So I was noticing that folks have started threads from many states, but I failed to find a Florida DVC thread, so I thought it was high time we started one:thumbsup2 We live in Ocala, and love our DVC. Being so close, we are able to visit WDW almost monthly which is great, because I cant go much longer than that:rotfl2:

Anyway, I thought it would be nice for us Floridians to have a place to talk about DVC, Disney, or just how great it is to live in the Sunshine State:goodvibes

Clearwater/Largo area here. DW and I try to get to WDW at least monthly. Both of our children live in the Orlando vicinity so we're in the area often. Yesterday we hit DTD on the way home. We needed a couple of Ghirardelli sundaes to help us with the drive.

I can totally relate to the pre-drive home pick me up. My fix comes in the way of chocolate mousse cake at Boardwalk bakery:thumbsup2

Jacksonville and at DWD monthly,,,,, just love the convenience.... and have always found availability!!!!!! Dang,, better knock on some wood now.

Hopefully your good luck will come my way. We decided tonight to try to go next week for a couple nights. This will be the least notice we have given to try to get a reservation, so hopefully we will get lucky!:goodvibes

Palm Bay here! We just got back from ESPN the Weekend! Our first stay at BWV. What a great location that was! Now I have to go update the trip countdown on the member page for our FIRST Disney Cruise in April! :cool1:

We're in Longwood which is 45 minutes north of the World. Don't go monthly, but it's nice being able to go on a whim. We just took Leap Day off and went to the Magic Kingdom.

I used to go to the drive-inn in Longwood a whole bunch of years ago. Much has changed since then.

I live in Clermont in S. Lake county. I just bought this past weekend at AKV. :cool1:

Way down at the bottom of the state here, but still only four hours away from the World! Gotta love sitting around on a Friday afternoon wondering what to do for the weekend and being able to just pack your pjs and a toothbrush and "away we go!" We've been lucky regarding taking advantage of someone's last minute cancellation. We feel the need to help DVC fill those rooms that become open. We don't want them to go empty and have DVC lose any money. HA!! :rotfl:

I'm glad you started this thread! Sunshine most of the year ROCKS!! :cool2:

 An hour-and-a-half west in the Clearwater area, here!

Though that tune may change come June/July/August/September... :rotfl:

Yea usually I have had pretty good luck getting a last minute reservation, but today luck wasnt on my side. My fiance and I decided to try to go next Tues and Weds, but when I talked to MS today there was ZERO availability at any of the resorts for the 2 nights. I guess its my own fault for trying to book last minute during spring break times.

Oh well, its still great only living an hour away:thumbsup2

We're in Miami -- actually about 25 miles SW of downtown Miami. But we live just off the Florida Turnpike, so it's just an easy 4 hours to WDW, which makes Sunday-Friday trips very easy to do.

Count me in, Celebration here. Even though i can here the fireworks at night, we still stay on property pretty often.

We live just North of Tampa and visit about 10-15 times per year on day trips. We also stay at DVC about 2-5 times per year, depending on work/kids activities/church, etc.

Our DVC stays are typically Sunday through Tuesday or Wednesday with 1 stay per year for a solid week.

When I was a kid, my aunt and uncle worked at the Magic Kingdom so Disney has always been a part of my life.

I couldn't imagine moving more than a few hours from Orlando and feel blessed to call Florida home!

Being a military family means I get to be a part of several of these threads!
DH & I are FL residents although we do not live in the state. I grew up just north of Tampa. :)

I have to admit it's a joy not to have to fly to Orlando. Just pack the car up, with how much stuff? Depends on if it's a week-end or a week. With 210 points it's a huge benefit living in Florida. We always arrive on a Sunday and leave on a Friday, unless it's a special occasion. We go on long week-ends if schools out. We manage to go 2 or 3 times a year to get the Disney Fix. My kids and I can't live without it. Best decision I ever made! :yay:

Just lurking and seeing what you people in Florida talk about... We really want to move to Florida......

It takes my car about 56 minutes from door-to-OKWdoor. (My co-workers kid me that I can set it to auto-pilot and it can find its own way.) :)

...Of course - with I-4 - that is never a "sure thing."

We totally waste our points on weekends... but I figure my membership has already paid for itself in over 10 years, so - if that's how I choose to use it, "so be it, right?"

We've never stayed anywhere for more than 5 nights..... I'd love to do that, some day. Our typical stay is 1-3 nights.

And how about Owner's Locker? I just think that's the coolest concept.... and I'm so jealous that I can't take advantage of it... but how can we justify it?!? :)
