Taking a break from running costumes… because of an Halloween costume. DD’s friends decided on Star Wars theme and assigned her Padme. It’s going well!

All in CDN $, DD found the fabric in the clearance section and bought 1.5m for 6$. The brown vinyl ribbon was 5x0.75$ but we are not able to double it. It sticks to the fabric and the result is surprisingly ok. The vinyl print for the arm and the 3D printed buckles were all on her library monthly allowance so, free. She will wear stockings we already own or buy a pair of white leggings if she finds them.

I got really excited about the Cinderella flow tank from crowned and managed to get one when they dropped just over a week ago, figured there was a decent chance that it could work with the Dottie castle celebration skirt. And having them together in person….doesn’t work. I really need to figure out a top to go with this skirt. And then make all of the decisions about which costume for which day for the half and full, and I think I’m taking an “omg, it’s so hot out” backup costume that doesn’t incorporate tulle as well.

Posting here for accountability because I have done 0 planning for any of my upcoming races, and my goal was to have a costume/outfit planned for each one in advance!

@Herding_Cats that Dottie skirt is BEAUTIFUL! I did a scroll through their instagram page and found people wore black, white, or light pink with that skirt.

I see your concern with the different blues, but you could salvage it with some additional accessories in both the light and dark blue. Arm sleeves, a headband, socks, petticoat, etc. Mix those two blues in and it'll look more purposeful.

I agree that they’re not a great combination. But the skirt is beautiful. It wouldn’t be very character-specific, but I think a royal blue tank to match the ribbon would look amazing.

5k I had the costume idea since theme was announced…doing a final check on my skirt tonight, I get my shirt back with no issues tomorrow to add final flourishes

10k had an idea it would of been $$$$$ to order fabric from a third party since Joanne’s didn’t carry the particular fabric I wanted in that color…. Pivoted to another idea still have to hand paint a shirt and hope it works the way I want…worse case scenario I rewear my Jane Porter outfit from Everest

One costume down. I had purchased the Belle flow top from crowned, and Belle is the theme for the Princess 10K.
I just have to decide between the Dottie skirt or the sparkle athletic skirt. The Dottie is clearly the nicer option, but I'm not sure if it'll work with the flow top. Either way, I have all of the items so I feel accomplished lol.

I've really struggled with the themes of Wine and Dine. I feel like I have a million ideas for Springtime Surprise already. I forgot to take pics of my outfits without me in them. DH and I "test" wore our Captain America outfits to our church Halloween party last night. Those will be our half marathon outfits. I pulled Figment together for the 10K. DH will be wearing an "Imagination Institute" shirt that I had him made on Etsy. Neither one really match the themes of Wine and Dine. I went with Captain America to incorporate the whole patriotic theme they mentioned earlier. Then I felt like they haven't mentioned it lately. Oh well, the stuff is packed and we head towards Orlando tomorrow.

Is that a bad thing? J/k but more and more I steer away from the race's theme. Otherwise I end up wearing the same costume as hundreds of other runners.

I'm doing Mulan for the 10k and Mirabel for the HM (although there might be a few of those too), with an Ms. Incredible costume as a backup in case of weather.

-2018 10k theme was Sebastian/chef Louie was Belle sister was Ursula brother in law was Hulk
-2019 5k theme was Jungle Book was Roger Rabbit
10k theme frozen was Wreck it Ralph 2 Elsa sister was Wreck it Ralph 2 Anna
-2020 virtual 5k theme was Yzma re-wore Belle costume
-virtual 10k theme was Ursula was queen of hearts sister was megera
-2021 10k theme was nightmare before Christmas sister and I were rescue ranger Chip & Dale
This year 5k is coco I’m mama Imelda sister is hector brother in law is Migel
10k is raya and the last dragon initially I really wanted to be Bonnie Appetite (epcot 40 also plays to the food and wine aspect) but ultimately I’m planning on Moana sister planning on snow white

I know what you mean. My daughter and I dressed up as bellhops for the Tower of Terror Ten Miler. Us and quite literally THOUSANDS of other bellhops running the ten mile route. It was a sight to behold that many bellhops on the road together.

This weekend I watched a Disney Singalong video on YouTube with Roger Rabbit. Your post reminded me of a Dopey costume plan I thought about when the themes were announced. I might’ve posted about it somewhere on the boards but I completely forgot until now. I was planning to research when each race distance started for Marathon Weekend, pick a movie that came out that year, and then dress as a character from that movie. I have to go back and see if I found any ideas. Thanks for the inspiration!

I know what you mean. My daughter and I dressed up as bellhops for the Tower of Terror Ten Miler. Us and quite literally THOUSANDS of other bellhops running the ten mile route. It was a sight to behold that many bellhops on the road together.

I’m not a TOT fan (love the theming but can’t handle the ride) so I didn’t plan to dress up in that theme, but I never felt so out of place for a race as I did that day lol. I loved everyone’s commitment!

My daughter and I will be Ms Marvel and Shang-Chi for the 2023 Princess 5k. We finally finished the costumes and wore them for halloween.

That's my thinking for Princess. BatB is my favorite animated movie, but I will be dressing as a different princess to not blend in.
