Saw this in the paper the other day and thought I would pass it along because you just gotta laugh, right?

I can relate to every single one of them.



On the twelfth day after the hurricane, Katrina gave to me...

TWELVE FEMA trailers,

ELEVEN MREs

TEN helicopters

NINE limited menus

EIGHT trips to Lowe's

SEVEN traffic jams

SIX bags of ice

FIVE Red Cross meals

FOUR-mile gas lines

THREE pounds of SPAM

TWO pints of sweat, and a

Yard so very dirty....

Haha, that's a good one, but I don't think that anyone should be joking about Katrina, even in a friendly way. I know you weren't meaning any harm, and I am not trying to critisize you but as we all know, Katrina is a very serious matter.

I am from Biloxi, MS.....and if you don't laugh you will cry. Katrina itself was not funny but sometimes you have to find humor in everyday things.

Sorry if you were offended by my post, laurengrant. That was not my intent, but you know what they say, sometimes laughter is the best medicine.

I can tell you that personally, we that live along the MS Gulf Coast have all cried so much over this storm and the havoc that it has personally wreaked on all of our lives, that we are overdue for a laugh or two or ten. I would not have posted that had I not been able to relate to it. I am living with the fallout of Katrina on a daily basis and sometimes you just have to laugh or you will lose it.

From my experience the people of Louisiana have great senses of humor and will laugh during anything. It's one of their greatest gifts.

laurengrant: that could only have been written by someone who was here in the twelve days after the storm (although hang on--fema trailers within two weeks??? somebody had connections) and thus it is a great list of things we all had to deal with (and talk about, and live in) for months on end. once you live thru something like that jokes naturally arise from it. think of it like the vacation that went all wrong, but the whole family remembers and jokes about forever, except on a much more massive scale.
