27/10/08 Animal Kingdom
After shooing all the children back to bed at 4.30am, we slept till 7am today, much better. We had a quick breakfast at the villa before heading to Animal Kingdom. The GPS chose a great route until it took a wrong turn, ending at a security gate. The security man was very nice, but wanted to know if we came from Swindon! Apparently he plays on the x-box with someone from Swindon! Anyway, we soon found our way to AK and began our day by getting Dave, Suzanne and Ruth a fast pass for Everest, the biggest rollercoaster in the park. Unfortunately, Claire was too small to go on it, so I couldnt either (shame!).

We then queued and went on Kilimanjaro Safari which is a bit like West Midlands Safari Park on speed!

A wander back to Everest and the girls and Dave went on whilst me and Claire had ice cream. They all loved it! We then went back through the park for lunch at Rainforest Café, just outside the main gates. This was the highlight of the day for me. We were seated as walk ins really quickly and the restaurant was amazing. Our table was by 3 animatronics elephants! The whole place looked like a rainforest, covered with foliage and animatronics animals. There were some huge aquariums at the entrance. The food and service were good too.

After lunch we watched Its hard to be a Bug, another of those amazing 4D shows which, as well as the screen, has smell, dry ice and termites stinging you! Awesome! The show was underneath the tree of life, which is amazing in itself. Its huge and carved all over with animals and insects. I dont know how they think of these things, never mind build them!

I developed a horrible headache, so Dave took the kids on the small flying dinosaur ride while I had a rest and a drink, and then we all went on Dinosaur. Its hard to describe this ride. It was very loud and bumpy moving through some amazing animatronics dinosaurs. Suzanne thought it as scarier than Everest! Dave and the girls grabbed an ice cream and I went to shop for post cards, then we were going to see Nemo, the musical. Unfortunately, I got caught up in the parade and got back to our meeting point just in time, however, it is a long walk from the entrance to Nemo and the actual theatre, and so I got there too late and couldnt get in. I wrote a few post cards and relaxed until they all came out, raving about what an amazing show it was! Humph!

We also went on Kali River Rapids, which is a fab raft ride were everyone got soaked!
Home via the supermarket, and the kids went for a quick, rather cold, swim in the pool before tea and an early night.
