The Voice: Season 2 Official Thread

Hi Everyone! I've been off the boards for a while but I wanted to put my 2 cents in.

Backing up a couple of weeks, The Shields Brothers were ROBBED! I love these guys and was sooooo upset when they were let go over ERIN MARTIN?!?!? Really? I had no idea who they were before the auditions, but since then I have had a couple of online conversations with both of them. Rory said they are still waiting for Ashton Kutcher to tell them they've been Punk'd. Needless to say they were disappointed over Cee-Lo's decision.

If you have only seen them on The Voice, it really didn't do them justice. Check these out:

Love love love them. Love them.

At any rate, I haven't watched over the last couple of weeks because I was so ticked off at what OBVIOUSLY was a decision based on something other than a VOICE. So now I'm trying to play catch up.

I guess they got some exposure, though. Looks like Vince Neil was tweeting about them, they got mentioned in Rolling Stone, and I think some producer for Motley Crue is doing their album.

the song choices last night for horrible. so many of them just did not suit the artists at all.

both Tonys had terrible songs. the mentors pick right? it seemed like some sabotage going on with many of them. and Christina was a jerk to Tony Lucca. what the heck? it isn't his fault that he has Justin Timberlake pulling for him. i understand that SHE can't because she's a mentor on the show. but why shouldn't his friends pull for him. Matt Morris (also on MMC) is also posting up a storm for Tony. they're his friends. they should support him.

and Erin is horrible. i really hope she goes home. she does not deserve to be there.

i haven't figured out how they count the votes either. i voted many times for Tony Lucca. i figured it would cut me off, but it didn't. :confused3

Erin definitely better go home tonight or I smell something rotten in Denmark, LOL!

Cristina really was such a jerk last night - really, really shrewish.

Really Blake? You don't understand PRODUCTION numbers? Is he drunk or what half the time??

I was under the impression that they suggest but the contestant has the final say. They did pick the songs during the Battle Rounds though.

I think she is that wasy many nights to the people she doesn't like. It isn't hard to figure out her favourites.

With Blake, I thought he was saying that sometimes all the production was a distraction and was quite odd. Afterall, it is a singing competition. I don't remember that much production last year.

I agree about the song choices. Really? Nora Jones for a 20 something young man?

COULD NOT AGREE MORE that Christina was a real jerk to Tony. I personally don't think he's that good either, but jeez, you guys knew each other back in the day, at least you could have SOMETHING nice to say, but no, just smack him down on live TV! What a B----! I used to say Christina Aguilera was great, only knowing her voice and not her personality. Now I'm finding that the more I see of her the less I like. From her inappropriate clothing choices to her batting her eyelashes, to acting like a spoiled B---- to the other judges AND the contestants...:sad2: Someone really needs to tell her this is not the Christina show!

Yes, Erin is horrible and should ever have made it through. And looking at Cee Lo's face while she was singing, he knew it too! But sorry, bunkkinsmom, I didn't think the Shields brothers were that great either. Which illustrates my point, that some of the contestants who went home (because they were up against a really great singer and SOMEONE had to go) are much better than others who stayed because their competition wasn't that tough.

there was someone, and i can't remember who, that Cee-lo said, "I picked this song..." that led me to believe that the mentors choose or have a lot of influence over the choice.

I didn't watch last year, have no comparison. However, it seems like they blame the contestants, I'm sure they are not the ones doing all the staging. :confused3

I'm thinking along the same lines, I think the coach certainly tries to influence the decision. With Karla, I think she came in with the song and Adam did suggest something else but in the end went with her choice.

I think Cristina's favorites are the ones on her team. ;) Seems like last week she picked on Blake's team members but thought everyone on Team Xtina "really brought it." She really liked Juliet last night and I don't recall her saying anything bad about Jamar, but the rest of them she found something to criticize. I thought Mathai was great but Christina called her "lounge-y;" I think that's what they were going for and pulled it off (it was a John Legend song, after all). It was also nice to actually hear the singer's voice for a change.

And I agree with Blake that many of the productions are way overdone, but that's what you're going to get from Cee Lo and Christina. I do hope that the producers tone things down, so we can actually focus on the voices and not all the background stuff.

No one else liked Juliett Simms? I thought she killed "Roxanne".

Way to be a b----- to Tony Lucca. I think he's personable and probably could have a career. Maybe Xtina doesn't get along with Justin Timberlake?

I have a disconnect with the show this season. I cannot stand RaeLynn and I don't get how America voted for her. Also don't get James Massone. Really, people?

I missed part of the show and will have to watch it again. And most of SMASH.

I loved Juliet, so did the judges, and so have the commentators I've read today. I think she's a shoo-in to move forward, hence no one's really talking about her.

I'm right there with you on RaeLynn and James, but I do think he's much better than her. How he's gotten to be a teenage heartthrob is beyond me. I think the headband looks silly, too.

i get that Christina doesn't like those not on her team, for the most part. but she was downright rude to Tony. it went a little beyond being critical. she was pretty nasty.

yes, the productions are over the top a lot of times. and on some of the songs, i could barely hear the actual singer over the music.

Absolutely agree that she was rude and condescending to Tony. It really made her look bad and seems to have rallied support for Tony. I admit, I cast a couple of votes for Tony just because she was so ugly to him (plus, I've liked him from the beginning and "In Your Eyes" is one of my all-time favorite songs).
I read a few reviews of last night's show and all mentioned that Christina was downright rude (and unfair) to Tony.

I missed the first five performances last night (darned malfunctioning DVR) and so watched them this morning on the computer. It seems like maybe they remixed the songs to bring up the vocals and take down the music. I could hear the voices much better on the computer than I could last night through the TV.

Juliet ranked the highest on Itunes today, with Mathai, Jamar and James pulling up the bottom the the Top 100. Tony Vincent and Pip scored on the Itunes Pop Chart. They're probably all going to go thru.

Erin and Raelynn are backed by Vote For the Worst. :rolleyes1

I think the judges are more of a distraction than the production numbers. They all have agendas so who cares what they think? ;)

i am happy with Adam's final four. i think Cee-lo chose incorrectly tonight. and i cannot believe James made it through. i also thought that Cee-lo should've chosen Tony. i will admit that Cheesa sang that song amazingly well, but i think Tony has a slightly better shot at winning than her.

although, i don't know that either of them have a real chance of winning, so maybe it doesn't matter. i'm just glad he didn't put Erin through.

No worries, to each their own!

By the way, I have to make a correction on a previous post. Not Vince Neil, Brett Michaels. Sorry. And my love for them has a lot to do with the fact that I get sooooo tired of seeing the same junk all the time. I mean, how many other Billy Idol covers have you seen on a singing competition? Everybody loves an underdog with a story, but it gets tiresome after a while. It seems there is always some sort of tragedy, drug use, homelessness, parental issue, etc.... That's why I don't watch Idol or AGT anymore. BUT I LOVED the premise of The Voice. And last year, even though I think Javier is very marketable, I do think they picked the best VOICE. It was coincidence that he is handsome with a great smile.

At any rate, before the blind auditions this year, all of the other contestants spent their backstage interviews very somber and serious, very pensive. The Shields Brothers said "We just wanna punch America in the face with Rock and Roll." I loved them right there. FUN! They are fun! Did they have the best voices in the competition? No. They didn't. Were they better than Erin Martin screeching Tina Turner. Uh, yeah. Obviously. My point is just that she got through based on what she looks like and what she was wearing. Cee Lo and Blake even made comments about it. I think I saw a camera angle where when Cee Lo announced his decision Adam looked at him like he had 4 heads. And Cee Lo said he couldn't work with their sound that they were too limited. Aren't you a world class producer?

Either way, I don't think we've heard the last of them. And I for one will buy the album.

:thumbsup2

Erin Martin went home last night, so all is right with the world.

How many are they going to eliminate next week? Please, please let one of them be RaeLynn!

Has anyone here read Blake Shelton's tweets? If that is really him the man has serious problems.

His latest gem:

I'm so drunk right now I just walked into the airport pulled down my pants and shouted "This is my only carry on.. But I could use a hand!!"
