The Vanilla Dole Whip is gone ?

To expand, as I understand the things, it's all the same exact product, whether it's sold at the Poly or over in AK (with rum mind you) but only at MK does Dole sponsor (aka, give Disney money) it so it's only there that you find the name Dole Whip. Elsewhere it's simply called pineapple soft serve but it's still the same exact thing.

It is licensed Dole Whip product at the Poly too, just not anywhere else other than MK.

I don't like pineapple and pineapple, too sour and rough on my throat. Disney Food Blog posted a hack the other day, you can make your own with a tall cup, an order of pineapple juice and a serving of vanilla soft serve from another stand. Not sure I am THAT desperate but, if it is between postponing a trip and that hack, the choice seems obvious. ;)

Other websites are reporting that as of September 8th the Vanilla Dole Whip is no longer being sold at Disney World. Was this a one day fluke where the vanilla soft serve machine broke down or is it a permanent removal from the Magic Kingdom menu?

I don't know about what might have happened 9/8, but we were plenty surprised on our last trip (April), when we discovered that Sunshine Tree Terrace (orange) and Aloha Isle (pineapple) had inexplicably switched locations, with Aloha Isle moving from Swiss Family Treehouse over to the Tiki Room. I never heard a good reason why they switched? We were then very disappointed that you couldn't get the vanilla soft serve/pineapple swirl at Aloha Isle. However, like previous posters have said, we were able to get our pineapple/vanilla swirls at the Polynesian Resort.

At Tamu Tamu? Maybe the machine was wonky that day and it wasn't freezing properly? But what I've gotten at Tamu Tamu at AK is creamy just like soft serve ice cream. That's how it's supposed to be at least.

Yes, at Tamu Tamu in July. When was your last experience at Tamu Tamu? I tried to check again in August, but we were in and out of the park before Tamu Tamu opened.

We had the dole whip with rum from Tamu Tamu last November, and had the same experience as AngiTN. It was creamy and no different than the one we've always gotten from Aloha Isle in MK. We also got the one with rum. Maybe they serve something different for people who order it without rum?

There is no such thing as Vanilla Dole Whip. Dole only make soft serve in fruit flavours http://dolesoftserve.com/prod-info.cfm

I think OP was referring to the Dole Whip Float which is vanilla soft serve with pineapple juice.

I thought a "Dole Whip Float" was pineapple soft serve with pineapple juice. I guess it could be any flavor soft serve:

It's my understand it's crowds. The location they are in now can handle more people better than the location nearer to Swiss Family Treehouse.
With the new restaurant opening right there next to the new Sunshine Tree Terrace location it's good for it to be less congested there.

But none of it made sense to me as the new location for Aloha Isle is seemingly larger so I can't quite understand why they couldn't offer as many flavors as the smaller location could. Why not move the machines if it's a matter of differences in machines?

The sign above just makes me miss the orange even more. Orange-Pineapple, need I say more :(

That would make sense, on previous trips we noticed a few times where there were no CMs controlling the Aloha Isle line, it would get out of control and block the path in front of the Swiss Family Treehouse. Also agree that doesn't explain items getting removed from the menu.

Yes, this. Vanilla was taken off the menu for available soft serve options from within MK, the internet is apparently in outrage and it is the end of Dole Whip mania from within the park.

So a Dole Whip is the frozen ice cream thing, which is different than a Dole Whip float which is that mixed with juice?

The traditional Dole Whip float adds pineapple juice on top of the pineapple Dole Whip.
