I probably made someone's day. I just canceled a studio night on 12/14. I kept going in and out to make sure it was the right room reservation that I was cancelling. I was so paranoid that I was going to cancel the room we actually needed.

A week or so ago, I cancelled 6 nights in a studio in January (we're going to WDW instead.) I was also very nervous about accidentally cancelling our trip next month instead. Even now, I feel like I need to keep double checking. Ha!

This brings up an interesting thought. Maybe if we end up cancelling in the future, I’ll post here first and then give people a heads up that the room will open up.
That would be amazing. There is a group on FB for when people cancel DVC reservations. I was wondering if there was a thread like that here.

The problem with this is that there is no rhyme or reason when cancelled reservations go to the waitlist or back into inventory, unless someone has figured it out. Unlike when you cancel a ADR, someone can be there to pick it up.

I don't do FB and never will so if I post it will be here. As for the timing of when it reappears, don't know but it can't hurt to let my friends here know that I'm freeing up a res.

Do we know where in VGC this is? Apparently it was recently added.

If it's where I think it is that's a weird spot to cover up a window. My first feeling was that it was on the walking path to DTD near the conference center. I then watched a few videos and saw this -

Weird they would block that window if true. Perhaps they wanted to give more privacy for wedding parties who are paying $$$ for that spot out there.

You have to be correct… it matches up perfectly.

That’s kind of a weird place to put the DVC logo…. but IMO the window looks great so I will roll with it.

I thought it might be somewhere near the actual DVC wing.

That area was blocked off yesterday morning (high temporary wall), and I joked it must be another DVC kiosk.
I was partially correct :goodvibes

Will they put a kiosk there? If not, I think it's kind of odd to stick the logo up there. The window is pretty though!

They probably should… they really don’t need the current area that they have at the grand California… they don’t even sell points for that resort.

They oughta just put a small kiosk in front of that window and then convert the current DVC location into a arcade like the Florida resorts have.

Where is the current DVC kiosk at the Grand Californian? I don't think I noticed it when we were there.

Yes! Revenue generating for the dvc to lower dues! 🥰

A few food convenience vending machines would so nicely. ...sprinkles anyone?

I wonder how the pitch goes to Grand Californian guests…. “You can become a DVC member at any DVC resort other then this one. You can test your luck with the 7 month window at VGC, and maybe, if your 100% flexible, super lucky and only want to stay here 1-2 random nights on a rare occasion!!!”

This is a horrible idea! I don't want to have to walk into DTD to get my $.25 drawstring backpack. Right now the walk of disappointment back to the room is short and forgettable. It would be more like a long stroll of disappointment if it were in DTD.
