The Unofficial Golf at Disney FAQ Thread

A couple months ago I decided at the last minute to play at Magnolia and made a tee time for just myself. I was only paired up with one other person, so its possible you may end up playing by yourself. Hit em straight Bob:thumbsup2

If your by your self or just a two some they try to get out as many golfers at as possiple, but If there Is not many around then they will ask you If you want to wait or go out ahead by your selfs. I just wish they would drop the picesd here, its a pricey round.:goodvibes

Just FYI about the lower rates - I was able to make a June 19th 8:04am for 2 at Magnolia for $89/pp. I was very pleased!

So I'm beginning to wonder if the Price Slice is going to be offered this year. Tee times can be booked for resort guests all the way into August, and no sign of the price slice rates....:confused3

I would be very surprised if the "price slice" isn't offered this summer. You would think in these tough economic times that Disney would want to get as many people on the courses as possible. I booked my tee-times for later this week at the 90 day mark and as of 2 weeks ago I could still get tee-times within 45 minutes of the ones I booked 3 months ago. So that tells me the courses aren't CRAZY busy like they use to be in the past. Has anyone called Disney directly to ask them about the price slice?

I have not called, but I did send them an email. Their reply didnt answer my question at all, and basically just referred me to wdwgolf.com to book my tee times.

So we are going back down In Oct,does any one have a oppion on golf In Oct? weather prices, and croeds?? thanks:goodvibes

October is a GREAT time to golf in WDW. The weather is usually perfect and you can usually get a tee-time without a problem that time of year. If you are staying at a Disney hotel the price for 18 holes with a cart is around $100. There are numerous discounts available though if you are a AP or DVC member or even if you wait to play at "Twilight" rates which is usually after 2pm or 3pm.

We will never again buy the regular park APs. My boys are too into golfing. They go at least 4 times each visit and we pack the clubs along. They love that one of the courses is included in the everything APs.

You must be talking about Oak Trail!! That is a great little 9 hole walking course that Disney owns. It was a great addition to the "plus" options for us golfers when Pleasure Island decided to close a handful of months back. We played it last November and it was in very good shape. I actually have an 8am tee time there on Thursday (April 30th) followed by a 10:30am tee-time @ the Palm!!!

The price slice is a special that Disney usually has in the summer to attract more people to play. From what I recall, Disney charged normal rates until like 10am (so somewhere around $80-$120) and then there was a "price slice" if you played after 10am. The rate usually dropped down to either $39 or $59, I don't recall. Hopefully someone remembers from last year all the specifics.......but more or less Disney just cut the price to play golf in half after a certain time of day!!

2 Days until Golf @ Oak Trail and The Palm!!! :cool1:

Thanks for the info...DH would love to play during our July trip and he'd love an incentive like that. I guess the best way to see if there is a price slice is to call, correct?

Yes....your best bet is to call Disney directly, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't know either. I would be really shocked if they DIDN'T do it again this year as I believe they have done it the past handful of years for sure. If you do call be sure to let us know what they say!!!

So I've been waiting to book some tee times for next month to see if the Price Slice came out. Still nothing on the site all the way into August. Now today I noticed when you go to put in your date when booking tee times online, it used to say "Range balls are not provided when booking the Price Slice rate" and thats stayed up all year even if it wasnt summer. Well that line has been removed, makes me think even more that Price Slice is likely no more...

I'm so glad I found this thread. Hopefully, someone can answer my slightly odd question.

Boyfriend is a golf fanatic. The only way I could convince him to take an 8 day trip in September was if he could play golf a couple of times, so of course, I agreed.

His only concern is about clubs. He works at Golfsmith and because he has longer arms and is an aspiring pro, he has done some serious modifications to his shaft length and the weight of his clubs. (I can comfortably use his clubs and there is over a foot of height difference if that tells you anything! :rotfl:) So needless to say, he is hesitant to check them with luggage as we fly down.

Because of his fanaticism, he would like to know exactly what type of clubs are available for rent, so he can see if they are remotely short enough for him to use without interfering with his swing. I tried calling the master starter, but I'm quite sure the CM I spoke with thought I was crazy. (Clearly not a golfer herself, she had me equating the info I was looking for to makes and models of cars. She thought the names Cobra and Titelist were the end of the line) After that, I tried emailing the website but the only response I received was the standard "Thank you for contacting Disney." And needless to say, I couldn't find a direct number for any of the courses either.

So my question for you: Do you know what the club options available for rent are? And out of curiosity, what has your experience been with flying clubs? Any with Magical Express?

Thanks for any help/advice you can offer!!!

They have Titleist and Cobra irons for rent. Not sure what specific sets there they are though. As to shaft length, my guess is its more or less standard length, which from what it sounds may be longer than he prefers.

I can relate to not trusting the airline with my clubs. I play with a set of Hogan blade irons from the 70's and I dont even like letting the cart guy handling them. Does he have a "back up set," perhaps an old set that he can use and not be too worried about them on the plane?

I wish he had a back up set... Unfortunately, they were all modified for me.

I ship my clubs down there and I have a one of kind set also(Its all Nike high birds, and woods) and I sweat the whole trip:scared1:but I can not see go any were with out them.I get Incurance just for my clubs. Its so nice to play on there courses and Its part of our trip,my DS sleeps In and I play golf.

On another note and sorry If I did not catch It earlyer but what price slice do you meen?:confused3 Is It the twilight rate?? thanks
