The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

Urrggghhh!!!! I miss real stores!!! Alecia's bday is in 6 days...not sure how much shipping will cost to get stuff here in time!!! I know - i procrastinated this one big time - but I have been working like crazy!!! :faint:

Funny i was just sitting here thinking that I need a few things from Target. But don't feel like driving 20-30 miles. It sure will be nice when they finally build that Walmart here.

Hope everyone is having a nice Memorial Day. Weeded my garden this morning and thinned out the radishes and turnips. Have a nice pile of tiny, baby turnip greens that I will mix with lettuce this evening for a salad. Then I fertilized the garden with Alaska fish fertilizer. Since I'm going organic, this is the only fertilizer I will use. But I do have to say it stinks! Phew! Had to take a shower afterwards since some of it splashed up on my legs.

I am not working so it is wonderful!!! Trying to do some online shopping :rolleyes1 and finishing up all the laundry (jackets/blankets) to store away for the summer. I must say I do love my new stackable HE washer/dryer :cool1:
Woo Hoo! 3 Hyenas at a time. We have enough for a mini-party!:banana::banana:
Woo hoo!!! :dance3::cheer2::yay:

J did his marching "thing" this morning. Cloudy, windy and cool at first, got to the cemetary for the ceremony and the clouds cleared.. started getting warm but not overly much. No fainting kids this time round  told J just wait when you 're in full uniform (wool) in July. :faint:

They haven't been fitted for uniforms yet, they wore jeans and white pull over (lined) nylon jackets today.

Can't wait to see them a few months from now, full uniform and well drilled on marching/ music.

They usually place in the top 5 each year at Bands of America competition, very cool as they let EVERYONE participate. Unlike most other schools.. no try outs, no understudy waiting on the sidelines hoping for a chance to play.

Yep definitely not driving the 180 miles to Target!!! I have a Kmart 5 miles away - but is kind of like a mini-K and does not sell a bunch of stuff. I have a Wal-Mart 15 miles or so away - but I really dislike Wal Mart :snooty:

Cool that you got 3 days in a row off. I was going to go into work yesterday for a while, but decided since DH invited friends over for bbq that I should just do my grocery shopping and get ready for that. Then today I needed to get some gardening done.

I still have some housework to do, but not much. We are having beautiful weather here...mid 70's.:thumbsup2 There is not a drop of rain in the 7 day forecast...nothing but 70's. PERFECT!:yay:

I love my HE washer. It's about 5 years old now and it cleans so much better than the old style. Not to mention that uses way less soap.

Awesome that they don't exclude kids. Some of the kids that normally get excluded are exactly the ones that need to participate the most.

Walmart isn't my favorite store. But at this point it's better than nothing! For years they have talked about getting a Fred Meyer store here, but alas, Walmart bought land. They are supposed to start on it this winter. It got delayed because they had on-off ramp issues and arguing with the state over who was going to pay for improvements.

Our on-off ramp from I-5 is in a rural area and has been subject to flooding for years. It's not the main ramp for town, but was kind of a secondary one for the farming land. The state was trying to make them pay for the entire upgrade and to take care of the flooding problem before they built their store nearby. I can understand they need to deal with more traffic. But honestly, I think it wasn't fair of the state to make them pay millions to deal with the flooding problem. It went to court and a judge ruled with Walmart. Now the state has to work with them to help pay for it.

I am super excited for the days off - especially after the 6day/50hr work week last week :faint: Granted I write my own schedule - but this was total luck (and coordinating with John with the kids out of school)

We have had super beautiful weather here too the last few days!!! Low 70's with a monsoon like rain (but technically too early) in the afternoon. Nothing major - just a beautiful cool thunderstorm :goodvibes

I also forgot to mention how excited I am with our schools and Alec!!! He is talking so much better - everyday. People that haven't seen him in a few weeks are absolutely amazed!!! He passed kindergarten with flying colors (screw you mean higley preschool teachers) and the even better thing is his speech teacher absolutely adores him. She is creating an elaborate homework packet that she is going to drop off at our house - and is already trying to secure stimulus funds to help him even more next year!!!

Our May started out extremely cold and way more than normal rain. Luckily it seems to be ending much warmer and nicer than usual.

We need rain, there have been some wicked dust storms in southern MN due to high winds. Could be a hot dry year, very bad for farmers.

Too wet last spring, too dry this spring.

That's awesome that he's doing so well. I think it really makes a difference if you can find good teachers when they are so young. :thumbsup2

I take it you are going to keep him working over the summer? Hence, the homework??

Add the two together and it's normal! I often wonder, do we ever have normal weather? Seems like it's either to dry/wet, hot/cold. Is it ever just normal?:rotfl:

We will work on speech everyday - the good news is he is pretty easy going and ok with it - as long as we bribe him with something fun afterwards. The speech teacher has done a lot of research on apraxia (even having the district sponsor a video session with the apraxia guru) and repetition (as I learned initially) is the key. Basically - the way that normal speech develops takes him A LOT of work. I am so proud of the kid for how far he has come. Here is an example...the word "UP"

First stage of speech "uh"
Second stage "up-pa"
Final stage "up"

It is like this with every word - and she is going to isolate the sounds that will help him the most with every day speech. If he practices these every day the more clearer his speech will be.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'm craving a diet coke.

I wonder if I can con.. I mean ask:rolleyes1 one of my boys to go to the store across the street.

Probably never normal - but I tend to dislike normal so I guess that is ok for me!!!

Ooohh - the rain started again!!! This is definitely not normal  monsoon like rain in May - granted last year it snowed on graduation :rotfl2:

Ok - getting a tad chilly in my computer room - time to close the window!!! :woohoo:

It's awesome that he's learning. See sometimes there are reasons for everything in life and you just don't know them right way. this was obviously something very good that came out of your move. :thumbsup2
