The Time Traveler's Wife

I'm kind of like that, but I saw the trailor, and thank goodness, the faces just MATCH. Rachel McAdams IS Clare Abshire. Eric Bana IS Henry DeTamble. They're perfect.

I hope this movie will work out; it looks really promising. People say it's kind of like The Notebook crossed with Benjamin Button.

Really? That's goooooooood, I'll watch anything with Eric Bana in it, as you know. <3 ;)

It kinda confuses me, reading the plot. I don't really "get" how he time-travels and meets Claire in her youth. Does it spell it out in the book or do you have to read between the lines?

You understand it once you get to reading.

Basically, there is Henry. He has had 'chrono-displacement disorder' since he was 6. Randomly (usually when he's stressed) he will just disappear and pop into another time. He arrives there naked, btw. (;)) When Clare is 6, Henry (who is 30+) time travels into her family's meadow. Henry continues to time travel there while Clare grows up. After Clare turns 18, Henry stops time-traveling to her meadow, and she goes 2 years without seeing him.

Finally, when she is 20 she sees him in the newberry library. Henry is 28, and hasn't yet started time-traveling to Clare's meadow yet. So Clare is madly in love with this man she's known all her life, and Henry doesn't even know her yet. Anyway, so they're both in the present and they fall even more in love and get married, etc.

When Henry is at a certain age (30 something) he starts time-traveling back to Clare's meadow when she's 6. Does that make any sense?

It's really based on their AGES, and not that certain date in time. Trust me, you really start to get the hang of it after a couple chapters. (:

Ah now I'm dying to read it!!!
It'll be next on my book list after I finish my current book :)

It's not confusing at all. Just read it, and don't pay TOO much attention to the date and his age. Some people get so wrapped up in that they get confused.

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT IS SHOWN IN THE MOVIE!! :rolleyes1

Ah, okay. Wait, so why doesn't Henry recognize Claire when they meet at the library? Did she change or something?

Yeah, just focus on the STORY and it will all make sense. (:

Okay, when Henry was 28 he met Clare in the library. He did not start time-traveling back to her childhood until he was 30 something. So Clare knew him, because he was part of her PAST. But that was part of Henry's FUTURE.

And yes, that is imperative. Unfortunately, I bet they'll change it and make him able to time-travel with clothes. Otherwise, that would be a lotttt of nekkie scenes! (Not that I mind. ;))

Just found out from my mum that she already has the book. I thought it looked familiar when I saw it on Amazon...

Ohohohohhhh.

Heck, even if he wears boxers it'll be okay with me. More clothes than that, not acceptable. Not acceptable at all. :rolleyes1

No, I think it's important that he's naked.
It's kind of why the book ended how it ended.
Anyways, they're probably just gonna do like upper body shots, or have him standing behind something.
It's quite easy to jump around nudity.

IDC, I just wanna see me some Eric Bana. I read the plot on Wiki and the ending sounds really, really sad.

I've got about 60 pages left.
I keep having to stop just so I can soak it all in. I'm a very fast reader but sometimes I don't comprehend it.
I have to stop myself from reading at points.
A little OT but when I read Deathly Hallows I made my mom hide the book from me for the night.

But Time Traveler's Wife is very interesting. I love the idea of time travel. I love Back to the Future, and Doctor Who, the idea of time capsules. It just seems so cool. But I'll wait until morning to finish the book.

Don't get me wrong, I also think it's important. Just from the look of the screencaps, it looks like they might jump over the whole naked thing.

People would also think that the ending in My Sister's Keeper was important, but as we all know, they completely changed it.

'Tis. It's just...sad. :sad2:

From the trailer it looks like he's going to be naked.
It shows his clothes on the stairs.
While the movie is only rated PG-13, the warnings are for sexuality and nudity.

I haven't read the book, but I seen the previews for it & I REALLY want to see it.

I wanna read/see it soooooo badly! I saw a preview for it for the first time today..and it looks soo amazing!!

Oh, I see. The only time I saw the trailor was before I read the book. I just watched it, and I see that now.

Aww, I love the part of the trailor when Henry is telling Clare not to wait for him, and they're kissing under the fireworks. Especially because I know what those parts mean now. I think it's going to be a great movie!

Ah! So many books being made into movies! I still need to read my sister's keeper and this book! But, the trailer looks really good! I'm such a sap, but I cried during the trailer.

I haven't read the book, but I saw the trailer for the movie on tv today. I think I will read the book before I see the movie.

the book was great but the movie looks bad
