The "waiting for SWA to open it's Nov/Dec dates" thread. NOW BOOKING THROUGH 12/12

This is why I booked with America West!
All the aggravation wasn't worth the few extra $$.
GOOD LUCK to you all!

I'm really starting to feel this way.

I'm sure the CSR don't have any information on when the schedule will be re-extended.

It says a lot that you don't see all these threads with customers waiting for other airlines like Jet Blue to extend their schedule.

I too was bumped off in the middle of booking. The girl told me that the "glitch" in the system has not been fixed and the new answer is "we are not booking past oct. 28" I asked if they would be out later today as I was told earlier or tomorrow she answered " I would be surprised if they are released prior to next Tuesday"
I have a headache.

The first thing that shy'd me away was that there were no assigned seats. It makes me feel better I know I have my seats and don't have to worry about going online at 12:00am the night before my flight to get an "A" boarding pass, doesn't seem worth it all to me.

hhmmmm.....maybe the 16 hour drive won't be so bad. That is about how much time I have spent staring at this computer screen.

These are my thoughts after reading this thread all day...

I work for an advertising agency that is unpredictable and at times EXTREMELY stressful. I believe SW is just having one of those days where either someone posted the new schedule before it was approved by the higher ups (I wouldn't want to be responsible for all those flights to all those cities and back) or there were changes to the schedule so it had to be retracted before more people booked and would ultimately have to rebook their flights because of the schedule changes.

That said, SW is one of the few airlines that once the new schedule is released, it rarely IF EVER changes - no added flights, early morning flights removed, etc. making the angry comsumer who has all his/her plans made start from scratch to book the right flights.

So I think we'll all have to take a deep breath and check SW's site whenever you have a chance. Also, I know DIS transportation will have a new thread as soon as it is posted!!!

OK, now looking for my fire-extinguisher...

Yes, I'm sure they don't have any information. I guess that's what is pretty frustrating. I don't understand why Southwest doesn't give out their dates any farther in advance. I know people have explanations as to changing flight times and the like, but someone at Southwest should know that after such and such a date there will be no changes in the schedule so our next release date will be ____. But instead you get, we don't even know when that will be.

Now, they have actually released the dates and many people trying to patronize Southwest with their travel needs were shut out even while in the middle of the process. I certainly understand that computer malfunctions happen (hey, isn't that a way of life?) but to keep getting the "I have no clue" answers is aggravating. Good customer service would dictate that a statement be made to give to inquiring customers, who were involved with the whole now you see it, now you don't situation, IMHO.

Unfortunately, Jet Blue isn't in our flying area but I totally get what you're saying. Right now I'm tired and cranky from waiting on this all day because heaven forbid they release them again and pull them away. One of our party got on the flight we are not and we need to be together. Otherwise, I would seriously consider not even trying and go elsewhere.

Thanks again for listening. I'm generally a very happy go lucky person and tend not to be negative. This has just made me a bit ill today as I've been waiting since 10am.

No flames from me, Barb! You've been a tremendous help to me with the workings of Southwest. You're right, we all have those days sometimes. Unfortunately, their bad day has caused many of us a bad day  . As I said, I'm not generally a grouchy, negative person but I've slowly turned this way over the course of the day. Now, I know that no one made me sit here all day, waiting, but I've been at a loss for what to do as I've never dealt w/ SW before and this is all I could think to do. Do you think they'll not be out today? What would you advise? Well, I guess you did in your post. Just check when we get a chance and get on with the evening.

Thanks for your posts.

Just spoke to SW rep and was told there was a system malfunction earlier and they are trying to get the new dates back up before midnight tonight. Guess I'll have to cancel tonights plans and sit by computer! :confused3

I totally understand where you're coming from - it's just a frustrating situation all around!!! But imagine if you worked in the scheduling department at SW and EVERYONE is strumming their fingers on your desk because the computer server has a "glitch" that nobody can seem to fix, nevermind ALL those phone calls from the CSRs saying they're getting bombarded with phone calls from irritated customers who got cut-off in the middle of their reservation...

This is the first time in all my years of dealing with SW that I have seen this happen - and unfortunately in the real world, this does happen every once in a while!!!

See, it's working already!!!

Good luck everyone!!!

Do you think SWA reservations and and the people who decide to release AP rates are talking to one another???? ;)

Maybe I should borrow that flame suit..... Or maybe I'm just naive......
But do Southwest's low fares book up THAT fast to where you have to hit it the minute the schedule is released? Couldn't you just check every morning at 10am or whenever? It's not like you can book specific seats. I'm all for "PLAN! PLAN! PLAN!" but I think these fares are a bit easier to get than CRT.

I THINK that unless you're planning for Thanksgiving time, you should be OK...
but I could be wrong too!!! :confused3

:badpc: I do understand the problems with the computers. At my work i swear the computers are broken more often than working properly. So much for technolgy. :badpc:

I called the number for customer relations and spoke to a manager he assured me the best will be tomorrow but in all likelihood it will not be until Monday. could not explain the glitch but as I expressed my anguish that I could have driven half way to florida with the amount of time I have wasted on line he admitted it will definately NOT be tonight. He said if it is not up at 10am central tomorrow it will not be until Monday.

Oh and YES for thanksgiving week those few seats that are the bargain price are well worth the hassle- that is IF you can get them.

No, I think the accountants see lots of demand. People are more willing to buy these days.

Today, Delta lifted it's price cap and SW said, "hmmmmm - We can raise prices! or have less lower priced seats!"

So, if the computer has a "glitch", how come the "glitch" only affects bookings after 10/28? Are we dealing with a new Y2K bug that only affects SW and dates past 10/28/05? It's always easy to blame "the computer". The computer only does what you tell it to do.
