The "waiting for SWA to open it's Nov/Dec dates" thread. NOW BOOKING THROUGH 12/12

Good for you J&B!! I'm glad someone was lucky. I had my ressie 1/2 completed when the system went down. At that point there were only 5 $79 MHTto MCO seats left :( The reservationist was super. She kept me on for over 1/2 hr because she wanted me on the line if the system came back. It never did. She let me go when they announced that it would be later today before it came back up. I just called now and still nothin'! I, too, will be chained to the phone/computer today. Good thing I'm on vacation this week and just hangin out at home.

Is it more advantageous to call Southwest or just do it over the phone? My sister is telling me that Southwest only has 3 flights to Orlando on Thanksgiving when generally they have 6 flying. ~ Just a little info for ya'. ~

I prefer to call and talk with a live person. Just called (11:10 EST). No open yet.

Some of their flight times have changed. We usually take the 11:50 am non-stop from MCO to MHT. It now is leaving at 11:15 am.

I just got off the phone with them also and said maybe not this afternoon, but maybe monday. they were helpful, but said the system is not even loaded right now to release them again. But she did say to check this afternoon. How can the flights be sold out already if they only were open for half an hour is it worth the wait?

AGH!!!! I had just checked it a little bit ago and it wasn't open, then I saw it was open here, went back in, still showed 10/28, checked back here and saw thread about it being "down" so guess I'll just TRY to hang loose. Only 1/2 of our trip will be opne, and it's not over a holiday weekend, so I probably don't have to really worry, it 's just after waiting.... I'm eager to now get at least 1/2 booked.

I was able to book 4 tickets MHT to MCO for Nov 5-Nov 14. $175.40. I then tried to book my daughter who is coming down on the 10th and got an error.i hope I can get her tickets to come home on the same flight with us at the same price!

I was online too and didn't get the ressie in time :badpc:
Now, I guess I just sit here and wait :sad2:

I have seen this in past years where they don't have as many flights running on the actual holiday. I think this is normal. Demand is lower, so they run fewer flights. Makes sense to me. :)

this is ridiculous-worse than waiting for ap rates to come out
now we dont know when to watch for the rates
i watch on tues and thurs but now with the system being down it could be at any time

Well, I guess there are usually like 6 different flight times to choose from on any given day but on Thanksgiving, you only have a choice from 3 times.

I just got off the phone w/ Southwest and spoke to Lisa, a real nice girl. She thought she could book for me. She knew about the fares and was all set to go. Then, she put me on hold for a bit of time to come back and tell me that the people who are in charge of releasing the fares have completely closed them. Not even the supervisor's know when they'll open back up but most likely today. Just keep trying she said. Oh, and she did apologize that she couldn't help.

Now this just steams me, last few years they've opened up in July all the way through mid January. Why the change to December? Can't wait until October to get my plane tickets. Ah well, not that it matters to a big corp like SW, but they may have just lost me to AA.

I read on their website that they were announcing their 2nd quarter profits at a press conference at 11 am today. Wonder if they will wait until that is over with?

The new "Ding" came out about the time that the system stopped letting Nov/Dec ressies go through and the ding is through 3pm today through Oct. 28th.
Could that be the hang up? Maybe the few lucky ones that got through actually got lower rates than SWA had planned?

Last July the SW schedule only opened up until Dec. 11, the July in 2003 only until Dec. 10.

The next set of dates opened up in the end of July (both in 2003 & 2004) for dates thru mid Jan.

Just a little patience....(believe me, I'm waiting too!!!) :teeth:

I got flights for 12/2 - 12/6 from Providence right around 10 AM EST for $79.
I was late for a meeting!! I went to look at 11:15 to see how fast the seats are going and it is back to October 28. I just got in before their system crashed. :cool1:

Congrats to those who got their flights! :cool1:

Still waiting. I just called and the CSA told me to expect them late tonight at the earliest. :guilty:

Whew, ok :teeth: Didn't realize there were TWO releases in July. Someone up there at corporate has a twisted sense of humor, "dance puppets, dance!" :rotfl:

I just called and the reservationist had no idea when. I wonder if they are just saying later tonight so that everyone doesn't keep calling them? This is not how I wanted to spend today, stuck in front of the computer/phone. But I guess at least I'm not at work today -- as I couldn't spend all day doing this.
