Another question, I just watched a video tour of the wheelchair accessible studio at VGC. I noticed it doesn't have a pull out sofa but instead a fold down sofa to twin like in the hotel side rooms. I am assuming there must be another bed surface then to sleep 4. Is the chair in there a twin sleeper chair?
Yes, the other sleep surface is a twin sleeper chair, because I’ve gotten assigned these studio types before.

I see this in the description now. Do you remember how comfortable it was?
My sister used it, and she had no complaints, but she’s also not too picky. I do recall it was not super soft, ie there was some support to it as if it hadn’t been used a lot. I think it is a bit narrower than a standard twin mattress, if that helps any.

Hotels are subject to the Transient Tax. Did you pay the tax you were moved from to the DVC side to the hotel side at WDW?
Totally different. If you get walked from a DVC points booking in Florida you pay $0 for your hotel room so the tax owed is $0.

In Anaheim, the rule for timeshares is about the value of the accommodation, regardless of what you paid. It’s not written how sales taxes usually are. I think it’s still an open question, although I imagine Disney would do right by their guest.

That was helpful. I mean I slept on a pull out couch in a studio at the VGC about 5 years ago and that thing wasn't the greatest either. I suspected as much.

Makes sense. I figured with a full refurb it might get quite noisy on adjoining floors, but it is much smaller.
Just to add a bit more, there are only about four of each room type on the first 5 floors and only one of each on the sixth floor, with some non-DVC studios within the DVC wing. It is tiny.

Hi, everyone! I did a waitlist for the first time at VGC for July 2024. I did for a 1 bedroom and 2nd waitlist request for a 2 bedroom.

Can anyone tell me what your previous experience was with waitlists being granted at VGC? Any comments are appreciated! :flower1::love:

:thanks:
I'm curious if this worked out for you? I just did a waitlist for November and I'm guessing I should waitlist at the Disneyland DVC too as that would work, but not my home (and preferred) resort.

As this is a group of owners with home resort priority, I’m not sure if it’s the best statistically significant group to ask about 7-month waitlisting.

I’ll be cancelling a late Sept studio booking, one night and not an Oogie Boogie Bash night, if anyone wants to check for availability in a few minutes.

sorry, I guess I should have sent a private message to pepe3penelope. (I own a VGC and have never waitlisted anywhere)

Nothing to apologize for, and I am sorry if I came across as being short with you.

I just think that most owners, yourself included, probably don’t have a huge experience with waitlisting VGC because it’s the reason we paid a kings random to get home resort priority.

I also think that 70% of the people who stay at VDH book a VGC waitlist at the 7m mark to avoid the tax and that will create a longer waitlist.

Probably better to stalk.

How many dvc points do you think owners of grand Cali has just for the grand Cali

In (what I think is) the latest Multi-Site Public Offering Statement (https://cdn1.parksmedia.wdprapps.di..._Public_Offering_Statement_Rev-02-01-2024.pdf), it indicates there are 3,371 'club members' at Grand Californian.

Grand Cali is 1,136,865 points and assuming 100% of it is owned by 'club members' then the average works out to 337.2pts per 'club members'.

Coincidentally, I own 340 points at VGC. Shockingly average.

That, by the way, is way more points per owner than I expected for a resort most people only stay at a few nights at a time.
Saaaaame.

Did some maths...turns out it's probably the highest of all the resorts! Very counterintuitive.

Here's average pts/'club member' at each of the resorts (assuming they're sold out, unless otherwise noted):
  • Old Key West: 285pts per club member
  • BoardWalk: 261pts/member
  • Vero Beach: 294pts/member
  • Hilton Head: 275pts/member
  • Boulder Ridge: 260pts/member
  • Beach Club: 289pts/member
  • Saratoga Springs: 279pts/member
  • Animal Kingdom: 281pts/member
  • Bay Lake: 316pts/member
  • Aulani: not sold out and no good public sales numbers are available so I have no idea how much has been sold, but if 1 person bought all the remaining points it would be 456pts/member
  • Grand Floridian: 366pts/member
    • However, VGF2 sales were not sold out at this point, as the MSPOS says the figures are latest as of August 2023 and VGF2 sold out Oct 30, 2023. So the 366pts/member is very likely an overcount.
    • Using sales data as of end of July 2023 would put it at 323pts/member.
    • Using sales data as of end of August 2023 would put it at 334pts/member.
  • Polynesian: 222pts/member
  • Copper Creek: 271pts/member
  • Riviera: not sold out, so hard to gauge. But MSPOS says figures are latest as of August 2023 and as of end of July 2023, 3,745,065 points had been sold (according to DVC News: https://dvcnews.com/dvc-program-men...r-off-as-walt-disney-world-rises-in-july-2023). MSPOS lists 10,826 club members
    • This averages to 346pts/member, not entirely sure I believe it, especially in light of VDH's numbers below
  • Disneyland Hotel: not sold out, so hard to gauge. But MSPOS says figures are latest as of August 2023 and as of end of July 2023, 403,041 points had been sold (according to my own tracking: https://www.disboards.com/threads/vdh-unit-and-sales-tracker.3918952/). MSPOS lists 411 club members.
    • This averages to 914pts/member, which I absolutely do not believe.
    • VDH sales likely hit 411 club members in May of 2023, with 1,147 contracts recorded as of May 31, 2023.
    • Even just contracts recorded in May at 411 members would be 358pts/member, which I also think is too high
  • Fort Wilderness: lol
