all of first season!!!

I never realized that they split the season in half!!!!

Just a couple of things:

We call the kind ol' Southern Doctor in the farmhouse "Lotso". From the moment I saw his character he reminded me of Lotso Bear in TS3... 'Welcome ta Sunnisaad!". Nice and slow and syrupy sweet on the outside, but evil within.

I hate Lori, too, but I despise that idiot Andrea. You shot Darrel, you moron! I wish Maggie and Glenn would send HER a note that says, "Hey, Andrea! Party in the barn! Meet us in the loft, but keep your eyes closed cuz we have a SURPRISE for you!". Shove.

For Darrel to pull his last arrow out of his own torso and use it to kill the zombie gnawing on his feet? Totally badass. I love this show.

Nooooooooo!!!! TWD is pretty good stuff. I dread having to bid adieu for a few months.

Glad it's not just me. I am just not impressed with Lori.

...and somehow this doesn't help me like here any more.

Herschel = Lotso. :lmao: Hadn't thought of it that way.
Yep. Daryl is the MAN! The only way for him to be more badass would be if here were portrayed by Samuel L Jackson.

I have not read the graphic novels, so have no comment on how true the show stays to the source material. I just know I like the character of Daryl, so right there is one good reason I'm glad they showrunners took artistic license. Sorta like with Lafayette in True Blood. ;)

When Shane shot Otis, Shane was dead to me. I'm just counting the days now until the soulless cretin becomes a walker appetizer. I don't see how his character could be redeemed. His callous attitude about Sophia shows how this is true.
ALTHOUGH, like many, I agree that the Sophia arc needs to be played out. She's alive; she's dead; she's a walker... whatever, just get on with it.

The dude that plays Herschel is impressive. The darkness behind his character has always been juuuust close enough to the surface to feel. He has good restraint, and has not turned Herschel into a scenery-chewing sideshow. That is the only thing that has made it tolerable to center the action on the farm for so long now.

I will continue to resist the temptation to read the graphic novels. I like floating along with the show's narrative, free of a map.

I love this show, but it is time for Daryl to find the girl. If anyone else finds her, tragedy.

I have read the comics and HATED The Governor storyline with such a passion that I quit reading them. I am hoping that they stay away from that.

They have kinda gone towards the books but have def. changed it up a bit, I am hoping they don't follow it later though.

Okay, does anyone here think Herschal has really dark eyes that make him look evil??? I sure do!

And if I remember correctly, she knew she was in the wrong, because she said she wished he would just call her a ***** if that is how she was really behaving.....or something like that.

I am not familiar with "Lotso" or what TS3 means, however I like the description of syrupy sweet outside, evil within. Hits the nail on the head. They say evil hides behind scripture. I think it fits with him.

For me, badass was pulling the arrow through tip FIRST! Am I wrong to think he should have done some major internal damage that way?

Okay, does anyone here think Hershel has really dark eyes that make him look evil??? I sure do!

It is so complex with the way he looks at people. Face of stone, voice mono toned, yet the eyes are so dark and the contrast of the snow white eyebrows. The man speaks with his eyes.

Andrew I hate for shooting Darryl And that old bag who said "everyone wanted to shoot Darryl." Anyway, I don't hate Lori, she's just there to me. But I read the message boards for the Walking Dead on other sites and you are not alone- people can't stand her or the actress!

Long time lurker but have to come out to discuss.

I agree Sophia's story line needs to be closed. I think she will be found alive, non-zombiefied, and soon, as she is listed as being in 14/19 episodes of this show (I believe that includes the first season as well). That's logic, not gut feel talking. Ha.

Based on that, they are going to be at the farm for a while. Herschel is in 12 episodes.

Hate Lori. Hate Shane. Hate Carol. Hate Andrea. I wouldn't miss Dale if he disappeared. Glenn and T-Dog need more scenes. Rick is so-so. He's a little too down-home-good-boy for my taste but I can deal with him. Daryl is by far the best character on the show. Oh, and the zombie was definitely eating his boot (not the brightest crayon in the box, that walker). We actually paused it and slo-mo'd it, and you can see it pulling off a strip of rubber from the sole (what I initially thought was flesh).

Are the comics available online anywhere? I think I'd like to read them.

I think that he was just joking. For reasons I don't understand, he seems to really like Andrea.

Love Daryl! Who knew??? He was such a jerk in the beginning but he's really come around. I do kinda think he and Sophia's mom are maybe gonna get together. And I do think they will find Sophia, alive & not a walker!

Shane is for sure going 'round the bend, and I can't wait to see how far he'll crack when he hears Lori is pregnant. It will be interesting.

I think Lori went with Shane for protection/familiarity/loneliness. I do think she loves Rick, it's just not a perfect marriage.

Love Glenn! DH and I were cracking up during the pharmacy scene! too funny :rotfl2: Love the Winnebego dude too, although why he likes Andrea is beyond me. Stupid girl. Take her gun away.

If I recall correctly, in the very first episode before Rick is shot, he and Shane are sitting in the car discussing how Rick's marriage is not going so well and Shane says something to the effect about Lori being great and he should be happy with a woman like that. I only saw the episode once on it's original air date so I may be way off but that is what I remember.

Looke up the synopsis from IMDB - FLASHBACK: Rick and his partner Shane discuss the differences between men and women while eating lunch in their cruiser. Rick talks of his wife Lori and son Carl. Apparently, the couple had a fight the night before. "It's like she's pissed at me all the time and I don't know why," Rick explains to Shane. The pair then gets an urgent call.

Maybe I am imagining Shane's comments but it still seems to me like he said something of that sort. I am wondering as a pp said if she and Shane were already involved. Maybe someone that reads the comics has some knowledge of that?
