The Twelve Days of Swinter: From Castaway 'Key' to a Partridge in a Palm Tree!

That sounds sooo awesome, so many folks from this area vacation in the outer banks. Weekend getaways are the best.....even if there not disney!!;)

I have always wanted to vacation in the outer banks! I guess for now Vero Beach will have to do....
Have a fabulous time!

Yeah, we have seen a lot of out of state people here this weekend. Lots of folks from Ohio. :confused3 It's a beautiful place. Not a huge amount of things to do. It's more of a natural area, which I like. Not very commercial at all. Just watched the sunrise over the ocean. I don't care how many times I see that, it never gets old. :cloud9:

Something tells me Vero isn't too shabby either! The OBX is a beautiful, natural area. Truely a place to just come and be a vegetable for a few days. Just what I was looking for after this crazy month I've had! ;)

Greetings from the Outer Banks of North Carolina! :beach:

Hope all of you are having a wonderful weekend!

Not nearly as nice as yours!

Right now, I'm on the balcony watching the waves roll in. There's a sailboat drifting by under an almost full moon and the pier is all lit up. NICE! :cloud9: I may never go back home. We just got finished watching a young couple get married on the beach as the sun was setting too. So sweet.

Sounds absolutely beautiful!

That's so funny because everytime we're on vacation (anywhere) we have a running joke that everyone is from Ohio, and there's a running joke where I live now (in Charleston, SC) that there is a HUGE population of people who have moved here from Ohio. My dad grew up in Ohio so we always teased him that people were taking every chance they could to get out of there! :rotfl:

I'm so behind on all my favourite TRs!

I HATE water parks but I think it's definitely prefer TL over BB.

Unfortunately my boyfriend fell in love with Aquatica in 2010 so when we go back next year insists we have to visit (twice!). I've tried to convince him that it's not worth the extra cost as entrance to the Disney water parks is included in our tickets but he won't be swayed!

Hope you guys are having a wonderful mini vacation!!

What a lovely way to spend your weekend! I'm jealous. I spent yesterday taking the girls clothes shopping, and then sitting at dress rehearsal for dance for about 4.5 hours!

Today I'm taking it easy at home. Not as pretty of scenery as you have there for sure!

 Well, we haven't done anything 'fun' since our trip in October, so it has been really nice to get away for a couple of days. This is my last hoorah before the kids get out of school and I am trapped in the house with 5 little drama queens all summer long! :rolleyes1

I am so behind on your TR (and almost all the other I read), but I'll be catching up when I get home. I know I have missed a ton of fun!

Hope you are having fun!!!

We are having a very nice time, although my DD is definitely a Disney kid. She does NOT know how to just relax. She wants to go, go, go here like we do at Disney and she just doesn't understand that there REALLY is nothing to do but sit on the beach and get in the pool. :rotfl:

 That's funny. So what's up with the Ohio folks???? Jen, inquiring minds want to know? ;)

In all fairness though, there are lots of other out of state people here too. There's always lots of NJ and NY folks here every time we come. In fact, when we went to dinner last night, we noticed that our car was the only one in our lot with NC tags!

I would be really irritated if my DH wanted to pay to get into another park when the Disney ones are included. I'm way too 'frugal' for that! I've never been to Aquatica, but I really can't imagine it being that much better than TL. Maybe I'm wrong though. I guess it depends on what kind of slides you like.

Thanks! We are having a very good time!

I have been there and done that on the dance recital practice! :sad2: I feel for you! In fact, we just did that last week for gymnastics. It makes for a looooonnng day!

I am so thankful for this little mini trip. We all just needed to get away from everyone we know, and our phones for a few days. Not trying to be ugly, but sometimes the only way to have a little peace, is to hide.

I am very irritated but I'm trying not to show it too much as it's really his only request for the entire vacation. I told him if he wants to go then he can pay for our admission to Aquatica and the taxi there! I'm hoping after one visit he'll realise it's a crazy amount of money to be throwing away and I'll be off the hook after that.

It really is a great park but like you say it can't be any better than TL!

Hey! We're back from the trip and I'm all caught up. From the looks of your last couple of pics, it seems as if you are having a great time at the beach.

We've been to Typhoon Lagoon before and loved it too. Did I miss it or did you go on Crushin' Gusher? These old eyes are still a little droopy after an almost 15 hour drive. ;)

So jealous of your weekend getaway!! We went to the Outerbanks years ago (summer before Justin was born - so yeah, YEARS ago) and we had the best time - so beautiful & relaxing!

Well men can be very stubborn sometimes. I know this firsthand. :rolleyes1 Hopefully he will realize that you are right in the end. ;)

WELCOME HOME!!!

We did have a great time. We didn't do very much, which is exactly what I was looking forward to.

Yes, we did CnG but I haven't gotten that far yet. I've got about two more updates of TL, whenever life lets me come up for air. We thought CnG was very similar to the Aquaduck though. :)

It is a very beautiful and relaxing area. We usually go once a year for a weekend and just do as little as possible. I spent many hours holding down a lounge chair on the beach. :cloud9: Sounds like you need to get back there if it's been that long since your last visit. ;)

What a lovely weekend getaway!!! :goodvibes

It was, and very much needed after a crazy month and just before summer begins and I have a house FULL of little girls!

I just got caught up on your PTR and boy could I relate to your day trip to UG. I have had several trips like that in my life where you just wish you had stayed home! I cannot believe Chelsea is looking into colleges though! My gosh, where does the time go! She looks so growny now with her braces off too.

Your Disney trip is right around the corner now!!! Less than a month to go! :wizard: Somehow I didn't realize that you were staying at POR. I think that is where we are going to stay next time too so I am really looking forward to hearing your opnions on it and seeing your pictures. I bet you are going to really enjoy this trip since you didn't go last year. I noticed how much I more I relished this last trip after being gone for two years. It really makes a big difference. I think I loved the 2011 trip even more than our very first trip. I guess absence really does make the heart grow fonder.

I'm finally all caught up! I've been away from the DIS for almost 6 months, so it took a bit to get caught up. Loving you pictures from the shark tank. It looks really cool, and may have convinced me we need to check out a water park. So far we haven't done it because one of the kids was too small, but next trip that won't be the case. Can't wait to hear more about Typhoon Lagoon!

I can relate. I have been a terrible Disser lately. I am absolutely drowning in life right. By the time I get everything done each day, I just don't have it in me to write up an update. In fact, it's 9:05 and I and am getting ready to drop like a rock into my bed! :faint: I am such a party animal aren't I?

Typhoon Lagoon is WONDERFUL! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys the water. I have two more updates to do on TL so more pictures to come... eventually. :rolleyes2

I hear ya! The only reason I am able to get here now is because school is out! During the school year, by the time I MIGHT get the computer, I'm ready for bed!

And hey I'm still working on a TR from last July, I figure if we get clear to the end it will be a bonus! ;)
