The TRIP of all Trips... Ana's MAW PTR... *TR STARTED* Link- Post #1901 Pg. 127

Just wanted to echo that I have also heard pat downs are not done on children under 12.

I've been hearing all about the TSA stuff too and am a bit concerned about flying in January. Thankfully it's just me I have to worry about. Hope it all goes smoothly for you guys and there ends up being no issues.

Have fun at Radio City Music Hall! :goodvibes

I hope you guys have a great time at Radio City :woohoo:. Let us know how it goes....

I also heard on the news this morning that pat downs do not apply to children under 12.....

Hey Tim, have a great time in NYC! Radio City Music Hall is on my list of 'must do' whenever we up there! I'm sure you'll all have a wonderful time together too.

Holy cannolis, only 9 days?!?! Well color me jealous, you lucky dog! The time is flying by and with Thanksgiving on Thursday, it'll go even quicker. Is Juliana short circuiting yet with all the anticipation and excitement?:goodvibes Any more gift card dances breaking out spontaneously?

I too read about those ridiculous pat downs for kids. Ugh, there has to be a better way:sad2:. From what I understand, they'll do a modified pat down for kids 12 and under if they require more screening. But it all still sounds a bit fuzzy to me...how would a child require more screening? It's all so freaking weird. I think that with all the protesting and disgust with the TSA, things will change. Who the heck wants to be groped? Not me, thank you very much and certainly not one of my girls.

I did read a funny blurb regarding this whole issue...a lady was about to be patted down and she said to the TSA person 'shouldn't you at least buy me a drink first?' It's just so wrong.:sad2:

The whole pat down/body scan thing is just - UGH!!! Why dont they do that for people who need further screening after the regular walk through the metal detector???

I know a woman who works for the TSA - she absolutely HATES doing pat downs, very embarassing for her. I dont think the actual workers are in favor of doing them, you know? They arent doing body scans yet in Philly - I hope we dont get that far! I was in LA last week and was surprised they werent doing them there (but happy that I didnt have to get scanned!!)

Hubby and I flew from Phx to Vegas thos past weekend. Saw the scanners both places. I was wearing a sweatshirt leaving Vegas and the guy wanted me to go thru the dcanner. I told him I would take it off. he asked me if I had anything on under it :scared1: Took it off and went thru the regular way. I really hope this system gets a revamp soon. I think you will have better odds of not being pulled aside if u don;t wear a Yankees shirt:rotfl2: Seriously, I hope it all goes smoothly

I work in a facility with very high security. We go through a metal detector, and then a puffer machine that detects anything related to explosives. This second machine is so sensitive that one day a guy came in with a pack of hotdogs in his lunchbox, and the machine went off because of the preservatives (nitrites/nitrates?) in the wieners!!! That is scary on a whole new level. :rotfl2:

The slightest amount of gun powder or anything like that will set it off. No full body scanners, and no pat downs unless you set the other devices off, and then typically that is with a wand. Not sure why they think at airports they have to be much more invasive to so many people needlessly; people that obviously are NOT a security concern! :sad2:

I hear them make arguments why it is necessary, and they mention the underwear bomber, but can someone please explain to me how a patdown would detect what he had hidden in his underwear? I'm pretty sure if he had explosives there, the puffer machine would have done a pretty fine job of detecting it personally!

So I haven't been flollowing this to closely, but are the scanners different than what we have been going through in the past?
I saw a patdown on TV this morning for the 1st time, and WOW, they do get pretty personal. They feel EVERY CRACK and noo and cranny!

I think my approach would be, "you better do a good job, or I am going to the back of the line and make you do it again" :rotfl2: Or, something along the lines of "I haven't had much loving lately so take your time". Yes I would be the wise cracker there. I guess I figure turn the tables on them.

As for kids. I suppose if someone has no problem blowing up a plane full of people, they won't have a problem strapping a bomb on a child to smuggle it in, so I see why they are patting everyone down, but it is scary.

Luvin the new updates and I got a lovely card from you all in the post yesterday thanks :)

I am hoping by next year they are not doing this !!!!!
Me too!!!! I hope by next week they aren't doing this! :lmao:

Enjoy the Christmas Show, we saw it when my DD was 2 1/2, I don't think she blinked the whole time, Juliana will really enjoy it!
We had such a great time yesterday. I have some pics that I have to get off my camera to show you guys!

We will see what happens. I am trying to not get too worked up about it, but I keep catching myself reading every article about this and turning up the TV when they talk about it.

We had a great time! :goodvibes

Juliana is getting really excited! :yay::yay:

She breaks out dancing all the time.. except yesterday when the M&Ms tried to dance with her. LOL I have some funny video of them (the M&Ms) dancing! :lmao:

I think the TSA is going to have a problem come tomorrow. Looks like there is going to be a small revolt. I'm glad we aren't flying tomorrow.

I did read a funny blurb regarding this whole issue...a lady was about to be patted down and she said to the TSA person 'shouldn't you at least buy me a drink first?' It's just so wrong.:sad2:
LOL That's a good one. Maybe I'll steal it! :lmao:

Welcome home!!!! I hope you had a wonderful time!!!!

WOW LA doesn't have the scanners? I find that weird... :confused3

I can see how some TSA agents wouldn't like doing the pat-downs. I guess this is the world we live in now. :sad2:

Hubby and I flew from Phx to Vegas thos past weekend. Saw the scanners both places. I was wearing a sweatshirt leaving Vegas and the guy wanted me to go thru the dcanner. Glad you made it through security with no major problems.. and glad you you were wearing a shirt under your sweatshirt! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Awwww.... they see plenty of Yankees shirts up here! :lmao:

Marv, you sound like you know what you are talking about. ::yes:: (unless you are making up a very believable story:lmao:) Maybe you can call up the GUB-MENT and propose your idea. Then you can become stinking rich and take us all to Disney!!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Note to self: don't try to smuggle any hotdog buns through security if Marv gets that contract! :rotfl2:

So I haven't been flollowing this to closely, but are the scanners different than what we have been going through in the past?
I saw a patdown on TV this morning for the 1st time, and WOW, they do get pretty personal. They feel EVERY CRACK and nook and cranny!
Yes, I would say it is very personal. :confused3:rolleyes:

I think my approach would be, "you better do a good job, or I am going to the back of the line and make you do it again" :rotfl2: Or, something along the lines of "I haven't had much loving lately so take your time". Yes I would be the wise cracker there. I guess I figure turn the tables on them.
Maybe I can hand them my business card when they are done and say 'Give me a call sometime.' :rotfl2::rotfl2:

As for kids. I suppose if someone has no problem blowing up a plane full of people, they won't have a problem strapping a bomb on a child to smuggle it in, so I see why they are patting everyone down, but it is scary.
Sadly, I agree with this.

Luvin the new updates and I got a lovely card from you all in the post yesterday thanks :)
Glad you got it!!!! :goodvibes

I am liking this PAT DOWN less and less !!!
Glad you are not liking it more and more! :lmao::lmao:
