Ok so after the shock of the online $10,000 quote and then some suggestions from here - I did some more sleuthing. I never knew that there were "deluxe concierge" rooms that fit 6! And with a AAA rate it is around $5000(HALF!! ) at the Boardwalk(scary clown pool) and the Wilderness lodge(not our fav) So as of now I think we are going to be at the Boardwalk in July. (although the BC villas were not that much more....)
Just wanted to post that for people with larger parties. I though we were more limited.

Glad to hear!! Can I call you Nancy Drew?:) lol

As far as the scary clown....you cant see it on the way down the slide right??? lol..I wouldnt look at it at night though! I think the BW is a great spot and pick! Good Luck!

I'd take concierge and the "scary clown pool" over the BC villas anyday. With a villa somone might expect you to cook!

Glad you found something that fit your family. We're going in July too but still deciding (and going back and forth) on dates and resort!

Similar experience, but kinda different. Was originally planning a trip for next August, me, DW, DMil, DS7, DD6, DD4 and DS1... really wanted AKL. Was going to have a pair of Club-level rooms, for (what I now see as insane) 11 nights. Not knocking anyone who does the long vacations, I definitely would love to if I could, but it's not reasonable... I was looking at a $12,000 price tag before considering airfare. DW was feeling responsible and pointed out that this sum of money could be better used in other ways (sad, but true). She left the decision to me... I told her that I had cancelled the ressie (which I did).

What I didn't tell her is that I talked with DMil and determined that we could do a 6 night trip next April :) We'll have three nights at ASMu family suite, and then three nights at AKV in a 2BR value villa. (Wow on that second half... I got really lucky and snagged a DVC rental opportunity)

Including 6-day MYW, deluxe dining for the first three nights, and regular dining for the remaining three (want to do some double-credit meals the first few days, like CRT, CG, maybe HDDR). Total cost? About $4400.

My take away lesson? There's lots of ways to do Disney if you're flexible and creative.

Edit: Oh yeah, and now I've got one heck of a Christmas present to surprise everyone with. ;)

Your "deluxe concierge" rooms won't overlook the scary clown pool. They will be on the BWInn side of the resort. You can totally avoid the Luna Park Pool and just use the quiet pool on the BWI side of the resort.

We just returned from Disney on Sunday and I am already planning a trip back ( as a Christmas present for the family instead of all the running around etc. ( hopefully between Dec 21 and Jan 11 - that is when all the kids AP's expire- want to get another use out of them-don't think we will renew-)
BUT there are 6 of us and it seems to be a challenge finding anything deluxe AND reasonable!
I am not knocking values or moderates, but after staying at the WL. POLY. YACHT...I think we are turning into resort snobs...well ... not really...we have just been too spoiled with convenience and it was hard to go back to a moderate after staying at the Poly in January. It was definately the most magical feeling vacation we had...LOVED IT!!! (we had great AP rates and only stayed for 6 nights!)

And calling reservations "blindly " and just giving names and ages can seem a daunting task if you don't know what your options are. They always give us WL Deluxe Club Level Room, Fort Wilderness, All Star Music or the option of renting two rooms at any resort....same old same old! Just would like to keep the room under $500/night ( I know that is even high? or could be unrealistic for any deluxe 6...and those 6 are: two adults and a 10,9,8,6 year old...and small short kids to boot so lots of space isn't too much of an issue...YET! ;0) but just wanted others two cents/advice/tips etc!!! Thanks

We are thinking about renting dvc points this time around...just scared to!

Yes I didn't know about the Boardwalk Deluxe club level rooms either. I was told 2 queen beds in one room- and a queen pullout in the sitting area.
I found it by going through the disney website. Then I called to get a better rate than I was getting online(couldn't do the AAA online) I am pretty sure the prices will go down AFTER new years(the week between Christmas and New Years is considered Holiday and super high rates)

JAVA:so ...when is your trip?

We visited the boardwalk and think it looks like great fun. One thing I was worried about though....do you always have to share buses with the swan and dolphin? We were going to MK from ESPN one night and had to make two stops.
Just wondered if anyone knows?

I do know that we toured the vacation club rooms and they are quite beautiful! Very bright and spacious.

If you could find a member (or 2 or 3) to rent from that would probably be your best bet. If you can get it for $10 a point you are looking at around an average of $467 a night at BCV or VWL in a 2 Bedroom. With as many nights as you are looking at that might be your best bet.

You may be too late to get Dec 07 or Jan 08. Most members start making their reservations for this time of year about 11 months out and there is very little chance that you will find someone who can still get you a reservation for a two bedroom villa. You might find someone who has a reservation that they aren't going to use and rent that reservation from them. However, if it doesn't fit your needs exactly, there is little chance of modifying it to fit your needs.

You know, several years ago, I read about the "scary clown pool" and got, well, scared. I did NOT want that view. So I paid extra for a "Boardwalk" view. We overlooked the canal which was nice but it was a case of be careful what you ask for. Take elevator up, exit elevator, look at signs for room number, walk, walk some more, walk more, walk, start thinking about leaving bread crumbs, walk, take break to catch breath, walk some more. Oh - there we are!! Last room on that floor. For us it was great since we jsut used the stairs which were right next to us and we only had one neighbor. But it sure wouldn't be all that great for a family with a stroller to deal with and needed the elevator every day.

We kept looking at that 'scary clown" pool. He's not that scary. We ended up regretting NOT getting a pool view.

we must have had the same room. The room you couldn't find on a map.

Deluxe concierge rooms overlook the Boardwalk. They are a good bit larger than the regular rooms, DH and I looked at them when we stayed at the BWI for an adults only trip. They are very nice, we have one booked for part of our December trip (moving to the Villas when my parents arrive).
We loved the BWI and didn't mind the pool, although we definitely like the Poly pool better. I love the theming of the resort on a whole, though, and the room decor is bright and airy and very comfortable.

Here's the room layout for the BW deluxe room if that helps:

and the WL deluxe room:

Just curious, where did you get the layout above? Is there an actual website that shows the layouts for the different types of rooms at each hotel?

How many adults can fit in these rooms without paying extra per adult? In other words, I thought you had dbl occ but if more than two adults there would be x-tra charge per nite?

It's my understanding that the additional adult fee is only applicable in standard rooms. It doesn't apply to suites, home away from home units, cabins and the larger deluxe rooms.
