The "waiting for SWA to open it's Nov/Dec dates" thread. NOW BOOKING THROUGH 12/12

How are people booking past Oct 28?
I just called and she said that will open up today or tomorrow through Dec 12.

Now this just steams me, last few years they've opened up in July all the way through mid January. Why the change to December? Can't wait until October to get my plane tickets. Ah well, not that it matters to a big corp like SW, but they may have just lost me to AA.

Last year 7/15 open through 12/11
7/29 open through 1/16

My guess is that they spread out the Thanksgiving release and Christmas release by a couple weeks so that we don't all call at once and crash the system (like today!!)

Dizzy4Dizney: The scheduled opened up for about 1/2 hr or less and then closed right back down and they removed the dated thru 12/12. We're not sure why.

:badpc: :badpc: you mean i have been sittin ghere staring at iflyswa for 3 weeks and i leave to go to the store to get my perscription at 10:00 and i come back and i missed it? :guilty: :badpc: :badpc:

I know how you feel. I checked SWA and nothing. Surfed the disboards for a half an hour or so, went to sign off the computer and BAM! It was open, but I didn't get through in time (10:17) agghhhhhh :badpc: Now I have to run out to the store.... I'm sure that'll be when it re-opens :sad2:

Yup! But the dates have been taken off for now. Due to be back up later, so don't run out again!!

I have my sister sitting on her computer for when I need to go to the bathroom or get a drink or eat. Am I obsessed or what???

We were able to confirm flights over Thanksgiving. I called SWA to see if they will be honored - They said yes . I hope so Barb

You and I both, Coaster Bob! Someone posted that they called at 9:42 and they were open.

My sister and I were both on at 10:07am. Her's went through and mine would not go through. I got an error message. It kept telling me about an error and that I needed to go back and fix it so I kept hitting the back button (when I would get that message) and the December fares were up there everytime I hit the back button (which was like 4 times) and then finally it gave me an error message that I was trying to book flights that were not yet released. At that time when I hit the back button it said fares open until October 28th and I almost had a heart attack!!!!!!

WE were on right at 10 and received an email confirmation. Barb

you are sooooo lucky! I had my flight to Orlando chosen but it closed before I could choose my return! Argh! This really sucks! :hourglass

This is really unfair. I was actually lucky that my husband could do this at work because I was giving directions on the phone for parent's day at camp.

Tell me about it! I know travelin' tigger told us to keep an eye out for Thursday and 10am. I was online at 9:00am but I was working on an application for a job I'm going for. My sis IM'd me (because she knew about the time thing) and asked me "Well, have they opened yet?" It was at that point that I realized what time it was and by then it was too late. If I had been more attentive I could have been at Southwest at like 9:55 and been ok by now.

:sad2:

Anyone know? SWA's "we're open for Dec-- oops, no we're not" fiasco kind of buried my question.......

When Southwest releases their booking dates through December, does that typically trigger other airlines to lower their fares? St. Louis to Orlando on American is over $300 right now for mid Dec. It's typically as low as $150-200. If it does have a domino effect, how long does that take?... days?.... weeks? We'd rather fly American because we're both very close to a free FF ticket.

I can't answer it. This is our first time flying Southwest to MCO. Generally we take Spirit but w/ Spirit's prices ever going higher we are trying Southwest. In the past, I never looked to see if it caused any wars because I always just went with Spirit. I know what you mean about the free ticket thing. That's why i want to go with Southwest. My sis has already earned a free flight with them and is on her way to her second. This is one of the main reasons we're going over to Southwest too, for the free tickets.

My sister needs to book flights for our 12/10-12/17 trip. Should she wait for the next batch of dates or book the first part now (when it reopens)?
