The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

MIL's birthday tomorrow and then it will be E's birthday the day after.
We bought a cake at Super Target today (along with corn and charcoal for the "feast") , asked them to write all of the names: E, me, BIL, MIL, SIL :goodvibes

Hope the park we picked isn't crazy busy, to reserve the pavilion would have been $50, uhh no thanks.. I would consider it if we were a bigger group. Luckily we live near several city and county parks, if one doesn't work we can do a quick 10-15 minute drive to another.

Had our second day at the water park for our passes.
Now I am resting as my body is complaining to me .. two days in a row? are you crazy?
Laid out on the couch and directed the boys to clean the kitchen and pack a box of things for the picnic. :thumbsup2

Hello Everyone! On Thursday night my aunt took me to DTD to have dinner for my b-day. My family is all out of town but they will celebrate my b-day and my older sister's b-day when they return next week.

I renewed my Premium AP and also got a birthday fun card ($69 merchandise gift card). The other options were a 1-day fast pass card that allows you to ride the fast pass rides one time each or a 1-day admission ticket to the park to be used before your next b-day. The CM said it can't be shared or given to someone else to use.

My aunt loves the salt water taffy they sell so I got her a bag from World of Disney. Last week I spotted someone holding a bird plush from the Pixar short: "For The Birds." I should have asked them where they got it from but my bf and I were rushing to make it to Transformers 2.

I asked 2 CM's if they knew where I could find it and they said they didn't know what I was talking about. Then Thursday night, while I was waiting to pay for my items in World of Disney, I look at their plush section and spot 2 big eyes. I ask my aunt to save my spot in line and quickly run over to see what it is. I was so happy to find it was the bird plushes! :yay::yay: There were only 3 left but I snatched up 2. :yay: Here's what they look like (they also squeak when you push their tummy):

I have pics I took of food from Hooke's Point. I will post them later (need to upload it to my PC). :)

Hope you all have a wonderful, fun and safe 4th of July!

Oh and yesterday my bf and I went to the Disney Soda Fountain in Hollywood. I got a pin trader's sundae and it came with a cute Stitch pin. :goodvibes I  Stitch and it's so cute! :) I'll post pics later. :wizard:

Happy 4th of July my American friends!! Play safe!

Pixter those plushes are sooo cute! What did you have for dinner?

:wizard: Hooke's Pointe Pics:

I ordered a Hooke's Pointe Salad (caesar salad) and the NY Strip Steak special with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus and button mushrooms. It was really good and so much better than the 5 pepper beef roast I get from Blue Bayou. My aunt ordered 2 appetizers as her meal but I didn't take pics because she was so hungry, she dove right into it once it arrived at our table.

Our waitor surprised me with a free b-day dessert. It was vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and kiwi syrup and came with a Mickey shortbread and the purple Mickey head is a hard candy (my aunt ate the candy and spit it out because she said it was too hard to chew). :rotfl:

The Disney Soda Fountain carries some merchandise. I got a cute Up T-Shirt and a Tote Bag (the bag was on sale for $5). I also bought a set of buttons and stuck them on the bag. Here's some pics:

Cute tote bag!
We got a kick out of Hollywood area too, the in-laws not so much :confused3
It was fun to read off all the stars and compare hand prints/ footprints in the forecourt. Very tourist trap feel .. but that is the charm of the place.

We're city people at the core, so maybe that is why we liked it more. People watching can be such a hoot!

Had our afternoon picnic at a park, done before the thunderstorm rolled in to unleash the torrent of rain. Brats, hot dogs, roasted corn, pasta salad, chips, lemonade, smores.. simple food. The corn was yummy. Roasting it in the husks was the way to go.. mmm.

In-laws (and Noah) went to the hotel to swim. The rest of us are napping, resting in the comfort of the AC at our apartment. Not hot but high humidity, saps all my energy away and my muscles/joints are letting me know the humidity is not appreciated. I am my own barometer lately.

We plan to have them all over later , eat leftovers from lunch and our cake.

Then off to hunt for a parking space downtown Mpls to wait for the fireworks to be shot off over the river.

I read that the St Paul ones are better, but they have an event going on (Taste of MN) and we really have no clue where to go.

It's funny, either you are a Minneapolis person or a St Paul person..
regardless that the two are a short drive apart. If you have ties to Minneapolis you tend to stick to that side of the metro and sneer at the idea of setting foot into St Paul. Opposite is true if you live in St Paul.

psssst, Minneapolis is better. :snooty:

Fun times last night :goodvibes , decided to watch the fireworks off of the Stone Arch Bridge this year. Lively scene with crowds of people filling up all the outdoor patios for the bars/restaurants along the river and St Anthony Falls. Bands playing, people walking their dogs and drinking beer.. good times.

Found a very good spot (right next to an ice cream cart vendor) , primo view of downtown, the falls, the river and right across from the island where the fireworks were launched. Forgot our camera .. of course..
After the show we followed the crowd off the bridge and followed the sound of a band playing outside of an art gallery. I had read about the event but wasn't sure if we would be able to get through the crowds in time to watch.
woohoo, we made it just as they started: 10 seconds movie festival :cool1:

Yep,a festival of 100 movies that are only 10 seconds long.
I wanted to stay and watch (we were hanging in the back in the parking lot of the venue area) .. one minute E's family was right next to us.. the next they were POOF gone! Sitting far back and not even watching.. URGH!
They were all in a hurry to get back to the cars..

:confused::confused::confused: ummm why?? :confused::confused::confused:

You see there are hundreds of others running to their cars, all trying to exit a parking ramp onto a one way street with a stoplight. :headache:

Not going very fast anytime soon... :rolleyes1

sigh.. I only got to watch the first round of movies (about 10 of them ) .. some were odd, some were very jerky .. some were freaking funny.
I hope we can go next year and watch more. :thumbsup2

okay, off to a movie for E's birthday now.. BYE!

Arrgghhh! Tried to post 3 times and it wasn't working!

Glad you had a happy birthday Pix! Nice pictures!

B. know what you mean about the Minn. vs. St. Paul people. We sorta have the same thing with the Oregonians! You know they can't drive worth beans. And don't get me started on the Californians, they move up here and do some of the stupidest things...like our neighbor that started a brush burning fire in August! No offense to my CA Hyena buddies, I love you guys!:lmao: Sometimes I think it just works best if we stay in our own domains.:rotfl2: Like you guy's don't need us down in CA wearing flannel shirts, sandals with socks and driving the speed limit on the freeways.:rotfl:

E is back to work, training day for summer school.
More like crash course on what he will teach for the next 16 days.
What he was taught at his 2 week training is not quite what is expected of him for summer school.

Very typical... here learn this.. okay now teach this and this and this.. uhhh we didn't cover that??

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Dizzy will also be glad to kick some rump!

I am on my way!!! Even if it is government money they still should have handled it better. First a warning would be good - and then if they could have split it out of the next few checks - rather then one huge lump sum. The payroll I did was for a individual owner - so I had to guard his money - but we would do it nicely in a way that both parties were not totally screwed.

Love the pics Pix - and happy late bday.

Sorry I have been MIA the last few days - last week was a crazy one. My uncle and his 3 boys were here on Wednesday (up here camping at our lake - yes, I call it my lake :snooty: ). Then on Thursday night my SIL, her husband and daughter (Will's parents and sister) came up and stayed through the 4th. We watched fireworks in the back of Will's truck (parked on our property - with a perfect view to the school)

Beyond all the family stuff work was absolutely hectic. I picked up a ton of hours at John's store to try to help him - 4th of July is one of his busiest weekends :faint:

Ok peoples - need some help here.....

Paradise Pier for $129 or the Grand for $209??? Probably three nights....

Hello everyone. Just popping on to share a picture of our new "baby" and DBF's birthday present...a Persian kitten. She's so cute! We just got her last night so she's not named yet. We are thinking Diamond (she was born on April 19th) or Angel. Any ideas?

Well that's a no brainer...BOTH!:lmao:

Personally I like Diamond...but I think shorter animal names are better. If you go with a longer name or something that doesn't roll off the tongue easily, then they just end up with a nickname. Of course you could be like us, we gave out kittens names (Max & Pepper). But then Max started hogging all the cat food so we started calling him Mr. Fattykins (he's about twice the size of his sister!:scared1:). Then we started calling Pepper Miss Kittykins (don't know why, it just sort of evolved).

So WTH am I trying to say? Well I guess pick a name, if it doesn't work or they end up with something different...so be it.

Of course make sure you know how to spell it...I was put on the spot once at the vet's when asked how to spell DH's dog's name. How the heck should I know, it's not like dog's have an official birth certificate or anything?! Like I know how to spell Bayder, Bader, Baader, Baydur, Badeer...and does it really matter?? I told them I had no idea, spell it however they wanted and the receptionist got a bit testy with me. That was of course after I told her I doubted the dog cared how it was spelled!:lmao:

I was sitting down eating dinner when my cell phone rang. Didn't answer because I was eating. Checked my phone and lo and behold it was Pixster that called. Yet she left no message....hmmmm....so I come check the Disboard. Nope, no Hyena Emergency! Phew!!!

So, could it be that she was trying to call someone else and since Alison starts with A, she accidentally called me? Just like what I do to Albort all the time??:lmao:

Inquiring minds want to know.:hippie:
