The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

I know Bernice mentioned her coupon...so what did you get?? Somehow I'm willing to bet you probably did better than I did.:rotfl:

Hubby needed a new dress shirt and tie.
We had two coupons, shirt was regularly $42, paid $11.99.
(mind this is a very nice dress shirt for a larger sized guy, impossible to find one at that price just on sale!)

Tie that was $30, paid $1.99 :thumbsup2

He got a ton of compliments and everyone marveled at the price he paid. :goodvibes

Couponless shopping for me, bought 3 cute summer shirts for $18.

One was in the petite section, green tagged $4.99 and paid $3.98 with the extra precentage off .. darn all they had was one XL left. :headache::laughing:

The style was so stinkin cute that I bought the same in the regular ladies size XL.

Oddly, it was smaller than the petite (and not as marked down in price) . :confused3

Interesting, now I stalk the petite section for XL clearance to fit my 1X self.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

And I totally agree, it's hard to pay shipping when it costs more than the item.

WOOHOO!! LAKERS WON!! LAKERS WON! LAKERS ROCKED ORLANDO!! WOOHOO!! I'M SO HAPPY!!

Tell him my little secret for surviving MRI's...schedule one of them at the local hospital. Most hospitals MRI machines are open 24/7, 365 due to emergencies. Schedule the MRI for say 5am. Stay up late the night before, then head to the hospital around 4am, do NOT drink coffee on the way there. Guaranteed he will not experience any anxiety...as a matter of fact it will be all he can do to not fall asleep!:lmao: It works, I've done it numerous times. I am slightly claustrophobic and MRI's tend to freak me.

Awesome, enjoy the trip! It's always fun to take others that have never been there before.
hmm that's interesting way to beat anxiety. I wonder if it will work when I get my nose surgery, or maybe it's not a good idea when you're getting general anaesthesia or however it's spelled.
:scared1::scared1: We are going CAMPING tomorrow. :scared: We got a bunch of stuff today.. tent.. sleeping bags.. umm... other camping type things.. and I made ressies for a park. I hope this goes okay. Its only for one night.
OH I LOVE camping! I haven't been in ages I'm so jealous of you. I hope you have fun and don't get bit by bugs.

Mid day and a handful of pain meds ... didn't work! :guilty:

He walked into the MRI room, tried just laying on the bed... started hyperventilating.

Tried one more time, they put the head piece on (offered eye covers, uhh.... NO!) and were about to slide the bed forward into the machine as a trial run (not the actual test) ... freaked out again.

He was embarrassed, but he just couldn't do it.

Will have to make a call to his primary and decide what to do from there.
I tried suggesting a reschedule with anxiety meds and mild sedation (someone will need to drive him) but right now.. he can't stand the idea of trying again.

"I'll just stay on the meds forever, I don't care"

oh boy......

And now he is slightly anxious about the trip and handling all the dialysis junk on his own. :scared: Redirected that conversation into what he will learn and how he will teach it this summer. Whew.... roller coaster of emotion today.

We indulged with Domino's and a long nap. Better now. :goodvibes

 I'm sure he'll do better next time. Those MRI's freak me out, so I know the feeling. I usually have them put a dry washrag over my face instead of their eye covers...gives less of a claustrophobic feeling. Of course I also go to my happy place...I pretend I'm laying on the beach, weather is warm, small waves lapping on shore...ahhhh! Of course I also remind myself of the alternative...don't catch the breast cancer early and go thru chemo:scared1: or have a brain aneurysm like my mom and die:scared1::scared1:. OK, not a problem now...put me in the MRI tomb!:lmao:

Do you have an "open" MRI place in your town? I've heard you don't get quite as detailed results as the closed tunnel MRI's, but much easier to people that can't do regular MRI's.

Cool! Have fun...you'll do just fine. And it will make you appreciate your apartment so much more when you return.:rotfl2:

Petite items are usually marked down cheaper, since they are specialty and most women don't even look in that section for deals. :thumbsup2

I think I have found some awesome window treatments in the JCP.com outlet section. I measured the windows last night and I'm going to order today. They are unbelievably cheap, even with shipping.:thumbsup2

Won't matter if you are tired or not...you'll count to 2 and be out with general. Although generally you arrive at the hospital a few hours early, if you feel anxious just ask them for something to calm your nerves and they will provide some great drugs. Just ask my DD, when she was 6 she had a cyst removed from her neck, they gave her liquid valium soon after we arrived...she told her grandma that she had a beautiful, pretty colored rainbow all around her.:rotfl:

Have fun! I love camping!

My mom and I are going to Disneyland tonight and also tomorrow. I have a feeling it's going to be packed because Fantasmic starts tonight. I've never seen it.

That's cool. Hope you guys have fun :) I received a magazine in the mail talking about the new additions to Fantasmic. I guess they also brought back the electrical parade to DL. :)

One night sounds like a prefect intro to camping with children. :goodvibes

Hope it's a fun trip!! :yay:

I hope to go at least a few times this summer. After this trip E will feel a bit bolder about bringing his dialysis on the road. I'm thinking a tent site with electric and a lounge chair will do the trick. :thumbsup2

Also, we have cabins at our state parks.. cheaper than a hotel room. All have electricity, bunk beds with mattresses and a screened porch. Some locations are winterized for year round use.. but no cooking inside, no private bath.

MN state parks are wonderfully mainatained, very clean, free hot showers, flush toilets. Many locations have free wifi too :lmao:

You've never watched it????? what?? Really?!

wow! You're going to love it, I've never sat and waited for hours and hours to claim a spot.

We would stand behind the light tower (directly behind the control desk) about 45 minutes before show time though I've noticed more people know about that trick now. We usually had it all to oursleves, now it's quick claim it before someone else does!

Did some sleuthing... We have several open sided and stand up MRI locations. One of the bonuses of living in the metro.. tons of health care options. :thumbsup2

After he gets back from training I will have him call his primary to get referred to one. I kow docs like to do referrals to their own hospital radiolgy depts and E was concerned it would cost more??? Guess we will have to check and see...

Staley- hope you have a great camping trip :goodvibes I'm so not the camping type...I don't think I've ever been in a tent. When I was little my parents took us to Yosemite where we stayed in a small cabin. It was a fun trip and we got to go horse back riding. :goodvibes

I'm definitely a city person though. :rotfl:

Soooo... I wake up from a sound sleep at 11:20 last night to the sounds of crashing and screaming.I did a quick scan.. Jasmine? Check.. Vinny? Check.. Kaylee?? KAYLEE???? GONE. I jumped over Vinny, and there she was.. on the floor.. screaming. I figure its just a simple fall off the bed, right?? Then she starts choking, so I take her into the bathroom, where she peed all over the floor. Now Im freaking out.. She NEVER wets her pants. EVER. So I called dh from work and told him what happened and he came rushing home from work..

While we were waiting we were sitting on the couch with an ice pack on her head.. and she starts to jerk. OMG. I thought she was having a seizure. So.. we all know how well I am in an emergency, right?? I start screaming, and I am trying to grab her.. WELL. She turns and looks at me like my head fell off. MOMMY! Im TRYING to watch cartoons!! Turns out her nose was just itchy. OMG. THEN dh gets home. I can here him running up the stairs... Please let it be Kaylee.. Please let it be Kaylee.. Turns out I had just told him that his daughter had fallen off the bed, and he thought it was Jasmine.

Anyhow.. Kaylee is fine, dh and I have knocked a few more years off of our lives.. That girl is going to be the death of us.. She has a nice big bruise on her eye, but nothing broken.
LOL!!! This is a great story Megan. Not so much that Kaylee has a black eye, but the part about her trying to watch cartoons!! Made me laugh! :lmao:

Oh.. and I got a bil ole honking child support payment today! Well... I will get it tomorrow, but I got notification of it today. First big one in almost a year. A YEAR.
Woo hoo!! :woohoo:

WOW! At least I didn't miss a big ol' Hyena party last night.
:rotfl2:

I figured out the problem...it was because of a browser setting if I use Foxfire as my browser.

I went home for lunch and I finally got my disneystore.com order! :yay: I photoshopped the image and used it on their site for the "create your own t-shirt" feature they have. I uploaded it and they were able to make it. I was jealous of the one they had for kids at Disney Store (you can also see it online). One of the CM's in Disney Store said that adults were wondering why it's not offered for them as well. :confused3 So I decided to try to make my own version. :rotfl: Here's a pic of how it turned out:

IMG00376-20090610-1227.jpg

They also have one that says I love Mickey and I love Goofy. I thought the Pluto one was really really cute and just had to get my own! :rotfl:
Cute shirt Pix!

Oh my, scaring the crap out of Staley and hubby. Don't ya just love those moments? You can't decided if you should cry in frustration, scold her or be happy that she didn't get hurt.

Ran over to the driving school to enroll J, they have morning classes starting next week .. the only time he can be free all summer thanks to the grueling marching band schedule.

June is a quiet month, just a few sectional practices in the evening and one evening rehearsal a week.

After that it gets crazy busy in July with weekend performances, mini band camp at school all day long for one week , rehearsals EVERY night and then a full week away at a college dorm for band camp (3 hrs away). :faint:

E had his very last day today. He cleaned up his classroom, dumped all the chemicals and other supplies into his storage room to lock up until the fall.
He had a rehire meeting with the principal/vice principal last week, overall they were very happy with how much science he taught.

HUH??

What did they expect him to do?

Well... they were glad he actually STAYED in the classroom.
Isn't that sad? They didn't expect him to teach any curriculum this year, since he walked in mid year into chaos. For a large urban district that struggles to meet AYP in any of their schools, it's troubling to hear the expectation of teaching staff is to not to teach... just to maintain order.
I don't get it, E doesn't either.

I congratulated him today on completing another year of teaching.
He grumbled back how much he still needs improvement.
True, but think how far you have come since last school year. :goodvibes
Not much of a break this summer, training two weeks, home for a week, work all of July for summer school. Off two weeks in August, back to training, setting up classroom and start the new year of teaching day after Labor Day. Looks like he will be picking up summer school work for the next couple of years, it counts toward tenure, besides they won't hire more experienced teachers for summer.. why would they hire a $40- $50 an hour teacher when there is a crop of $27 an hour eager for the extra hours $$ . It's good to be the lowly paid new teacher in summer
Good for Eloy!! I can't believe that the most they were expecting out of him was basically a babysitting job! Me thinks that school needs to set their expectaions alot higher. I'm glad that Eloy showed them it can be done!!

:scared1::scared1: We are going CAMPING tomorrow. :scared: We got a bunch of stuff today.. tent.. sleeping bags.. umm... other camping type things.. and I made ressies for a park. I hope this goes okay. Its only for one night.
All that work for just one night? Try to stay at least 2 nights. I love to camp! :cloud9:

WOOHOO!! LAKERS WON!! LAKERS WON! LAKERS ROCKED ORLANDO!! WOOHOO!! I'M SO HAPPY!!

Well this post does absolutley nothing for me.:rolleyes1 Sorry I have to announce that Pix!

Have fun! I love camping!

My mom and I are going to Disneyland tonight and also tomorrow. I have a feeling it's going to be packed because Fantasmic starts tonight. I've never seen it.
It is going to be packed. By the way................the new Fantasmic dragon is already broke, and won't be fixed for weeks. Maybe some of the AP holders that know this, will not come after all. Here's to hoping..........:thumbsup2

Good morning everyone!:):):) Woke up early this morning, DH was headed out at 5:30am to go scouting at his elk camp. Then went back to bed and slept until just a few minutes ago.:rotfl2:

I'm just going to spend a day at home doing housework. Our carpet is filthy and I need to steam clean it. I'm going to try a new cleaner recipe. Instead of expensive rug shampoo, mix half very hot water and half white vinegar together as a cleaning solution. It's supposed to clean really well (some say better than the shampoo), plus it doesn't leave a residue on the carpet like shampoo does. My carpet comes clean, but it really seems to get dirty again fast. So I'm thinking that the rug shampoo residue is attracting new dirt. I'll let you guys know how it works.:thumbsup2

Good morning :goodvibes I woke up at 5, as per normal ritual by me. I really need to find new habits! Spent the morning so far editing photos I took from my cousin's graduation last night. Lots and lots of pictures. I wonder why I keep doing this to myself, knowing I'll have to edit them all later!

Hope the new rug remedy works for you. I think you may be on to something about the residue attracting dirt. Ours always seems to be getting dirty faster after we try cleaning it. It's really annoying, and you end up doing far more work than necessary.

I really, really need to go shopping today. I'm going on vacation and leaving next Sunday for hot 'ol Texas and I am in dire need of shorts and tank tops. I'm already behind on my packing which is stressing me out. Yeah, I'm on of those who takes about 3 weeks to pack :rotfl:

Drive by Hi! Hope you all have a great day! That stinks about the new dragon. Hopefully it does keep people away today. Its not too bad now but its still early.

I hope you guys had a happy Friday. :goodvibes I'm glad that it's finally the weekend. Last night I made spaghetti and gave some to my grandma, who devoured the whole thing. She said it was really good. :rotfl: I just prepared it the way my mom does. I also set aside some for my bf and put it in the fridge.

My bf is still asleep (he came home late last night from work). We plan to go to the AT&T store today to reserve a new iPhone for him. I was told that it has to be done before April 18th (the phone comes out on the 19th). My cousin's wife works for iTunes and I was surprised that I found out about the new iPhones before she did. :confused3 She said she was excited when she heard about the new iPhones coming out. She and my cousin want to upgrade to the new models.

Hope you all have a great day! :yay:

That's my style too, it must be because women are more organized and now how to plan ahead... my husband is leaving at 5 am and has not yet packed. :headache:

We ran errands all over the city yesterday - picking up meds, laptop computers from the district for the training, luggage cart to lug the 100 pound beast of a dialysis machine in its airline case.

Went grocery shopping today and forgot a few things (I'm so scatterbrained lately), went to Walmart (DH pulled into the grocery lot.. uhh dear remember Walmart?? We've already been here today. oh yeah.. :lmao: auto pilot).

Found a tiny sharps container to pack, the type he uses at home is the size of an office trash can. No way would it fit in his medical supply bag after being used.

This one was made for diabetic needles not the big 12 ml syringes he uses, tiny holes for the tiny needles and lancets, he made sure he could pry off the lid and seal it up again.

Packed his medical supply suitcase..
11 guaze 2 x2
11 gauze 4x4
2 rolls tape
22 bandaids
11 chux
11 sets of buttonhole blunt needles for dilalysis
5 sets of sharps just in case
3 bottles of heparin
11 alcohol pads
22 syringes (12 ml)
purell
skin cleanser
11 warmer bags, dialysate is heated in a warmer to prevent cramping.
Warmer unit from his machine
gloves -- he never uses them at home ...shhhh..
don't want to freak out anyone. :rolleyes1
3 drain lines

almost forgot:
bathroom scale
flow sheets/clipboard
garbage bags

Plus another bag still to be packed ...
clothes
toiletries
power cords for camera, phone, dialysis machine
blood pressure cuff
alarm clock

And...

dilaysis machine packed into the metal airline case, lugging this 100 pound beast on his new heavy duty luggage cart.

IV Pole

Three laptop computers to carry onto the plane

and who the heck knows what else?????

:faint:

The company is delivering 30 boxes of bagged dialysate and two boxes of cartridges on Monday to his dorm. I hope he takes pictures of the wall of dialysate bags in his dorm room. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Im HOME!!! Actually.. I got home at 7am this morning..:rolleyes1:lmao: But we had to come home to get some sleep. Camping was GREAT! The kids loved it, and the babies slept all night. I thought Vinny would have some sleeping trouble, he usually does.... but last night he was out like a freaking LIGHT. Jasmine didnt do so well. She STTN, but had trouble getting to sleep. The kids had a blast.. They hiked with daddy, and ran around all over.. We roasted hot dogs, and then marshmallows.. omg smores were the biggest hit EVER! We let the kids do their own marshmallows, and they thought it was SOOO cool!! :cool1:

We took the portacrib for the babies, which was genius! We could let the babies nap outside in it with a sheet over the top to keep them shaded... and put it in the tent at night for them.. WE however slept on the hard ground.

Shopping list for our next trip?? A really nice air mattress. I need a squishy bed! Citronella candles, camp chairs, long marshmallow roaster sticks.. really WARM sleeping bags. :lmao:

I was up all night. FREEZING! And something about camping gets my hubby all...you know..;);) I dont THINK SO!! The ground is HARD!! Good thing we bought that minivan. :rolleyes1

It was fun. We will do it again... Tonight??? We are headed to the drive in!

Yikes B. that's quite the packing list! It's so cool that he can travel, a lot to take along...but it sure opens up the world for him.:thumbsup2

Megan, so glad the camping went well. You should get one of those air beds on a frame, bet it would be much more comfy and also get you up off the ground. Have fun at the movies.
