The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Owners & Lovers Group - 3.0

Photos and reports of the CCV soft refurb rooms are starting to roll in. They got the same as VGC hard goods refurb (but maybe not actually a hard goods like it was supposed to be, who knows what the truth is) can’t say anything about appliances since the report was a studio.

Edit: maybe they got more… CCV has new paint and usb-c in the outlets

I’m expecting a large % in dues increase…. we are obviously underfunded….

Haha, the choice of thread confused me, I was wait ... CCV or VGC lol. I'm hitting VGC in October (woohoo finally a Halloween stay), and CCV in January, so excited either way ;)

lol. Yeah just posting here since I still think VGC has been unfairly shunned and people were saying that other recent refurbs have also not been good. Well we had BLT and now CCV to prove otherwise.

But isn't VGC supposed to be a Full Refurbishment, and CCV just soft goods? Refurb Sch.jpg

We are on day 4 of 8 at VGC, our first stay here. I am really not happy with it. Why? It has ruined every other DVC resort for me. I was not anticipating the room size (studio) or how pristine the room is (even if the "full" refurb doesn't match what was done on the WDW side). Craftsman Bar / Grill is also awesome.

And, those pool chairs. Wow. For the record they did replace the cushions between June 30 and July 2 but they are just as good as before.

Fellow VGC owners, help me out with something.

Sorry this is a bit off topic. I have reservations currently for both Lamplight Lounge and Lamplight Dining on the Boardwalk.

I know the menus are different, but there any other reason to prefer one over the other? I want to cancel one, but I'm not sure if one is considered more of a "must do".

Boardwalk Dining is outside, can't see the decor inside and there is nothing special with the theming....but on the other hand you can get the lobster nachos.

We did dining. We liked being outside next to the wheel. Reminded us of way back when it was Ariels Grotto

We always go with the Lounge.

Thank you!

I think I would also prefer the outside part (and I've probably just guaranteed it will rain by saying that). We don't need a big fancy meal, but I didn't want to cancel one to mind out it's an awesome don't-miss experience.

AstroBlasters what is it you prefer about the Lounge? Just the more fleshed-out menu?

Shade and bigger menu.

Okay so after Astro said bigger menu I went and looked at my reservation and it says Lamplight Lounge. So maybe I did Lounge and not Dining?? Hmmmm we did sit outside though by requesting it.

Edit to add we did brunch

I think the Boardwalk dining part only recently started accepting reservations, so if you had one in the past it was probably the Lounge.

In any event, it's all clear as mud now 🤣

I think I'll sit tight and check the weather the day of :)

Ahhh possibly this was about 6 months ago, sorry for my unhelpful helpfulness 😂

You can sit outside as part of the lounge. Right along the water.
