OK,
Option #1, We can do like an exchange with a $15.00-$20.00 limit, but that is usually done at holiday time. I like the Idea of a secret Elf Holiday gift program,
RRBB did something like that, and since she was a participant, she asked me to pick who is who's secret elf (actually I think that one was Secret Sister). I didn't know the people, so I chose based on the profile sheets that they all sent out. I think 1 girl flaked out, but the rest had no problems. Again, this is a good holiday season type of thing because you don't know who your secret Elf is until you reveal yourself. As far as security goes, only the organizer gets all of the addresses, so you really are only giving your address to 2 people (the organizer and your secret partner).
Option #2, A Floating Gift Basket...Someone starts out sending someone else a gift, that person sends another one on to the next person, who takes out/puts in. What I don't like about this is that there is no real way to know who gets what and where the basket will go next. Security wise, everyone will have to get the address of the next person on the list, and will have to have access to other names. It seems like it is similar to Option 1, but more time consuming, and no definite path. Good thought, but a little bit of a logistical nightmare.
Option #3, a swap. I think this is a good place to start. If we have 14 people signed up, then everyone sends 14 items to the host. Usually, these items are small, and not really expensive. I would propose a post-card from your local state, something representative of your state, and something personal. I would not exceed $1-$3 so the cost of the package would be $15-$45. You will get back a complete set (it is easier on the host to package them all the same, but I don't mind the extra effort of personalizing each package.) Again, this is something small so we have a little momento of our time together...
Again, I would say for the first one, let's do something small where everyone who wants to can participate and get something from everyone else. We might do a secret Pal swap later on in the year. Those are really fun from what I have seen.....
I am up for whatever is decided, and I will humbly offer to do the work.
