The Walking Dead on AMC

I'll be the dissenting voice - I love the Governor and I'm glad we're seeing some of his story, even if it is reverse of what I'd expected (in the books, he went from protector to psychopath, not the other way around). And I think David Morrissey is brilliant in the role so I was very happy to see him back again.

That said, I am a bit aggravated/impatient with the way they left the prison group hanging with the Carol situation as a dangling cliffhanger that wasn't even touched on tonight and from the looks of things might not be next week either.

Tonight's episode was easily the best of the season, so far. I loved how the Governor seems to be seeking redemption, or, rather, it's sort of falling into his lap. While I hope it keeps up and it provides a nice twist for the character, I think something will happen that will cause him to become a bad guy again, at least in Rick's eyes.

For example: The guy who was rolling with the Gov then abandoned him, then ran back into him at the end of the episode... I wonder if he'll attack some of Rick's group, get caught, and the Governor will be guilty by association even if the Gov had nothing to do with whatever bad thing happens.

I think he is going to snap again before we get back to current time. I don't see him going to the prison if he was redeemed. He would know trying to prove to them he is a good person would be pointless. I think he would just steer clear of them if that was the case.
It was a very interesting episode. I hope the delve into how he and Ramirez ended up apart.

Unless, he's seeking shelter for his new "family", and he knows that Rick's group is the most stable.

I think it's safe to say that he's NOT the one feeding the rats at the fence.

I liked this episode. It was a nice break from the prison. Interesting. I wonder if he will stay nice or turn evil again ? What was the point of him burning his picture ? Do u think he's going to let go of the past?

I personally enjoy the governor and I thought that tonight's show was interesting. I'm not convinced that he will redeem himself. I saw him as basically lost and unsure of what to do next which is definitely strange for the governor. I think that it will be fascinating to see where they go with this.

I liked this "twist" tonight showing us what the Governor has been up to----I think he is in a way trying to redeem himself but the violent ways he killed on tonight's episode show the "real" Governor is just under the surface.

Don't think all of his new "family" will be around long and it will push him over the edge where he is crazier than ever!

Let me preface this by saying I get confused between the show, books and comics.
Did the Governer almost seem afraid in the Nursing Home? Like he wasn't comfortable killing walkers? He always had others doing his dirty work for him (except against the few important characters) so is he really not that good of a walker-fighter? He was so hesitant in there, and then scared as he grabbed the two oxygen bottles and ran. I really would have expected him to have no problems taking out any walker in his way and bringing back the entire cart of O2.

I hope the delve into how he and Ramirez ended up apart.

What is there to delve into? They showed what happened. Governor was in a daze by the fire and didn't kill the walker coming at him so the next morning all his men were gone.

They talked about why the two left on Talking Dead. The Governor was one of the guests and he said they felt the Gov had "checked out" and they were kind of done with him so they left. You could see Ramirez shake his head in disgust when he had to shoot the walker heading for the Gov and the Gov was just sitting there in a daze. They felt he was going weak.

I think he is trying to redeem himself and this family he is with now reminds him of his own family and who he was before the apocalypse. I think being on his own for a couple of months was a wake up call. Before, he was so powerful at Woodbury and had legions of faithful followers. Then he finds himself alone and scared. He took shelter with the family and is finding his way again as a good person. I do think the "old" Governor is lurking below the surface and this new group they found will bring his evil out again.

Or he's there because he thinks his family will be safe with Martinez and is considering the idea of taking the place for his new group... Or Martinez is pushing him to try to take the prison, using his new "family" as leverage... He seemed to be alone outside of the prison but we don't yet know if he's really alone in the world or if he's just scouting. He has to know that there's no way Rick and Michonne would ever let him become a part of their group, so if he is looking at them for safety/stability he has to be thinking about how to take that safety for himself and his people.

I got that impression too. All the way through the episode he seemed uncomfortable/reluctant to kill walkers. He panicked in a relatively manageable situation in the nursing home, and even in the apartment with the bathtub walker he seemed to hesitate.

Well he couldn't bring back the whole cart because the story needed the old man gone so they could get moving on. I didn't like this episode, I missed everyone at the prison and can't believe they are making us wait on the Daryl/Carol issue. I don't care for the governor as a character so a whole show just for him was the pits! Why does he get to start over with a new family after all that he has done?? :confused3

It's been long since spoiled that this episode and the next one will be Governor-centered episodes, and the prison wouldn't be featured at all, so I knew going into it we won't be seeing Rick and the others for awhile. But it is setting up for a heck of a mid-season finale, with a major character death.

I personally enjoyed the Governor episode. It's plain boring to have a villain who is all-evil. This gave a little humanity to him, which was much needed. In fact, when he was holding onto Meghan at the end, I actually started to like him a little. I don't think he can ever redeem himself, but it shows his complexity and that he's not all "mwahahahaa I kill people and I love it!"

But yo. Hold off on the sex stuff, people. I don't care how hard the ZA makes it to get dates. The kid is Right. There.

I don't believe that was the next morning at all, his hair was much longer and he had a full beard, and it looked like a new location to me. I think there is plenty to delve into. It sounds like it might have been discussed on the Talking Dead, but I won't be able to watch that until tonight.

I really enjoyed it as well, and was suprised how easy it was to believe he has some humanity left. But yeah, sex, with two people right there? Come on! Yuck.
I don't think he has problems getting dates, heck, that's the 3rd woman he's slept with since we met him isn't it?

Yes he is definitely the ho of the ZA. :smokin:

I'm not picking up what the Governor is putting down. A few decent things doesn't erase all the terrible things we've seen him do in season 3. Plus, if he wanted to do right after all of this, why did he go back to the prison? He's still evil in my book. I don't even think he will ever be redeemed in my eyes.

We both think alike :wave2:

Yea, but they were sleeping :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Anyone else think Lily looks a lot like Maggie?

As far as the governor changing his stripes - I don't think that for a second. I think we'll see the old governor surface soon. The episode was good but I missed what was going on in the prison. Reminded me of last season when we would have woodbury episodes and prison episodes. 2 hours would fix that! One for each. :rotfl: Never can get enough.
