The Three Mouseketeers Take On the World-- July 31-August 6, 2011

Indiana Jones is a great idea! Mary Poppins seems like it would work great for our group. We need costumes for 4 girls (ages 15, 14, 11 and 6) and 3 boys (ages 15, 13 and 10). I've thought about trying to convince them that we should be the 7 Dwarfs (sp.?). My mom is trying to convince all of us to dress up as Waldo (as in, Where's Waldo?)! :rotfl:

I am HORRIBLY afraid of those donkey boys! They are some of my worst memories from childhood! Yes, we do have pictures of the previous years. Do you want me to post a couple pictures of our Toy Story and Kim Possible themes?

I'd love to see pictures! I can understand about the donkey boys. My aunt and my mom took me to see ET when it first came out. I was very little (just dated myself LOL) and it scared me to death. I was actually terrified of any ET for years, and I still don't really like the movie

Where's Waldo would actually be kind of funny. Especially if only one of you was Waldo and the rest dressed as the other people in the books. Then keep doing things to obstruct Waldo from view .... see if the people you ToT would "get" it :)

ET is kinda scary! We're (hopefully) going away for the weekend with the boys and their parents, so we'll probably discuss it then. I'm posting some Halloween pictures on my TR.:thumbsup2

Heads up, folks-- Magical Express luggage tags arrived yesterday!!:banana::banana::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I'm going to drop them off at the Mouseketeers' houses today after work. I'm also using them as an excuse to get face to face with a couple of parental units to get some questions answered, and to answer any they may have for me. We've been having a little bit of trouble getting a ride to the airport for me and Mouseketeer2 (Mouseketeer1 got her own ride), and Mouseketeer2's dad offered to drive us. However, I haven't heard from her in almost a week (no replies to posts on the Facebook group page Mouseketeer1 made up for us a while back), so I want to see if I can get either her or her dad (or even her mom, if I have to) face to face to confirm this plan, and to lay out the procedure for D-Day. Wish me luck!

T minus fifteen days, sixteen hours, and twenty one minutes!

Yay for Magical Express tags! You're so close!! I hope everything works out with Mouseketeer 2 and you! Keep us posted! popcorn::

Wow! I'm impressed that you are taking a trip with friends, it sounds fun :)
I can't wait to see what you have in store (and I love that your mom was the one who had the idea for the trip!)

This is a little late, but thanks for joining in! Yeah, my friends and I are all really excited about the trip... I think I'm converting another Disney freak in the process! :thumbsup2

So, I delivered one of two luggage tags yesterday, and received/gave two thirds of the payment for our Dining Plan, which I gave to my mom. Now all I need is Mouseketeer1's payment, and to give her her tag, and we're set to go!

I still need to find my pin collection, though. And go through my mom's Disney Box for bottle straps and misty fans, and any other odds and ends we have that might prove useful for our trip. I've already figured out how I'm spending the thirtieth-- packing and baking! My mom bought Mickey shaped biscuit cutters on one of our trips, and I was thinking of making cookies to have on the plane. A batch or two of sugar cookies for Mouseketeer1, who doesn't like chocolate (blasphemy, I know, I've been teasing her about it for years!:lmao:), and a couple of batches of chocolate chip for myself and Mouseketeer2, and for my family. And if they happen to be Mickey shaped... all the better!

Yum!! Mickey cookies sound GREAT! We made Mickey Waffles the day we left (but we didn't take them on the plane :rotfl2:) and we've made Mickey "crisped rice treats" before!

Have you ever been to Goofy's Candy Co. in Downtown Disney? They've got "make your own" EVERYTHING--- and it's almost all Mickey shaped! That's gonna be one of my first stops on my trip-- I've always wanted to go, but my family doesn't do Downtown Disney very much. (My dad doesn't really like shopping :confused3).

... ... ... So I kinda got bored this past week... ... and getting bored so close to a trip tends to lead to... things:rolleyes1. I was trolling the WDW Resort website, and for some reason that I can't remember now, I began looking for a map of Hollywood Studios. Well, I found it, but I also found "customizable" maps of all four parks-- as long as you have an account on the site (it's FREE! and a lot of fun!), you can create a map of the park that highlights ONLY the rides and shows and restaurants you're interested in! So being the awesome friend (and total Disney FREAK) that I am, what did I do?

Why, I made maps for both of my tripmates! :rotfl: I went through the list of attractions in each park and chose only the ones that I thought my friends would be interested in, printed out two copies each, and gussied them up a little bit. Here's one of Epcot that I did for Mouseketeer2:

I'm going to take them to the local UPS store tomorrow after work to get them laminated. My mom was laughing at me as I cut the maps out and pasted them to the construction paper, but I didn't care... no matter how old you are or how experienced you are at traversing a park, it ALWAYS pays to have a map. I'll just be giving them ones that are a little less cluttered, and much prettier!

T minus thirteen days and counting!

I LOVE Goofy's Candy Co.! Thing2 and I made our own "crisped rice treats"! They were delicious! Between this and seeing Queenofallthings's pictures of the deep fried oreos at Boma, I'm sitting here drooling!

Guess what? I found my pin collection!

:banana::cool1::woohoo::banana::cool1::woohoo::banana::cool1::woohoo::banana::cool1::woohoo:

I spent the afternoon after work yesterday digging through my mom's collection of Disney stuff trying to look for it, and came up with just about everything BUT my pins. Finally, I went for broke and dug into my family's basement storage closet, and lo and behold, there they were, buried under a sleeping bag! I spent the rest of the evening organizing them, replacing backs, and cateloging them. At this point in time, I have forty seven official Disney pins, not much, I know, but there's always more where those came from!

Here's the entire collection:

If anyone interested in trading with me is in the World from July 31 to August 6, leave a message on my account page and we'll set up a trading date! I'm in the process of collecting as many different Stitch pins as I can, so if you've got Stitch pins to trade, I'm your girl!

In other news, the last third of the payment for the Dining plan has been received, which means that we are officially done with planning! :cool1::cool1: It's now time to start monitoring weather. There's one tropical storm that my dad had tipped me to, but it's veering off northeast, out into the greater Atlantic, so that won't be a problem. There's another one forming off the coast of southern Mexico, but it's too far southwest to worry about right now. I'm still gonna keep an eye on it, but hopefully it'll dissapate before it hits Florida.

Ten days to go!

You have way more pins than me, I have 13! I can't believe your trip is so close! Yay for ten days! :cool1::banana::cool1:

Hey, folks. Stitchfan here, trying to fight off pre-trip boredom by updating a trip report that hasn't even STARTED yet. :faint: I really need a life. I could be organizing and packing the collection of college SHTUFF down in my basement, but... why do that when I can troll DISBoards and hang out with all of you lovely people? ;)

So, how 'bout that heatwave, huh? It's honestly cooler down in the World right now than it is up here in lovely Northern Virginia. Thankfully, the awful heat seems to have broken, and the current temperature right now is 79 degrees, lower than it's been in over a month. However, the heat index is still in the eighties, so while it is cooler, it's not THAT much cooler. :sad2: There were a few days at work when it was too hot to let our students outside for recess-- we had to stick with running around the gym.

However, it looks like weather down in the World from July 31 to August 3 is going to be absolutely lovely-- highs of low nineties or even high eighties, humidity in the low seventy percent range. Anyone reading this who happens to be in Florida right now, you guys are some lucky ducks!

So, I'm considering taking the Mouseketeers resort/pool hopping during our daily downtime, to expose them to more of the property and to show them options for if/when they decide to become DVC members. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm definitely taking them to Beach Club (my family's DVC home resort) and Stormalong Bay, but what else should I show them? We're having dinner at Chef Mickey's the first night, and I promised Mouseketeer1 a trip on the Magic Kingdom Monorail Loop beforehand. That'll probably take care of the Magic Kingdom resorts (with the exception of Wilderness Lodge), but where else should we go? This is for you, all you lurkers! I know you're there, come on out and reply!

The 80s! You're so lucky! The heat index here lately has hovered around 110!! You could hang out around the Boardwalk area...we usually just ride the monorail, so I don't have too much advice on that!

Hope you had a great trip! Can't wait to hear all about it when you have time!
