The Tenth Honeymoon is the Best One of Them All! - May '14 TR - COMPLETED 4/19

ack! Behind a few updates!

Funny how you said you try to make yourself enjoy Dos Equis when you are at a Mexican restaurant - I feel the same way about when eating outside (especially Mexican) and Corona - try to make myself like it

that must have been a bit scary to see your son in the drivers seat of a car looking so natural ;)

knowing you have an older photo of you lifting your daughter Lion King style to compare to makes it an even more awesome photo

Had similar experiences with FP+ and A&E getting one and throwing all the others off that mostly overlap, and it just gets super confusing. I think the fact they tried to make the site/process dummy proof just made it way more complicated when things don't work smoothly

But yeah for getting to skip the 3+ hour line!

I think the line for Peter Pan is long a lot is because it is a relatively low capacity ride - plus the unique ride track draws more people ... so higher interest, lower capacity = lines

Love the original Lion King photo! So cute!

Holy empty MK that morning! We have to try harder to make rope drop more often. My kids are like turtles in the morning, even with the promise of Disney excitement. We've made it to rope drop at MK once, and usually make it in to any of the parks by 9:30, but I love that early morning crowd!

Love Dylan's carousel picture. He looks thrilled.

Can't wait to see how A&E was, though you and Dylan got the better end of the stick with Splash, in my opinion.

And sorry you didn't get to ride the Mine Train. We have our FP+ for September 13th!

Wow seeing all you have gotten done before 11:00 am makes me very happy I have rope drop mornings planned for September!

Really glad that Kristen and Emily were able to score Anna and Elsa fastpasses. Those things are like Gold now!!

Following along on your adventure and man, you guys packed a lot into just two hours! Can't wait to see what the rest of the day brings!!!

I don't know how I got so far behind. :faint:

Obviously, I can't respond to everything nor would I remember what I responded to in order to do that.

We enjoy doing American Adventure every year.

The photo of you and Emily in the Lion King pose had me :rotfl:

The picture of Emily and Kristin on the fountain the Mexico pavillion is by far my favorite picture of the TR thus far.

Nice picture of daddy in Em's sunglasses reflection while waiting for the Opening Show at MK.

Sorry....my husband has already applied for the Mayor's job.

Awesome job on the Hidden Mickey in the Peter Pan line.

You really did get a lot accomplished in a short time at the MK. This is why we ALWAYS try to do EMH's (you get even more done) or Rope Drop. Space Mountain twice at any other time is unheard of (just wish I could still do it...but we just don't get along anymore).

Okay...caught up unless you go on a rampage again and I miss some (I'll be gone Thursday night - Monday late afternoon so try not to get too carried away ;)).

Great Update!!
I got super far behind due to summer school at LSU, but I'm glad I caught back up!
UGH that picture of the Pollo a las Rojas makes me so hungry! The shrimp and steak you and Kristen got look amazing as well!!
Can't wait for more!

Awesome morning at MK! Pooh and Peter pan are 2 of my priorities this upcoming trip, I love them both and didn't get to go on either one the last trip. We have a 7:45am ADR at Kona Cafe that day so we should be to the park by rope Drop or shortly after I think.

It's funny, I just made an ADR earlier this evening (last night? looking at the time.. LOL) for Artist Point then I come on here and that's the next one for you! Can't wait to hear all about it.

It's coming! Eventually!

Pan and Pooh are really great rides, IMO. Not thrillers by any means, but very much "Disney".

Yeah! Another nilla Trip Report! It's like going on Netflix and discovering they loaded the next season of one of your favorite shows.

Ugh, the intermission about Kristin's broken foot last year hit home for me. Last November I broke my foot on the stairs too. Spiral fracture of the 5th metatarsal of my left foot. Not fun! Luckily it happened right after we returned home from Disney.

Ironing-ha. The only time I iron (maiden) is for our Disney vacations. I actually look forward to it. For all non-Disney times of the year we are a rumpled mess.

Thanks for writing another Trip Report. We forgive you for not writing one last year. Maybe.

Debbie

Where have you been? :)

She pushed through the mostly-healed foot like a champ. I was impressed.

Thank you for reading, and an extra special thanks for your forgiveness! Wait, did you say "maybe"?

haha - yesterday we were walking out of BJs as someone was walking back in with a case of Bud Light explaining that it was defective. My thought was "well, yeah, it's Bud Light" ;)

That would be the most obvious problem. It's like step 1 in the "troubleshooting" part of the manual.

I made up for you missing a few updates by taking forever to post this next update. But I have excuses at the bottom of this comment.

I always wonder if there isn't a better Mexican beer. Negra Modelo is ok. I believe they have that in bottles at CSR.

The site for FP+ is horrible, but I loved it inside the park. We were able to do some things online, however.

I think you nailed it for the Pan line!

Everyone was in like for Elsa and Anna. Everyone. It was fantastic. CMs told us later that they were a big reason for shorter standby waits.

Dylan is the worst to get up, but we make it happen. He's ok by the time we reach the park.

More moping about the Mine Train to come!

Wow seeing all you have gotten done before 11:00 am makes me very happy I have rope drop mornings planned for September!

It was amazing that they got them! Coming up next - they actually get to meet them!

Following along on your adventure and man, you guys packed a lot into just two hours! Can't wait to see what the rest of the day brings!!!

We tour hard :)

The problem with EMHs is we stand around waiting for the official park opening when there is no official park opening. Other than that, they would be fantastic :)

The mayoral election this year will be interesting.

I think your husband would make a fantastic Mayor!

Let the mudslinging begin.

Great Update!!

UGH that picture of the Pollo a las Rojas makes me so hungry! The shrimp and steak you and Kristen got look amazing as well!!
Can't wait for more!

I should've gotten that! Dylan didn't appreciate it.

Glad you're back!

Speaking of being back, I'm back from Boy Scout camp, back from Musikfest (for now), and back to this Trip Report.

At least for tonight. Tomorrow is another story.

Whoa, where were we (quadruple "W" word score! "The Tenth Honeymoon..." gets +20!)? Oh yeah, we're at Magic Kingdom. About to split up. And, off topic, I can't believe that +20!)? combo didn't form an emoticon.

But back to MK. Kristin and Emily took their Magic Bands and the camera to meet Elsa and Anna. Of course, I'm the one writing this Trip Report, so I can only go by what I heard. This, apparently, is Emily:

And here are some paintings inside Fairy Tale Princess Magic Girlie Butterflies and Love Hall, where the Princess and Queen are residing.

I'm digging the theming of this place! From what I'm told, the queue branches out to two sides. One has E&A and Aurora, and the other has Snow White or Jasmine or Tiana or someone in it. Here's the inside:

And here's the top of the inside:

And here's a book, for the convenience of our German guests:

I have to say, I am REALLY loving the theming in FTPMGBLH, and hope I get to see it first-hand later in this Trip Rep- er, at some point in my life.

And here's the first Princess:

But who cares about her? Moving on!

Elsa told Emily that her dress reminded her of ice or something. Emily is an 8-year-old girl, so this is Heaven for her. Well, this and Rock 'n Roller Coaster.

Kristin gets involved:

Emily and Kristin both said they were wonderful. Ok, NOW I guess we have time for that first Princess:

Oh, and she signs stuff, too!

Kristin is doing the cardboard picture frames for autographs this year. This is the "Princess" one. E&A signed it, too.

More theming on the way out:

And some moychendice:

Very cool!

Wait, even more theming!

I'm not sure if this is theming, or if it's moychendice:

And this is a castle:

Yep, definitely a castle. So, what have the boys been up to?

Well, Br'er Jon and Br'er Dylan headed up to Chick-a-pin Hill, and lemme tell ya, they were fixin' to get in a bit o' trouble up there. People say that Br'er Fox has been sniffing around up there.

Sure enough, the two come back wet. Very wet.

We actually got stopped next to one of the large side-waterfalls, and it did not slow down as usual. Not a direct soaking, but it splashed up pretty well. I was on the right side, too, so I got it the worst.

Front row again on that one, as usual. Well worth the brief wait.

After riding, we looked at the clock and saw that we had time to do something we've talked about doing for years, but never actually stopped to do - the Frontierland Shootin' Exposition. For those who don't know, it's a light gun shooting gallery. For those who don't know, Dylan and I LOVE shooting galleries.

This is a fun one, but I've seen better. Still enjoyable, though the coin slots weren't always operating as expected. I think I lost 50 cents, but Dylan inexplicably got a bunch of extra shots, so it wasn't a big deal.

While we were gone, this happened:

C'mon, keep trying!

No luck. She's done it twice, however, so I think the whole "rightful heir to the throne of England" thing still applies.

Since those males aren't back yet, I guess more photos are in order.

I love the pointlessness-yet-awesomeness of the Rapunzel tower! Ok, one more photo...

...and they're back. And it's time for lunch. Guess where?

If you guessed "Columbia Harbor House", you guessed wrong. We're not eating at a House. We're eating at a Haus. This Haus, to be specific:

Pinocchio's Village Haus.

But not in this update. This is one of those short updates. Wanted to get one out so you didn't think I vanished, but.......time for bed!

[POST=52040825](next update)[/POST]

I was a little behind, and had one of those "wait how did they end up at MK?" moments. I re-grouped and figured it out though.

We've never done San Angel, though I always toy with the idea. We tend to like our Mexican food a bit more 'ground beef tacos and fajitas' than carne asada and fancy pollo though. :lmao:

What an awesome morning at MK! We were lucky enough to get our A&E FP the day that they opened them up for Mk, but MiL waited about 12 hours to try to book hers and couldn't get one. CRAZY!

I too have lots of wistful 7DMT photos. DD tells me everyday that she can't wait to ride it. Me too kid, me too.

So glad that Emily and Kristen enjoyed their meeting with Anna and Elsa. They were fun, but I certainly wouldn't wait 3 hours to see them. Love your new name for PFTH.

And BTW, you should totally run for mayor. I'd vote for you.

Love the Anna and Elsa pics! I heard you don't meet them "together" anymore. You meet one and then the other, so that's cool that you have a pic with both!

Glad you guys had fun on Splash!

Short but fun update. And I thank you for that. Mark and I were in Vegas for four days and it's unreal how far behind I got (I've not updated my TR since July 28 or something and forget the PTR :sad2:).

The themeing in the new Fairytale Hall was fabulous. We had a great visit with Anna and Elsa. I felt bad for Aurora as it seemed that she was an after thought after every one saw A&E. We were to give Aurora some extra love that day.

Glad you and Dylan got to do Splash Mountain; sorry you got wet.

We have two boys and have NEVER done the shooting gallery. :confused3

Lunch at the Haus? I'm curious to hear about this; we've not done it for years and want to know what you thought.

7DMT opened the week after we left, I believe :( We got a better look at it later in the week. I want to ride, too!

They sounded fun, but not Anastasia and Drizella fun.

No worries - I'm behind on your TR as well! Hopefully catching up this weekend. :)

We always have fund on Splash! One of the best rides at WDW, if you ask me.

I did not know that about E&A. That is good that they met them now!

I'm sure Aurora's used to it. She's never really been the top princess.

Getting wet is ok. Better than wearing a poncho ;)

Also behind on reading your TR. I'll catch up on that as well this weekend.

Review of PVH coming NOW!

Thanks, everyone, for reading!

For an alternate view of that Haus, see this:

For a poorly-centered photo of Dylan, see this:

Kristin and Dylan were tasked as the food-getters, while Emily and I were to get a seat. We ate here last year for the first time, but it was REALLY crowded, so we had to settle for whatever was available. Today, we're early enough, and the park is empty enough, that we can get It's a Small World-side seats!

And there's the ride:

And here's Emily waving:

I LOVE when kids wave at me from up there when I'm on IASW. But apparently, I'm in the minority. Because very few people are waving back at her. Or even noticing.

Em and I start a game where we try to predict the behavior of those in the next boat.

"Oh, these people definitely look like wavers."

"They didn't wave, Dad."

"Jerks!"

So next time you're on IASW, please wave. It's not hard.

Anyway, I guess there's food at this restaurant, too.

I got the Caprese Flatbread. Delicious!

Dylan and Kristin got the Pepperoni Flatbread. Also delicious!

Emily got the Kids' Cheese Pizza. Not very good, to tell the truth.

Oh, who am I kidding? Delicious! This whole menu is delicious. AND you get to sit next to IASW. So it's a winner. But then again, I love pizza. And IASW. But still, a winner. In my opinion. Delicious!

This girl agrees:

You can see a Gelato in the Pepperoni photo, btw. Also delicious!

After lunch, it was back to Frontierland to use our Big Thunder Mountain Railroad FPs. Due to the booking confusion caused by the Elsa and Anna FP situation, Emily doesn't have an FP for this ride. She actually has one for a different ride, two hours later. I don't recall which one. MyDisneyExperience shows it as "Select Experience" now.

However, the Cast Member doesn't give us a moment of hassle over it, and in she goes.

Kids ride together as usual:

And off we go.

I remember having to hold Emily's head when she was smaller on this one. That was an instant brushburn. But today...

...she's good on here own! There are braces in that girl's future, however.

We've become huge fans of all three MK mountains these past two years. Splash was always a favorite - it's the ride that made me fall in love with Walt Disney World - but the other two are fantastic as well. Can't rave enough about them!

After BTMRR, we set out to get our next FPs. The Castmember tasked with helping us seems a bit skeptical of our story explaining our disjointed FPs, but it's the truth! She ultimately lets us pick 4 new ones (together, this time!), and we go for It's a Small World. Yep. FPs for It's a Small World. What is this World coming to? :confused3

Since we're in a walking mood, we're off to walk right down the middle of that road you hit when you first come into the park. I guess I should learn the name of it if I'm going to run for Mayor of it, eh?

So a brief pause to compare Castles...

...and we're on our way. Until a PhotoPass guy catches us. Or we catch him. Or her. I don't really remember, but it certainly happened:

Iconic shot!

Kristin and strangers shot!

Statue shot!

Love that Duck!

Another CM back in the FastPass+ area told us he "thinks Mickey has his voice today", so we're off that way.

...

Unfortunately, the wait is too long, so off we go...again. We grab some Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards which we have no intention of playing, and it's back to the Castle.

We're getting closer.

Ok, we're inside the Castle now.

And now we're back in Fastasyland. Let's see if Dylan can take the throne:

No luck. Now the other one.

Also no luck. Oh well; let's ride It's a Small World!

I am going to briefly waive the "no talking about last year" rule (again) to tell you about last year's ride on IASW. But I'll make it quick.

It was late. After Wishes. With no wait, on we went.

Singing dolls.....

Singing dolls.....

Singing dolls.....

Singing dolls. And here we are, around the bend at the end of the ride....

...as the clock strikes midnight. Really cool experience, since we were right in front of it when it happened!

But back to the present, where's it's not even close to midnight. The camera works reasonably well in this lighting, so lots of pics are in order:

Hey, where's Cleo?

I love this ride.

The cactus is one of my favorite things in here! It would be cool if they added the Disney characters like in Hong Kong (and California?), but I still like it as it is. Platypuses are also some of my favorites in here:

Who am I kidding? I love it all.

After IASW, we decide we've done enough for this stretch of the day, and decide to head back to CSR to swim. This was unheard of before this year, but becoming quite common for us now. The jam-packed morning (thanks, in part, to FP+) helps!

Some photos on the way out, as here is Sir Mickey's:

And here is the Castle:

And here is where I puked a few years back:

That flower grew from my Pecos Bill's 1/3 lb. Angus Beef Burger, I just know it.

Now about Sir Mickey's...Kristin got a hot tip earlier that they just got in more Frozen merch there, so she was quick to grab an Elsa doll and an Elsa/Anna Skirt Flippin' Transformin' Plush Doll (tm). Gotta be quick, before the eBayers get there. But remember, limit 5 per guest!

Now about eBay, I think it destroyed the concert ticket-buying experience, but that's neither here nor there. Because here is the Magic Kingdom. And our tickets are on our wrists.

We decide to duck into the Emporium before leaving, just in time for some pillow poses:

Agreed 100%!

Also agree, 100%!

That, too.

And, of course, that.

Alright, let's get on that bus and head back!
