The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

Regular band runs all year, marching band is summer and fall. They do have winter drumline, if you're child is part of the battery for marching band oh glee, oh joy.. they can continue drumming until spring :rotfl:

:thumbsup2

UGH! We had issues at school until they switched over to an electronic system. They used tickets in elementary school. The teacher was in charge of each child's packet and would send a note if the packet was running low. For reduced and free lunches the cafe staff wouldn't fill the packet until the beginning of the next month. At the end of the month the boys would bring home notes, worried that they wouldn't get lunch. If there was a sub it was a big mess!

With a PIN code system, only the staff person at the register is aware who is getting lunch for free or paying. (When they key the PIN it comes up as "0.00" for the charge.)The lead staff is in charge of checking funds and sending out notices to parents, no weird scolding and scaring moments as the kids go thru the line. Though N did notice one lady was less polite to him and others at the checkout last year (reduced lunch) .

The boys bag lunch this year, I wish programs would consider net pay and not base it just on gross. It's not like E has a choice to pay union dues and pension deduction (not 401K, this is an automatic deduction to go towards retirement).

I just saw this.. Im so out of it today!:lmao:

Ours is on a card system.. The kids have debit card type thingys that they scan through. I just love that Alex is so young. He is SOOOO excited to get free lunch. (even though we are on reduced... they have it that he is free..:confused3) Every day he is like... FREE LUNCH!! :yay: Like he is winning something. WOOHOOO!! We are so poor my parents cant afford to buy me lunch!:yay::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: He cracks me up!

WooHoo! Who doesn't like FREE?!:lmao: I just love the things little kids come up with.

Hm, is that where Shawna has been hiding?

Why yes it is! You really do need to get on there. Times they are a changin and by the time you figure Facebook out we will probably all be Twittering or something.:lmao:

I found Twitter to be boring, I think of it as a Facebook Lite for those who can't grasp how to use Facebook or just don't want to spend a lot of time posting, reading, playing games and using odd applications like finding out your stripper name or sending beating hearts and disney characters.

yes peoples.. I have no life and I am posting at 1 am... the evil marching band schedule and life in general has screwed up E's dialysis schedule, he's still running. Yawn...

Even the cat has decided it is time for bed, curled up next to my leg, she occasionally twitches allowing her claws to curl along the sensitive skin of my outer thigh... ow, stop that.. and I squish her over a little more. She likes to lay under my bed table that I use for the laptop. Too bad, you have to share, I was here first!

Hello everyone! Is it okay if I join in here? :flower3:

I'm an East Coast DISer, but am heading out to Anaheim - and Disneyland! - for the first time this winter, and I couldn't be more excited! My best friend is from Anaheim, and we met in January working for the Philadelphia Flyers. Ever since then we've been absolutely inseparable, and she invited me to visit her at home this winter break. She goes to Penn State, and I'm at Temple, so we're only about three hours apart now, which isn't too bad. I've never been further than St. Louis, and can't wait to see what the West Coast is like! I'm going to drag her all over the state, but most importantly to Disneyland. She knows I'm a huge Disney fan - when we met I'd just returned from 8 days in WDW - and has had an AP her whole life and promised to take me.

Okay so that's my little introduction here! I just can't wait and need somewhere to get all my chatter out!

Hello!

On Friday DBF and I went down to Anaheim for the Firebird meet/cruise thingy on Saturday morning. I used Priceline and got the Red Lion hotel on the corner of Harbor and Katella for $42.00. We were on the top (8th) floor and got to see the fireworks from out window. It was awesome. It was sad being with in walking distance to DL and not going but DBF and I are going next Tuesday though so it wasn't too bad.

We spent all day Saturday in Big Bear. I had never been to the actual town of Big Bear. It's a cute little town. We walked around and shopped. The Alpine Slide was fun but I was scared to go too fast. People were flipping over left and right. :scared1:

Hello!

I have to say I had a fantastic time a few weeks ago at D23 and it was plussed by having my Bday celebrated in Disneyland on September 14th. I sure felt like a princess. The Disneyland Hotel was fab! They upgraded our room to a suite and made us "The Disney Dream Family" I can't say enough about the wonderful magic. I can't wait to visit our new "home" at the Villas.

Yikes, 1am! So how long does his dialysis take every day?

Awesome. Just try to remember that WDW and DL are two different places. They each have their own charm and you will notice some things alike and some things totally different. Have a fun trip!!

I looked at the website. I would totally love to do that!:thumbsup2

Awesome, wish I would get picked to be a Dream Family. The only thing I ever got was a dream Fast Pass at Epcot during a slow month! Never did even need it, everything was walk on.

I'm having an odd day.....

First, my sis calls and asks me to babysit this week and next for school meetings.. fine fine yeah sure..grumble grumble because it's an 8 am meeting. (Have I mentioned that I am NOT a morning person?)

She then tosses in that to make it "less of a change in routine" I should come to her house.

Screech..huh? Wait a minute.

That would involve me getting up at some ungodly hour, getting fully dressed, out in the cold, to get a ride from DH before he leaves for work.

ME the not morning person.

ME the not too thrilled to be watching one small person and now will need to launch another child from his warm bed and scoot him off to his bus in time for school. I don't even see my own beastly boys and darling husband in the mornings.

sooooooooooooooo.. I mumbled something about needing to talk to Eloy first.. :rolleyes1

Yeah.. I like to whine, sue me.

Next, E's sister calls. She is going crazy, needs "someone to talk to".. yeah and I'm right here.. lay it on me. (she actually wanted E to talk to her.. she had to settle with second best... ME! )
We chat, she tells me that her mom (E's mom) is driving her nuts.
(uhh gee, what else is new? )

What it boiled down to is... MIL doesn't want her to get married.

I understand the concerns, but it's SIL's own life to screw up. Her job as parent is to smile sweetly, play along in the wedding planning and cherish this moment of her only daughter getting married. (and being there to help pick up the pieces saying "I told you so" if the future gets ugly)

Not make it more stressful by saying "you picked an ugly dress"
"I'm not paying for anything, so don't ask" and "how do you know he is not going to turn out like your father"

I agreed with SIL.. her mom is nuts. Wished her luck and made note to pass the info to E to call his sister because she wants "someone to talk to".

The day has not ended folks...

Time to make dinner.
Pull out a cookbook and faithfully follow it's advice.

I happily plop a whole chicken in my handy dandy baking dish. Allow it to cook to get all sorts of loveliness.

BANG

My handy dandy dish exploded. Shooting pieces of glass all over the oven. The chicken, sitting among the destruction, is still cooking and now spewing it's lovely juices all over the bottom of the glass strewn oven.

Nice.

Cleaned up the oven, after some fast work of clearing the smoke by opening every window in the apartment and run all the fans. (Have I mentioned fall has arrived, cold crisp fall? brrrrrrrrrrrr)

Start dinner over, dang it I want chicken with my rice! Back to what I know to work with minimal effort, bagged individually frozen chicken tenderloin pieces cooked on the stove top in my nice non stick pan. :thumbsup2
It happily cooks while I run back and forth between setting up dialysis and flipping over pieces. Get all done and guess what.. I am the only one who eats it.

My family sucks.

My family sucks.

We had a baking dish with chicken explode once, but it was after we took it out of the oven. That is where we discovered that setting a hot dish on the cold oven top is not a smart thing to do.

I absolutely hate it when I fix dinner and my family doesn't eat. I think that happens more as they get older. Seems kids come home from school and make triple decker ham & turkey sandwiches at 4pm, eat a half gallon of ice cream, a brick of cheese, 5 yogurts, 6 apples, half a watermelon, and 3 microwave popcorn bags....then decide they are not hungry for dinner! I've finally decided that just means I have lunch made for DH and I for the next few days. Either that or they are going to eat it for dinner the next night.:thumbsup2:lmao:

I think I would maybe volunteer to babysit at your house most days, and maybe throw in 1 day or possibly 2 each week where you go to her house. I know how tough it is to get little kids up early, go someplace different, etc...But to make you get up early every day, when it's not your normal job, I think that's asking a bit much.

:hug:Wish I was close enuf to help! Brownies for dinner! Can I come to your house for dinner??

Have you guys seen the new 2010 promotion for disney?

www.GiveADayGetADisneyDay.com

Yes I seen it on the news this morning. I haven't read all the rules, but I'm thinking that if we go to Florida this year, I will have everyone do the required volunteer work beforehand and that will give us a free day at WDW.:dance3:

My mom and I are planning to volunteer a day to get the collectible Ear Hat figurine with exclusive trading pins.
