The U2 Thread - Vertigo Tour

Don't forget, too, that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is tonight. It will be on VH1 about a zillion times over the course of the next week (starts showing on Saturday, I think).

Also, I saw over on U2.com that Bono and his wife Ali will be on the Today Show tomorrow (Tuesday) talking about the line of clothing that she is helping to promote. I'll be taping it.

Thanks for the reminder...I almost forgot about the Hall of Fame airing. :guilty: I swear, I'm a good U2 fan...

Of course you are!! You were just thinking about the upcoming shows and lost track of time.

OK, I've figured out that I can go to Ticketmaster at 10 a.m. on Sat to get the tics I need for the Toronto show. One problem: it's my DD's sports day for school and I will be in the middle of a field at that time!

How's ordering by phone? Do you tend to get through OK? Any tricks? Or should I join u2.com and try to buy tics at the presale this week?

Help! I just cannot be online on Sat and I don't live in Toronto (I'll be visiting around the time of the concerts in Sep) - what to do????

Well, unfortunately, it's too late to join U2.Com for the presale. My best advice is to find a low key place locally to get tickets. A few have mentioned they have an outlet in their local grocery store. If you absolutely can't make it in person or online your cell phone is better than nothing. I've only been able to get thru by phone a small number of times but some people seem to get tickets that way. Anyhow, whatever you decide...good luck and post back. :wizard:

I have been a U2 fan since I was very young back in the early 80's, the first song I really remember loving was New Year's Day. I like all of their music! I can't believe I actually got tickets for MSG in October on a Saturday night! Decent seats too, right next to the stage high up in the 300s. Couldn't get into the presales but I got tickets regardless, I think I will probably take my daughter to the concert, she has been dying to check out that toys r us in times square and I wouldn't mind checking out the new world of disney store on 5th avenue! I can't wait, it's a nice reward and we both deserve it! :flower: :sunny: :cheer2: :cloud9:

Dizneyholic .... there are no ticket outlets where I live. I'm going to see if friends in Toronto want to go too, and maybe they can get my ticket when they get theirs.

Otherwise, it will have to be an overseas phone call from Barbados to Toronto on my cell phone ... I cringe at the cost!

Hoooray! My co-workers and I got tickets for MSG in October. :cool1:

None of us could get through on ticketmaster.com or the local TM numbers. My friend ended up calling ticketmaster in Ohio and got in instantly and was able to get tickets!

They are AWFUL seats, but we are going :)

Well, how did it go??? Please tell me you got your tickets???

Did anyone watch U2 get inducted to the Hall of Fame??? It was on VH1 this weekend. I think it's being repeated quite a bit so if you haven't seen it... check it out!!

Don't know if my friends got the tickets or not! I was out all morning at DD's sports day, and they haven't e-mailed me yet to say yeah or nay. I'm dying to call them, but I was on the phone with them so long the other night asking them to do this, I can just imagine my phone bill already! So I'm patiently waiting for an e-mail. I do know that when I got home around 1 p.m. I couldn't get tickets for any of the dates (I tried just in case). I was pleased to see that there are now 4 dates in Toronto, and maybe one of those dates will release more tickets later, if we didn't get any this time.

I'll let you know when I hear. I suspect the answer is no though - I think they would have been eager to tell me if they had been successful!

I didn't see the Hall of Fame yet (my mother offered to take the kids for us last night and she uses the VCR when she's here so I couldn't tape it), but I read about it and plan to catch it one of the zillion times they rerun it. It sounded very cool.

Bajanswife, hope you got the tickets!

ETA: It's on tonight at 9.

The HOF induction show was great. SPOILERS FOLLOW...

Bruce Springsteen inducted U2, which was very cool because Bono had inducted The Boss several years ago when he went into the hall. (Bono's induction speech was awesome.) Springsteen's speech was long but not boring and was even pretty funny in parts.

As for the band, Bono spoke the longest, no surprise there I guess, but Edge, Larry and Adam spoke too. Bono told the story about how the Edge tried to break his nose one night in New Haven, CT when tempers had flared. It was pretty funny, too.

As for performances, they did three songs: Until the End of the World, where Bono went out into the audience, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (with Springsteen) and finally Vertigo. Excellent. How many other HOF inductees can perform songs from their past along with one that's so current that it just won a Grammy?

....and that is just one of the many reasons why we love them!

Okay, I finally had a chance to watch the Hall of Fame induction!! It was awesome!! I had tears in my eyes when Bono was telling his stories about each band member. Beautiful. :cloud9:

Congratulations!! I'm hoping to go to that show as well.

I'm leaving for Anaheim in a few minutes!! I can't believe the show is tomorrow!! Wish me luck getting in the Ellipse (aka bomb shelter).

I'm so excited!!!!!

:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

Good luck with the bomb shelter!!

The setlists from the first two nights have been amazing. I love that they're doing some from Boy along with all the current material.

Be sure to give us a full report when you get back. Have a great time!

My friends didn't get tickets

Oh well, it was a long shot I guess, given the number of people competing for the tickets!
