The Ultimate Stomach Bug @ Disney Thread

12/2 - 12/9...nobody got the stomach bug. Hadn't even heard about it until just now reading this thread. All meals on property.

Hope those of you going soon have the same luck!

We were there from 11/29 - 12/6 and nobody got sick. We had two other extended families there at the same time and nobody got sick. We ate all of our meals on property as did the rest of the group.

I've gotten a little sick since getting home but that might be due to being back at work. ;)

No one got sick and my DH is very sensitive to stomach bugs. We took no extraordinary precautions and ate solely on property. We live in SC and while we were at Disney several employees at our work place had that virus. I don't think it is any way exclusive to Disney. Many people = many germs.

We returned last night and my dd and I both started...my dh is sick now. We were thinking it was food poisoning. However, we were in line for a character meet n greet and the mom in front of me said her daughter had just thrown up. I think we got it from her. We had tons of hand sanitizer, too!

I was there from the 1st through the 7th with a group of 6 and none of us got sick. Hope that makes you feel a little more at ease!

We were at WDW from 11/22 to 11/29. My 12 yo DD threw up during our entire drive home. 9 year old DD was sick 2 days later, and 14 yo DD was sick the day after that. All stomach flu. DH and I were spared. I have no idea if they got it at Disney, but based on the timing, it seems likely.

We were there from 12-5 to 12-10 and neither of us got anything but sore backs and sore feet. :)

We were there Nov.30 - December 7th. I didn't get anything (but a bruised tailbone from falling before leaving and then again while we were there! Clumsy girl right here!), but DBFF got a nasty flu-bug! When we were on the plane home she couldn't hear out of one ear, could hardley speak from her sore throat and had some major congestion.

We were there 11/28 - 12/5. My DH came down with a cold the last day and has been coughing all week. No stomach bug though.

Haven't heard a thing about it, and just got back Monday. Hubby got a small cold the day before we left, but that's about it.

Just back from 7 days (Poly and CR) - and we're all well. (knock on wood)

I was there from 12/2-7 and didn't get sick. In fact, this is the first time in three trips that I haven't gotten sick as soon as I got home (knocking wood).

We were there over Thanksgiving and my husband had a touch of the stomach virus........but it has really been hitting the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia. It started out light, with people being sick for only 24 hrs.......now the sickness is hitting much harder and lasting around 4 days, with many ending up in the hospital.........yikes...

a co-worker and her family came back last week stayed at the cabins and they all came down with this bug on there last day. Needless to say it wasn't a fun drive home for them all.

We were at Disney on Dec.9-10 then we went over to Universal and my Dh and I are just fine. :thumbsup2

We were there 12/3-12/8 and neither one of us were sick with stomach virus. One of my biggest rules at WDW is that I never drink from water fountains. I work in public schools and never drink from their fountains either. I'd rather spend money on bottled water and be safe. I've seen too many kids put their mouths around the fountain spouts.
I also wash my hands before I eat at WDW, just to get rid of any germs I may have picked up. I've never become ill from the food at WDW and I've gone about 16 times.

We've been here from Nov 16 to 30 at POP; Nov 30 to Dec 7 at POR; and currently we're at CBR until Sunday.

We've been in all the parks, eaten at a lot of buffets, and only eaten on site (parks, resort TSs and food courts).

We haven't been sick....nor have we talked to anyone that said they'd been ill.

Remember that there are several THOUSAND rooms amongst all the resorts, and therefore thousands of people as well. While I feel sorry for those that got sick while on vacation, even the DISer group is relatively small percentage of the overall population at the resorts.

Follow common sense procedures to help prevent catching anything....wash your hands with hot water and soap often......try to keep your hands away from your mouth, nose and eyes in case they have germs on them....wash your hands before eating.....and try to convince your kids (and maybe yourself) that the handrails are really NOT a good place for your hands, because of the thousands of other hands that were there before you. Just following these religiously will likely stop half of the illness that would typically be around a place where lots of people tend to hang out.

Stay healthy everyone!
