Anyone currently staying at VGC? I had a work trip out here and stopped at the parks for the weekend, but I’m staying at VDH.

I noticed that the whole DVC section of VGC is covers with scaffolding and scrim… kinda curious how crappy that is making it to look out windows and see scrim… is it super dark in the rooms.

I have a 5 night staying coming up on April 27th… so I’m a bit concerned about this…. I’m kind of hoping they will be done with exterior painting or whatever in that section by then.

My check-in was early March and I would have been upset if my view was blocked no matter what room I was assigned. This was the letter given to me at check-in.

Ehh that’s not nice. To put salt on the wound the rooms are not even getting a very good update.

Might not feel so bad about it if I knew we were getting a nice hard goods update… but instead, we’re getting the cheapest one that they’ve ever done

Yep, we had a fantastic view but no access to the balcony to really enjoy it. Super sad for our first time guests, but thankfully they were basically park warriors the entire time.

We had the same metal lock device on the slider, and then the door from the living room to the balcony was zip tied closed. It wasn’t too awful during the weekend as no construction was taking place, but Monday morning the teens discovered someone right outside the window as they were waking up (their sleep in day).

We love love love VGC, but it’s kinda a bummer right now. This is basically what it looks like everywhere on that side of GCH/VGC:

what exactly are they doing out there… painting? If they’ve been working on it for three weeks already, I’m hoping they’ll be done in four weeks when I stay.

I’m staying at the Disneyland Hotel DVC Tower right now… bathrooms are pretty nice here, i’m just saying. They also have the Keurig machine

Oh… and last time I was here, I noticed that they removed the sliding mirror door on the closet that didn’t work out for whatever reason… they did end up replacing that with the door that matches the other ones

Also… I feel kind of weird saying this but I might actually like Napa Rose just a little bit better than Jiko… and I freaking love Jiko.

Anyone see any updates from the 3BR GVs? Hopeful to see what they have done to them before our trip for the 70th.

These exterior fixes/refresh don't seem to be DVC only right? I think it's part of a bigger push to have the grand refreshed before the 70th.

I feel like we kind of lucked out by skipping spring break at DLR this year and doing it at WDW (doing the make two long trips on the WDW AP hack this cycle).

Also… I feel kind of weird saying this but I might actually like Napa Rose just a little bit better than Jiko… and I freaking love Jiko.

Napa Rosa is an amazing but very expensive meal. Never been to Jiko but we need to. We love Boma too much so we kind of just go there for our last few WDW trips. Going to switch it up to Tiffins this time.

Tiffins was really good.

My youngest said the steak from the kids menu was better than the steak from Narccoosse’s the night before.

Just had a stay there this week on the 5th floor. Would’ve had a perfect view of DCA, but it was blocked by scrimmage and scaffolding. Upsetting to say the least, but we made do.

It does look like they’re working on the floors in stages. The second floor now has limited access to it. My guess is the first floor will be next.

I will say, although we received a soft refurbed room, the restrooms could use some TLC. Some of the handle bars on the showers were rusted and loose. Plus the sink in the restroom looked a bit shabby. Hope they refurb the restrooms soon! Would hate to come back next year and see the restrooms still in that shape.

Overall, an okay stay. In-room dining is limited with no hot food available. My kids were really bummed they couldn’t get their traditional mickey waffles delivered to the room each morning. But if was fun to see the star wars deathstar set up in the lobby and the goodie cart.

Yes, already did. I left some other pictures out, but there was also some cracks in the grout and some black gunk (maybe mold?)on the edges in and outside around the showers.

I’ll keep y'all updated with the response I get. Fingers crossed theres more refurbishments to come!

I was at VGC a week ago on the ground floor. The first day, the windows were uncovered and the workers had set up a break area on the patio. The following day had plastic on the windows. It was all fine. This was related to exterior painting.

They were doing a refurb on the 2nd floor. A bit of extra noise starting around 8:30, but it was also fine.

I have not yet seen photos of the refurbished rooms.

Just got an email survey about DVC. There was a question about dues. I made sure to include that I didn't feel my dues were funding the refurbishment at VGC correctly. I made sure to notate the bathrooms need updating and that it has been reported that they will not be refurbed.
