The Twelve Days of Swinter: From Castaway 'Key' to a Partridge in a Palm Tree!

I am totally with your DD on the shark tank. We have a bridge here on Martha's Vineyard that kids jump off of (including myself), then I learned it was the bridge the shark swims under in Jaws and well lets just say that I have not jumped since lol. I know it is a movie but I have an insane fear of Sharks and spiders. I had a big ugly spider in my car the other day and had a heart attack. I swear it had switch blades!

Other than the shark issue, I love the Typhoon Lagoon pics so far! I am not a water park person but I do like TL better than BB, it seems more natural than BB which seems more plastic if that makes any sense lol.

 Jaws! That's funny! I assure you, I wouldn't have gotten in that tank if there had been anything that looked remotely like Jaws! I can understand someone not wanting to do it though. And I am totally with you on the spiders! :scared1:

Yes, I get you on BB, and I agree. I like the natural, tropical look of TL too. I think it will be our favorite of the two by far. Seems like BB is more for the teens and thrill junkies anyway.... neither of which describes me!

AWESOME UPDATE!!!! I've never seen so many pictures from the water parks!!!! We definitely have these on our radar for when Henry can swim, he would love this!

Well I have lots more pics to come! I was very glad I had that waterproof camera! :thumbsup2 And yes, you really should check the WPs out when Henry is a little older. It is FUN, FUN, FUN! Such a nice break from all the walking!

Well I have saved myself. Typhoon lagoon is under refurb while I am there this year.

Don't be so sure that you are off the hook! The WDW website had TL listed as being refurbed last year too until about two months before my trip. Then they completely changed the schedule and had BB as the one that was closed. I'd say check back in Sept/Oct and see if they've changed it.

I love the Disney water parks! I think they're almost as much fun as the theme parks, albeit in a very different way. We always come out absolutely exhausted, though! Have you been to Blizzard Beach before? The theming in that one is really fun, as well, and the surf pool always has just a bobbing wave.

I agree! TL was just as fun as the other parks but different. We will definitely be going back! We have not been to BB yet. We might go on the next trip but I don't think we will like it as much. The slides seem much more intense and I am not very brave when it comes to rides. :rolleyes1 I do like the idea of an all bobbing wave pool though. That sounds heavenly!!! The wave pool at TL was :scared1::scared1::scared1:! That thing would put you face down in the concrete in a heartbeat!

Great update. We loved going to TL. Give me a tube and I could stay there all day. my Jason wanted to do the shark swim which I think use to be smaller but He chickened out too.

We love, love, love TL !!

The boys won't do the shark reef either .. But that's ok .. We go for the lazy river and slides. :thumbsup2 Personally I just love to lay on the "beach" ! It's a very nice little getaway from your getaway. :goodvibes

I agree. I could float on that lazy river all day. So nice and relaxing!

Sounds like most of our Dis kids chickened out on the shark reef. Maybe they are just smarter than we are. :)

We love, love, love TL !!

I can't believe how many people have said they love TL. I was hesitant to even post my pics from that day b/c I never hear anyone talk about the WPs. I figured most people just didn't care about them. I guess you just don't hear much about them because most people don't take pictures. I've still only read one TR where a family went to a WP and I have read a TON of TRs over the years. :confused3

I totally agree with you though. It is such a wonderful break from the typical park stuff, and that 'beach' is heavenly! And the best part is there are no crabs or jellyfish! :thumbsup2

Typhoon Lagoon looks awesome, Rinky! It's definitely on our must-do list. I think I like the theme better than BB. :thumbsup2

And I honestly didn't know you could just pay for the day. What a money saver! Do you remember how much a one day ticket is?

Wonderful update! I love how you take so many amazing photos. I felt like I was right there with you!

Thanks Kelli! You might be sick of all my pictures before this thing is over though! I took sooooo many on this trip! :faint:

TL is a great way to spend a day! And the good thing is, it closes at 5:00 (in the fall anyway) so you can spend the evening at another park and you don't need park hoppers to do that. Since it's a separate admission, you can go to one of the 4 regular parks when you leave.

As for the tickets, I think they were $45 for adults and $39 for kids (3-9). We thought it was well worth the added cost and WILL be going back! The beauty of the park was worth the price of admission alone!

I've never been to Typhoon Lagoon before, but you've convinced me to give it a try!

Close, the current listed price is $49 for adults & $41 for kids, plus tax. It's $55 to add the water parks option to your MYW tickets, regardless of age. So, if you are sure you are only going to the water parks once it will definitely save you a little money to buy them at the gate.

If you love the water, you've got to love TL! Well worth the money!

Well that's strange. I wonder if the prices have gone up since I priced it out last spring b/c I remember it being even more of a savings than that. :confused3 I'm going to have to go dig my tickets out and see what we paid. I know I had $45 and $39 written in my notebook. Now I'm wondering if I paid more than that and didn't even pay attention to it. I looked up the prices back in the spring of last year so I guess they might have gone up before our trip. It's still cheaper to do the one day ticket, but if the savings has decreased that much, we might just add the WP option next time and do both parks.

Hi Rinky! Long time, no see.
Yep, life has been crazy busy!
Would you believe that we have never been to a Disney water park? Baylor hasn't been interested. I'm going to show him your update when he gets out of bed!
I'm up for going, that's for sure. My AP allows me to get in without paying anything extra.

Do you have to rent the floats? Can you bring in your own?

Oh my! If I had an AP and could get in free, I would absolutely go! If you like the water, you'll love it. And they have an awesome 'beach' area that you can just be totally lazy if you want. I can't believe you have a teenage boy who isn't interested in going there? :confused3 He must not be a water lover??? I think you should make him go... he doesn't know what he's missing!

You don't have to pay for the floats. You just grab one and go. And I'm not sure about bringing your own, but my guess would be 'no' because I didn't see anyone there with a non-park float. You can rent towles for $1 each (I think that's correct) if you don't want to bother with bringing your own.

It's well worth a trip Wigd! And since they close early (5:00 in the fall) you can do another park in the evening if you want.

Oh, and they had a nice looking kiddie area for those grandbabies of yours. :)

Love the Typhoon Lagoon pics! Never been to a Disney waterpark but that looks nice!

I just did some checking and we also get a DVC discount for the folks in my group without the premium AP.
Not a big savings but still $4.00 per person.

I think you have sold us on taking a day to head over there!

Thanks! It seems like the WPs really get overlooked, but TL is absolutely worth a visit!

That's great that you get a discount. Every dollar adds up! I think you will really enjoy it there. It was so much fun to try something at Disney that we had never done before.

Thanks Kelli! Don't be too sure about that though.

Hope all of you are having a wonderful weekend!

LOL! Hey Rinky!

:wave2:

Rinky..you live Outer Banks, right:confused
Can't wait for a new update!:)

No. That would be REALLY nice, but we don't live here. I could never afford that! We are just here for a MUCH needed weekend getaway. Right now, I'm on the balcony watching the waves roll in. There's a sailboat drifting by under an almost full moon and the pier is all lit up. NICE! :cloud9: I may never go back home. We just got finished watching a young couple get married on the beach as the sun was setting too. So sweet.
