The walking dead amc #2

Father Gabriel's behavior is a little disturbing. Ripping pages out of the bible and then saying that Rick and Co are the bad guys, makes me wonder what is actually going through his head. He so should have not said those things. Hopefully Deanna doesn't believe it, and that Maggie puts him in his place.

The scavenging mission....At least Eugene stepped up and did what he needed to do.

Abraham, someone had to do it right? He's a take control kind of guy that didn't bail on the group.

I love that Eugene saved the day! He could have cowered in the little room with Tara waiting for the others to return, but his fondness for Tara pushed him into action.

Hated that Gabriel turned on Rick and co. I don't think Deanna bought it, but she may change her mind when Glenn and Eugene get back without her son.

Sad to see Noah go, but I thought I heard he got a part on another show so his days were numbered. Was a very gruesome death.

Don't think the will ever kill Daryl off, he is way too popular. There are actual t-shirts that say "if you kill Daryl, we riot!" I think the producers say things like, "everyone is a target to get killed off" but I don't believe it. I think Rick, and Daryl are safe from being killed off. JMO.

And Carl, I don't think Carl will every be killed off. Even though I wouldn't mind so much:duck:

Yay, finally a really good episode!

It's always the same thing-- whenever a character gets comfortable and starts talking about his future, he's always dead. If a small character is largely ignored and then has a big episode where he's featured prominently, he's always dead. Whenever anyone starts to offer a little bit of hope, he's always dead.

I loved that Eugene stepped up and took care of Tara and saved them. It was about time.

The revolving door scene was one of the grossest and all-out saddest scenes ever in that show. I couldn't sleep last night, thinking of it.

I do worry that Carol is jumping to conclusions and damning Pete without any true evidence. I know Pete is a bad guy in the comics, but what if his wife was just feeling sick, and that's why he said it wasn't a good time? What if Sam just wanted a gun because he's a trouble-making kid?

I think Deanna is going to soon start to regret her choices, after what Father Gabriel told her, when she finds out Aiden is dead, and if Rick starts to go after Pete. I have a strong feeling the other dude that accompanied them on the mission and survived may tell Deanna that Glenn, Tara, and Eugene had a hand in Aiden's death, because he'll be too cowardly to admit he was responsible for Noah's.

Also: The woman who was supposed to be the lookout while Abraham and his group were collecting scrap to build up the wall? Worthless.

I have the same worry about Deanna. She already seemed to be uneasy about her decisions to put so many of Rick's group into power and now Father Gabriel looses his marbles. I don't think Father Gabriel's mouth vomit would sway her but I am worried when she finds out her son is dead it will be different. I don't trust the guy that was friends with Aiden too. Basically he bailed on Aiden and left him for dead so he will likely blame it on someone else.

On another note: How in the heck are the people of Alexandria still alive? They go out on two missions and almost get everyone killed. I know they have been out before since they had to get the supplies to build the wall, get groceries, etc. I can't believe anyone ever made it back!

Better epi, but Father Gabriel doesn't make sense. He really didn't witness Rick's crazy days. I am trying hard to remember anything since his introduction that couldn't be viewed as self defense.

I was wondering this too. How are they so green when they have been having to make supply runs for like 18 months?

I agree! I know they said that Alexandria had been evacuated so there may have been less walkers in the beginning but that wall had to take a while to put up too before they were safe. They had to have some interaction with walkers then as well.

This is the reason Alexandria people are so unskilled with the walkers. They said in an earlier episode that the area was evacuated, among the first to be during the outbreak. They were pulled back in by the military. Because of this, people died elsewhere so there were few, if any, walkers in the area they were in during the beginning of Alexandria. That's how they managed to keep all the homes in tact and construct the walls as well. They've since been living inside, so have no combat experience with the walkers.

Definitely thought this was a much better episode. I was sad about Noah and felt his character was a waste. He didn't contribute much to the show, it would have been the same without him. There was some speculation that his character would tie in with the return of Morgan somehow, because when Noah was introduced he told Beth that he had come to Atlanta to search for his uncle and cousin (read: Morgan and his late son). I suppose that connection is still a possibility, but has much less of an impact with Noah now being dead.

I was glad to hear I think Rick say in the previews "they don't know what they're doing" - presumably about the Alexandria people. The guy with Abraham and the guys with Glenn had the same abandon mentality because they don't know what they're doing.

Speaking of the guy with Abraham, does anyone think he has a hidden agenda we haven't seen yet? What would be the purpose of him going to Deanna and telling her that Abraham is better than him? He could just be genuine, but that's rare in that world.

He did witness the Garrett and friends massacre in the church

But they were coming to kill them, so what were they supposed to do? Yes, they might have gone a little cuckoo for cocoa puffs when they did it, but they have been through a lot. It isn't like they are hunting people down and torturing them for the fun of it. I don't know what his deal is. It is strange. I think he is just having a mental break from the sins he is living with from decisions he made. He is a coward. Maybe he doesn't want them to rat him out for their suspicions of what he did.

I though the same thing about that guy. Didn't they also say it took 6 months to build the wall? I thought I heard them say that. They are definitely an every man for them selves community.

Yeah I think they did say something about it taking 6 months to build the wall, using materials from an unfinished shopping mall nearby. Since they were evacuated, anyone who died likely did so away from Alexandria. Now we are just seeing walkers who are slowly meandering through the country who happen to make their way there.

To my knowledge, Rick's group is the first group that Gabriel has encountered since the outbreak. We know he has guilt for shutting out his parishoners and I don't think he's been with any other humans since. So, when Rick & Co show up and are brutally killing zombies, I think it freaked him out. I don't think Fr Gabriel was even 100% convinced that zombies were dead and dangerous which is why he struggled with killing them. And then when Rick & Co kill the Terminus people inside the church, I think Fr Gabriel became even more wary of the group because he didn't understand that it's kill or be killed in the "real" world because he hadn't been in the world. And now with Gabriel in Alexandria and he sees these people who are more like him - not zombie savvy and not hardened from being on the road -- he feels compelled to blow in Rick & the gang. When really, they did what they needed to in order to survive. But Gabriel and Alexandria don't know that because they haven't had to truly life or death survive.

OK - that was a brutal episode. I guess they were making up for the last few episodes being so mellow ;)

I really don't know what to think of Gabriel. He has seen enough of the outside to know how bad it is. He is either really losing it (and really thinks Rick and Co. are the evil ones) or he is very calculating and knows that he won't get a fresh start now since they know what he did at the other church. I can't wait to see how this plays out.

And yep - I'm with the rest of you. How in the world did these people stay alive this long ;)

I was thinking about this too and thought that maybe he never wanted to be in charge of the whole operation but this is the job he was given because maybe he had the most experience. Now he had his excuse (Abraham) to hand over the reigns and just be a worker vs a boss who needs to answer to Deanna

Maybe Abraham is worried Rick and co will tell Deanna how he left his congregation outside his church to die.

I've been trying to think back since last night's episode of Father Gabriel's perspective on the group. He had limited exposure to them and didn't witness many "good" acts by them. Maybe he really does believe they are bad people?

Or maybe we, the viewer, no longer have an objective opinion of the group and, from an outsider's perspective, they are indeed "bad?"

I assume you mean F Gabriel, not Abraham. I just think he's gone round the bend. He thinks Rick is Satan and the rest of the gang are fallen apostles? I think he is no longer residing on planet earth.

They haven't eaten other people, raped anyone, left someone to die (other than Shane) or any other nefarious acts others have done. I'm still saying they're the good guys.

When father Gabriel left Deanna's house, did Maggie follow him out? I thought I heard someone screaming for help...

That was Glenn. The only reason I know for sure is because when I watched it the 2nd time I had the closed captions on and it said that it was
Glenn calling for help.
