The Sweet Meet - Dis'ers do Hershey

Hi all!
This looks like so much fun.... I live about 10 miles from Hershey so my daughter and I would love to drop in.

As far as the hotels are concerned.... even though the Harrisburg Comfort Inn seems a little further....there will be a lot less traffic getting back and forth. It is right off the interstate (I 81) so finding it should be a breeze for everyone. The stretch of highway (RT 322) between the Hummelstown Comfort Inn and Hersheypark can be VERY conjested during this time of the summer. There is a Sam's Club and a Walmart very close that also drums up a lot of traffic. This is really not an opinion as to hotel choice, some some factors to consider!

Also the Giant (a local Grocery store) offers discount tickets. Traveling from the Harrisburg, Comfort Inn toward Hershey, there is a Giant on the right hand side on Route 39. From the Comfort Inn in Hummelstown, there is a Giant on Cocoa Ave in Hershey.

Hey thre Natalie - I knew you would have some advice being a Hershey Person. Looking forward to seeing you and the kidlets there. P

This sounds fun and not that far from me - a definite weekend possibility. It's a bit early to commit, but it's on my radar. It would be great to put some faces with names!! Consider me subscribed and interested

Our drive in December was so nice and there were things we wanted to see both on the way down and back that we could not do.
That and I really miss my friends!

However John has our summer vacation mapped out.
11 states and 3 weeks!
We will be starting our trip over by George or Kim's and ending it at the Indy meet!
I wish I could live there!

Wow, this looks great! I haven't been to Hershey Park since my 7th grade class trip. DH will be away at a convention that weekend and the boys and I were thinking of going to my in-laws place in Fort Myers, but I have family about 90 from Hershey, maybe we need to re-think our plans.

I don't know much about the hotels in the area since I haven't stayed in any, but I do agree that Rt. 322 can be really hectic. That's usually the way we go to Hershey and if there is a concert or anything special that weekend, it can get very congested!

I'm not sure what Hersheypark's group rates are for tickets, but I definitely suggest checking out the Giant for ticket prices. They usually have good deals. Of course, if you live close like we do, season tickets are a great deal when you get them early. If we go 3 times, they pay for themselves.

Since I haven't been able to go to any of the podcast cruises or meets before, I'm really looking forward to meeting some of my fellow Disers at my second favorite park (Disney World being first of course!).

We already have our 2010 Season Passes. There are at least two Giant Grocery Stores that are close to the hotel. When Giant built the new Giant Center Arena at Hersheypark....the affiliation became solid and Giant definately have the best discount ticket offers around for Hershey Park.

Thanks Jen, we don't have Giant stores here and that may be the best way to go for tickets.

Gonna try to make this since I only live an hour and a half south. Sound like fun!

Will probably stay at the Courtyard Harrisburg Hershey since I've stayed there before and it's pretty new. I also like to keep my hotel nights in the Marriott family to maintain my status.

I'll keep stopping by to see if anything happens with the tickets.
