The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

Guess I am not the only one who was busy last night. Hope everyone has a great Friday!!

Good Morning! Happy Friday!

I had to take my kitty in to get spayed this morning. She kept looking at me and meowing like don't leave me here. Poor thing.

We have a mobile clinic that comes to my town every other Friday becaue where we live is considered rural. Normally they charge $90 to fix, give a rabies shot and microchip but I called around to SPAN, Actor & Others for Animals and one other place and got pledges that brought it down to $25. :thumbsup2

Morning and happy Friday everyone!

Bernice I don't blame you for doing away with tv. Sometimes I wish we could get away with that. We had comcast for years and after it going up and up every year I said enough. I had them for internet as well and we had just basic cable and internet and it was 130 something a month. I was like this is NUTS. So I switched to AT&T DSL in the house and pay just 25 a month for that and we got a really good deal through sam's club on directv dish and we are only paying 50/month for 3 boxes and we have HD and more channels plus the dvr. So It is a much better deal!! I DO love having the dvr! Esp now that I have so many shows at the same time I like to watch. Like you I love some good reality tv. That is pretty much all we watch. We like dwts, survivor, amazing race and some of the others. The only other non reality shows I watch is Lost, heros and Fringe. Oh and I do watch CSI but I don't like it as much now that Grissom has left and don't know how much longer I will watch. I mostly tivo it because it is on at the same time as one of my other shows.

I do LOVE having access to things like the learning channel, history channel, biography etc and we watch a lot of shows on those channels on the weekends.

Hope you guys enjoyed your pedis! I have never had one! One of these days!! ;)

Sara that is a GREAT deal on getting your kitty spayed! I know you feel so bad for them but in reality you are doing a good thing! :)

I am off to work today! We were supposed to go downtown but it is supposed to rain again so I don't know if that is going to happen.

Hope everyone has a good day!

I typed up something earlier today, never got around to hitting the "submit reply" button as I was lured in by movies on Netflix. Julie and Julia (loved it, makes me wanna pull out some cookbooks to dream and drool over) and last two episodes of season 5 of Weeds (dh and I loved the ending of the season.. freaking hilarious!)

On and off again rainy day, started off with a big BANG and rumble of thunder.. only to do a light spritz. Awwww, I wanted a storm!

We need a good steady rain to wash the winter sand off the streets and give the trees a good drink.

Our little yard in front of the building ahhchooo didn't take long to grow ahhchoo a healthy batch of new ahhchoo grass, aaaaaaahhhhchoooooooo and dandelions.. sniffle sniff ahhhhhhcccccccccccchoooooooo. UGH!

Spring is here, my once a year week of misery has started.. sniffle sniff, blow, aahchoo! Time to invest in allergy meds for Justin, his is much worse. He tends to have problems for a few months and gets the ugly allergic shiners making it look as if he got in a fight. Don't want CPS to call, no really it's allergies! :p

I keep looking down at my beautiful toes. Shimmery blue green to match the dress I am wearing to a friend's wedding in a few weeks. I have an excuse to buy peep toe shoes. :thumbsup2
Eloy's toes have clear coat, he's a but weirded out with shiny toes. I think they look just fine.

Good job on the low cost spay. For Poly we found a local program that gives out a limited amount of certificates each month for free spay, we had to pay for shots and a small amount for setting up the microchip account.

The first night home I felt bad for her, she cried cried all the way home in the car, tried to crawl under the couch to hide.. but couldn't get low enough with her sore belly. She also was still a little woozy, stepping all funny on the floor and bobbling about. But the next day she was just fine, no more misery for all of us when she was in heat driving us crazy with her yowls. Hooray!

The microchip is a nice bit of technology. Gives me a little comfort to know that if she did run out, the possibility that she would be returned home is higher. (We live next door to a vet clinic and groomer - I'm sure if she was found in the parking lot someone would turn her over.) She also has tags with our number and the words "indoor cat" , no question that she is "lost".

Smart! Never would have thought to do that.

:scared1:A shark???? OMG.

Spent the day in the Everglades...on Alligator Alley...discovered there is a reason they call it Alligator Alley...they are everywhere! Seen literally hundreds of them. Even one at the rest area!:rotfl2:

I also learned that approximately 17 people per year die from coconuts falling out of palm trees onto their heads. Which is more then the number of people killed from both sharks & alligators in the last 10 years!:rotfl2:

Went on a Swamp Buggy tour and an airboat ride. Loved the airboat ride, the buggy ride was so/so.

Tomorrow we check out of our hotel, head to the world's largest flea market in Ft. Lauderdale and then to our hotel in Miami...then sadly fly home Sunday morning. I'm really enjoying the nice weather, but missing DH a lot. It will be good to get home though. Oh and I miss chatting with you guys.

You MUST get a pedicure...they are awesome. But I do recommend that you don't go to one of those places in the mall. They use the whirlpool tubs that never completely empty and can harbor bacteria. My sister got a nasty toe fungus from those places. Go to a nice spa/salon where they use a tub of water that they completely empty and can sanitize. But do try one, they are awesome and such a nice treat for your feet. I only get about 2 a year, but my feet are so much nicer and feel so good afterwards.:thumbsup2

Hello,

I am currently in SD for the weekend. I went to DL first and had fun shopping. I ate lunch at French Market and didn't like it. I did get a nice dole whip float to make up for it :rotfl:

I bought my older sis that variety of teas that has the Alice characters on it. I found 2 cute tote bags and will post pics later. Hope I have a good time because weekends are the hardest for me.

Hope you are all well and have a good Easter

Thank you Alison  I am trying to not think of him. It's hard but I keep telling myself he's a jerk

Morning and happy Saturday everyone!!

Alison sounds like your Florida trip is lots of fun!! I have been to Florida now 3 times but since we live so far away we have yet to do any of those things. We love DW so much that we end up spending the majority of our time at the parks. We have done IOA and last time we did golf for a day which is saying a lot since we are usually at the parks pretty much every minute we are there LOL. But I would LOVE to try some of the things you mentioned. They sound like so much fun!! :) Plus I would love to go back to Kennedy. I really enjoyed that when I went!! And thanks for the advice on the pedi! I was set up to do one once and then something came up. I used to get my nails done back in the 80's every 2 weeks when it was more of the "thing" to do and did it for like 4 years but A now I'm a mom and have kids to spend my money on LOL and B I just don't have the time and honestly can't stand my nails being long anymore. I keep them super short. But I HAVE always thought it would feel super nice to get a pedi. And in the summer I wear my croc athens pretty much every day and I do my own toe nails but it would be nice to have them "done". ;)

Rochelle I am glad you had a nice day! Sounds like it was fun! Just keep it what you are doing and you will be great!! :)

Yesterday was a crumo day. I woke up and must have eaten something that didn't agree with me and was feeling really lousy. It took me awhile before I could make it in to work but I HAD to go as we had a few commission checks that needed to be cut and bills that HAD to be paid so I had to go in. I didn't stay long though. Just got my work done and left which is the nice thing about working for my family. My mom was bummed that we couldn't do anything but I was feeling too lousy and it was a really ugly day anyway. We were "supposed" to go out downtown outside but it was def NOT the day for that. So we just came home and I let the girls watch some videos and I napped.

Then last night we watched wife swap which I have never watched and it was pretty funny and Jamie Oliver again. I really like his show and I hope he makes a difference in that town!

Anywho today we have to get our eggs and we will be dying eggs and then if I feel up to it we are going to see Clash of the Titans. We watched the old 80's version last weekend so I could let the girls compare it. Otherwise mostly just going to kick back and relax as swim starts on monday. We will have practice M-th nights from here on out and then M-F once school gets out. We have our first meet May 15th and then one pretty much every sat after that. So it is going to get BUSY!

We also have to register for soccer already in 2 weeks and shane has a girl scout event with the girls next sat and we have a meeting next Fri night. So things are starting to pick up again. I will be glad when school is out at least. Got a few months left.

I think tomorrow will be pretty low key for us. We used to have a few relatives ove to mom's but esp with it prob raining I don't think that is going to happen and I feel bad for the girls because they will prob have to do their hunt in the house :(

Anyway I hope everyone enjoys their saturday and weekend!

Good morning!:goodvibes

Today is Becky's due date!:cloud9: We will see...........

I hope you all have a blessed and wonderful Easter!

Love,
Mel:hug:

How exciting! I bet you can't wait!! You must share pics when she has him/her!!

Drive by Hi! We are at our hotel by the airport now, just did a load of laundry and sat by the pool. Going to order pizza and just spend a nice quiet evening in our room...we have an 8:30 am flight and the front desk clerk recommended that we take the 5 am shuttle to the airport. Even though it's only about 10 minutes away, apparently it's totally crazy during spring break.

All in all had a fun vacation. Got lots of sun. I did have a major issue with DD and her attitude. She turned 18 yesterday and that didn't help her attitude any. She was very disrespectful to all of us and to be honest I thought about leaving her on the side of the road on Alligator Alley! Not quite sure how we are going to handle the problem when I get home, but you can bet that she will be in deep trouble for quite some time!

I'm really trying to focus on the good parts of our vacation, but it's hard to when you have someone that spent the entire time being rude and trying to make everyone else miserable. GRRRRR!!!!

Anyway, hope everyone has a Happy Easter.

Exactly! :thumbsup2

I like wife swap, it's one of the shows I kinda miss.
Netflix has the show "30 days" of the first two seasons.. not sure if there were more.. that was a good stand in for wife swap, a little more educational too. :lmao:

Your swim season sounds like my Justin's marching band season.
Kick off meeting is later this month, just a few practices per month until school lets out.. then it's long long days of practice, performances every weekend and band camp. Leading up to national competition in the fall.
Busy busy and very expensive as they do not get funding from the school - self supporting. Which is good in some ways, everyone can join, everyone will play, and no one can cut the program from the budget. But YIKES band fees, required "donations", and some heavy fundraiser events takes it's toll on our meager income.

We always had to do egg / candy hunts inside. Kinda hard to find eggs in the snow! :lmao: We typically have 50 degree temps for the high, wind and perhaps a bit of lingering snow this time of year (or at least very wet spongy muddy grass - yuck!). I think our summer will be very hot and dry, considering we already have 70 degree days.. and dandelions.. ahhchoo!

Good morning!:goodvibes

Today is Becky's due date!:cloud9: We will see...........

:yay: Keep us posted!

]. I did have a major issue with DD and her attitude. She turned 18 yesterday and that didn't help her attitude any. She was very disrespectful to all of us

Oh No! That sucks!
I hope you find a way to work thru this difficult time to keep your sanity.... at least until fall, right? ;)

Happy Easter everyone!!!

Mel do you have a new grandbaby yet???

Alison I am so sorry about the troubles you are having I SO can relate but don't want to bore you guys. But let's just say I feel your pain. My stepdaughter turned 18 in Feb but had already started giving us trouble from 15. Her LATEST thing is she moved back with her mom after being basically kicked out of everywhere else and just last night her mom (who hasn't talked to us in 2 years LONG story she is NOT a very nice person) she FINALLY is getting it that her daughter is NOT the victim and really IS being a pain in the butt. She moved out and STOLE all of her stuff. Her tv, dvd, I-phone you name it. Anything she could hawk! This girl put us through absolute hell the last two years running away from home, going to juvenille hall and on an on. It breaks your heart. We kept wondering what we did wrong but sometimes you just have to sit back and say hey I DIDN'T do anything wrong. Some kids just turn out that way. NOT saying that your daughter is that bad but I just know what you mean. The attitude was the FIRST thing we had to deal with. ((hugs)) and I hope you have MUCH better luck than we did!!

Bernice yeah I had always seen wife swap but never thought I would like it but since we wanted to watch Jamie Oliver anyway and there was nothing else on we thought what the heck. It was actually pretty funny LOL.

And yes I know all to well about being time and expense of activities. We have swim team which is the MOST intense. It cost about 400 JUST to register the girls and then their team suits are about 100 a piece and then there is ALL the other junk. The goggles, caps, towels and they are constantly needing other stuff. Plus the driving to away meets and on and on. Ours is all paid for by the parents as well. But as I said the girls LOVE it so it is all worth it. Then RIGHT after swim ends we do soccer, then indoor soccer and then this year our youngest did basketball. They also do girl scouts throughout the school year and I am sure eventually there will be other sports that they want to try. They would LOVE to do karate, gymnastics, ice skating you name it LOL but there are only so many hours in the day and you just HAVE to limit it as you can't do everything!

That stinks that it is usually still cold and snowing during easter where you are. Prob doesn't seem much like easter eh? To us that usually signals the start of spring! Course not this year LOL.

We didn't end up going out yesterday after all. We did our store run and painted eggs but I still haven't been feeling too well so we just stayed in.

I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL easter!! Talk soon!! :)
